I called back an hour later and was told he was 30 minutes out. About 30 minutes later I received a text showing he was still 50 minutes away. It looks like the technician was coming from the East Bay so nothing "local" about this. I called and canceled because I wasted my morning waiting for them. They did not reach out at any point to let me know they were running behind. I I had to call them and it was a super disappointing experience. Great technician but extremely high pricing. He did a forced entry which took less than an hour and charged a set price of $450. And then installed a new motor for about $1800. I should have checked around with other companies but was anxious to get it fixed. When I did check the pricing was much lower. We neglected our garage door for years so by the time we contacted Local Garage, things were dire. The open/close button wouldn't work, the door would pop up after we left (even though we'd closed it), and the screeching sounds from the door moving woke our puppy (see photo). We called around but only Local Garage's expert Kyle was available so we asked for an estimate. Kyle was punctual and friendly. After looking at our issues, he created a quote on the spot that was more than fair. It helped that he has two gently used (like new) railings instead of us needing to wait for new parts. I contacted local garage doors to repair my malfunctioning door. Immediately after booking an appointment with them through Yelp I received a text from them with a link to a video made by the owner explaining who they are and what to expect, and also a picture of their liability insurance certificate. The morning of the appointment they texted me to let me know they were on their way and also a picture of the technician that was coming. The technician was very professional and polite. He inspected the door and gave me an estimate of what it was going to cost to fix it, also noting that as he took it apart there was the possibility he might find something else that would need to be fixed or replaced and that he would let me know if he discovered such a circumstance right away. Once I approved the work got right to it and 30 minutes later it was done. I found him to be thorough and knowledgeable and very helpful in answering any question I had. Eli showed up same day, assessed the problem quickly, showed us each rusted piece of the ancient hardware and explained how it contributed to the malfunction.
