I never actually dined inside this Marks location, I am glad that I did though. I came here for 502 Burger week for the Marks Feedstack they call it, more on that shortly. This Marks is located on a busy Dixie Hwy in Valley Station. Getting in and out can be tricky as well as parking. I had no trouble finding parking beings it was like 1pm. I go inside and I asked if I could sit at the bar since it was just me, hostess said that was ok. I go up to the bar which I knew it was there from getting carry out a very long time ago. I sit down and I was greeted warmly and promptly. I order the Feedstack for burger week. It came with a small portion of potato salad but, I wanted the spicy fries instead. My order came out in a very short time. I wanna say maybe a little over 5 minutes no longer than 10 minutes. That was surprising. I also had a Diet Coke. For the Feedstack it came with onion straws, fried pickles and their sauce. I added on their original BBQ sauce which made it taste better. The burger was great and someone from the back and the server asked how my food was. I told them it was great. I didn't eat the potato salad, I honestly didn't want it, the fries were amazing though. Upon leaving, the hostess opened the door for me and I did thank her, she said "You're welcome, have a good day and come back and see us". I thanked her again. When a business says come back and see us even if it wasn't a great experience that statement alone always wins me over. I had a very good experience here. The food was great and so was the service. This is our go place if you love BBQ. The pulled pork is always tender and quite flavorful. What makes everything go to the next level. Is their signature sauces. I always get the platters. You get two sides. In my opinion the corn is magical. Once you eat their corn. You will always order this dish. The salads they have two people could easily eat. To top off a five star meal is a piece of the world famous buttermilk pie. We had the BEST server in world. Her name is Dyan, she always goes the extra mill. She is highly professional and head remarkable people skills. It was a delightful evening. read more

No complaints! Great dinner at this BBQ spot on a Wednesday night. Our server was divine, so nice and hospitable. As a first time patron I asked for the popular dishes and was told the fish was popular and highly recommended. I was a bit confused, fish...at a BBQ place, in KY.... My confusion turned into intrigue and I took the recommendation. Yum is the best word to describe. When I say this fish was perfectly prepared, I mean perfect. Light, fluffy white fish with crispy breading and they don't skimp on the portion size either. There were a dozen side items to chose from, I selected the homemade house fries and coleslaw- fabulous! I ordered my food through uber eats. Got wrong item. Sides were missing and very disappointed. Called restaurant and they immediately blamed the uber driver. Said he took them out. Girl claimed to be manager was very condescending and insensitive. Was quick to point out their bags are not tamper proof sealed (I thought it was mandatory) and it was all Ubers fault. This is bad enough but to ise it as a crutch to blame a driver that I per know and my house is less than 2 minutes from their restaurant... don't pee on my leg and tell me it is raining. I am in wheelchair, have cancer and no longer get to eat out was looking so forward to this meal. I ordered platter so I should have had 2 sides. Said I had to call uber (you can't). Reported problem in uber. Got $4 refund. Side was more expensive than that. Sad thing is I had someone here that could have driven up to get my correct order. All I wanted to do was have a good meal. But during to the rudeness and unwillingness of this manager my meal was ruined. It went in the toilet I couldn't keep it down. Thank you for ruining a disabled cancer patient's day. I want everyone to see you don't seal your meals (unsafe practice) so you vanish blame the uber driver for your lack of attention to detail and accuracy of your order. Found Hair in my food. The onion straws were WAY too oily.. Tasted like I drank a cup of used fry oil. The chicken tenders are INEDIBLE! My Grandchildren would NOT eat them. Way too expensive for what you get.. The staff is very nice and apologized for any issues we had. read more

