It's a loft-like space with lots of natural light and really well decorated. One thing that set it apart immediately, is it doesn't have that thrift store smell. They're true to their word that they're only selecting good quality items. Sure, some of the items are perhaps a bit plain, but you don't have to take too long to find a few things you'll like. It's certainly not the case of searching for a diamond in the rough. I imagine woman will like the place even more since about 80% of the floor space is for them. There were several shoppers there and they seemed to have no issue picking out great stuff too. Also, prices are GREAT! Anyone who's 'vintage' shopped in places like Kensington Market will know that things can still have relatively higher prices. My items were incredibly inexpensive, including a Banana Republic shirt which showed virtually no signs of wear for $10. I found out at the counter that this is actually a franchise as part of a fairly large chain (which I hadn't previously heard of). Regardless, they're a very unique and welcome edition to the city.

I ended up seeing a yellow glow on a gloomy early afternoon. It was Giant Tiger. In my head, I was thinking whether I needed anything grocery-wise. I did need avocados. I had one left at home, so I decided to pay this store a visit. It looked new from the outside. I parked. There was plenty of parking. I proceeded to walk in. It felt more spacious than the GT that I visit in Whitchurch-Stouffville. I saw a brand of rye bread that I haven't seen since my days in Winnipeg. I used to get it all the time back then. There was a husband-wife couple walking in front of me. The man, in particular, was loud. He was doing most of the talking. A GT employee politely asked that he put on his mask. No wonder he was so loud. He walked in with his mouth fully flapping away. The grocery section is impressive. The produce looked fresh and inviting. I found my bag of