Very homey bbq spot west of Louisville with very good bbq! Walked in to the smokey aroma in the air. Started with wings (crispy coating) and onion straws which were both good. They were able to accommodate a gluten sensitivity by baking fish fillet instead of frying....greatly appreciated! This is a local Kentucky chain. I was visiting Fort Knox (to check on my gold) and I saw it had many good reviews on Yelp. This place was a bargain. Two of us had the fish sandwich. I had the basket and my father in law had the platter. The difference was cole slaw Included in the platter. Huuuge piece of fish. Fries were good and they were seasoned. I dipped them in their barbecue sauce on every table. The barbecue sauces was really black peppery, not my favorite. I also had a bowl of burgoo. That's a Kentucky meat stew. Awesome. I've had it before elsewhere but this was great. So two drinks, two fish sandwiches and a bowl of burgoo for $31 out the door. What a deal. This restaurant is one of our family's go-to's when we are in the area. It's largely bbq fare and the food is a total crowd pleaser with my family. My aunt and uncle live nearby and dine here regularly. We have always received fast and friendly service. The fried pickles are a standout here. I love fried pickles and they are one of my favorite foods. The ones here are excellent. They are chips that are battered and served with ranch. The batter has a little spice too which is I think is great. The batter is about perfect, not too thick and not greasy. The ribs are also excellent here. The portions are pretty large so I like the 4 piece ribs, but of course you can order a half or full rack. The sides are great too. I like sweet potato fries. My son loves the green beans. This is actually the first non baby food puree green beans he ever ate and it's the only place he actually requests them. What makes them so good? Bacon. They are definitely cooked with some pork fat. Fries, corn, mac and cheese are all good as well. The other item I really have to mention is the burgoo. Burgoo originated as a type of road kill stew. The is made with beef, pork, tomatoes, and vegetables. It has just the right amount of spice. I really enjoy it. They have a dinner special of burgoo with a sandwich and that's a family favorite as well. They also have a great and reasonably priced kids meal with lots of kid favorites including burgers, chicken, and mac n cheese. We were pretty impressed with our lunch while in Louisville. The staff was very friendly and our food arrived rather quickly. I ordered the #1 Rib Combo after our waitress recommended it as a local favorite. It was definitely a lot of food and well worth the price. It was great to have a little bit of everything. The honey wings were very good and the brisket was probably my least favorite but nothing horrible. I would definitely recommend getting one of the combos. Overall, friendly staff, decent food, and a clean dining room. I would probably stop by again if I'm in the area. The area isn't great but we enjoyed our lunch. read more

Ribs are my favorite thing. When I can't bbq on my own, I usually try to find the closest thing to home bbq. I think Marks is fairly close to home bbq. I usually get the ribs, with onion straws and green beans. All of these things seem to be spot on every time. I am never concerned or worried about who the cook is for the day. Same flavor, everyday. The green beans have pork in them. So good. Tastes like someone's granny is in the kitchen. The onion straws and the sauce that comes with it is my absolute fav. I could drink that sauce that comes with the onion straws. Ribs taste like they came off a grill and not like they have been boiled (gross). Stopped in today for lunch while out running errands. Cindy was our server and she was amazing! She suggested appetizers and kept our drinks full, checked back at the right times. Headed to Mark's for a late lunch with my family. This location has quite a few tables for groups of 8-10 people and plenty were open. Menus were made available but we realized during our order that we didn't have a lunch menu, which offered what we wanted at better pricing. No problem - our server immediately said she'd adjust the order and that meant us getting extra sides. We were there on a Monday and it's free dessert day after 4p; however, our server checked in with the manager and they okayed us getting it a bit earlier. For lunch I recommend the Lite meals. Pick your meat and 1 or 2 sides. I always get Mark's green beans and potato salad, sides that I'd never order from another restaurant. The Lite meals mean a little less meat and no bun. My free dessert was banana pudding but they offer several to choose, including their famous buttermilk pie with a side of ice cream. It was fairly basic and good but not a dessert I'd crave or purposely pay for. For kids the meals are reasonable at $3.99 and you can add a drink for another dollar. My guy enjoyed his cheeseburger and side of fries. Our table also had an onion straw appetizer with ranch. Definitely split this with a larger group. Service was great from our main server and the manager. Food was brought out as ordered and a great lunch. read more

We stopped in here for lunch on a Monday. We had a group of 7 people. Three adults and four kiddos. The service was prompt and very friendly. Our food orders were all correct. We don't come here that often so it was a nice change. I ordered the smokehouse salad with pulled chicken and the bbq ranch dressing. My kiddo fad the bbq chicken sandwich and fries. The others kids all ordered from the kids menu and so did my grandma. My aunt ordered the lunch chicken tenders with two sides. We will be back soon! Monday's after 4 they have free desserts. I am going to start out by apologizing to all Mark's feed store fans out there and to state that this place does have certain items that are actually decent. Now, I am sure that since there are several of these out here in the Louisville metro area; perhaps, this won't apply to all of the mark's feed stores. So, this review is exclusively for the one on Dixie Highway in valley station, KY. So, first of all, as far as customer service goes. This place is a 5 stars. But, there are a few dishes that I have tried lately (within the last 6 months) that have been nothing but disappointments. The first one is : their veggie burger or black bean burger. Ok, here we go...oh boy. Where to start with this one?! Well, first of all. It came out looking ok with the sides that I ordered which were potato salad and maybe some corn bread. Now, the actual burger was burnt, I mean it tasted like charcoal. It had nothing appetizing about it. I was very underwhelmed since I had high expectations for this dish as they always try very hard to deliver good food that I have previously enjoyed in the past ( ex. their pulled pork sandwich). So, I ended up just having a bite and not even trying to give it a second go as it was awful. Ultimately, I just ate my sides (which were fine as always), and just skipped the burger. After that missed opportunity. I decided to give it another chance and come back for dinner on a Friday night. That Friday, I went for their salmon salad and a side of fries. When my dish was delivered, I tried the salmon and it was an iced cube. Simply just terrible, bland and honestly...it lacked flavor. The fries were fine, so, that's all I ate. I, then got a hold of my server after I had to ask another waitress to find him for me since the salmon was so horrible and wanted to communicate that to him. Due to the fact that he was nowhere to be found, by the time he got back to me (since it was very busy as it was Friday night) I had lost my desire and appetite to wait for another salmon. He was very embarrassed and ended up taking the salmon off my check while he apologized to me and party. To be honest, I felt very much let down all together about this particular experience, as someone else in my table complained that her chicken wings were dry and looked a bit off. Again, the staff has always been great at this location. Always making sure you get what you ordered and insuring 100% satisfaction as my server tried to offer another dish to replace the salmon. But, to be honest, after having these last two terrible experiences at this location. I think I'll rather try out a different one next time. read more

The honey wings are the best wings I've ever had, we visited from Indiana on our stay for Kentucky kingdom. The service & prebussing skills all the way to the kitchen was awesome! We were out and about all day Saturday and made a last second decision to eat out instead of going home for dinner. Where we were at there were several restaurants to choose from. Some sort of BBQ became the unanimous decision so Mark's Feed Store was it !!! It was a Saturday evening right at dinner time as we arrived. The parking lot is much bigger then it looks from the street as there was plenty of parking available in the back. When we went in the Hostess was very friendly (greeted us) and sat us promptly. Tiffany was our waitress and did a very good job at taking care of our questions and needs. I ordered the BBQ cheese burger and my wife had the spicy wings. Our order came out very quick especially for as busy as they were. Both our orders were hot and delicious!!! If we are over in that area again we will definitely go back!! read more

So we ordered our food online my husband went to pick it up and he walks in read to pick up our order. It was done a good 15 minutes before the order was ready. They showed him the order real quick and sent him on his way. He came home showed my my order and I got to skimpy slices of turkey and some pieces of salad that were brown. This is sad for the sheer simple fact that every time we have had take out orders from here they are always on time and very generous with the food. BUT this is a picture of the pulled pork and brisket I received. How am I suppose to eat this? The pork was dry and hard, but what really angered me was the BRISKET....It was ALL BURNT! I couldn't believe they would plate something like this and serve it. This is DISGUSTING and RIDICULOUS. I am appalled to have received this.
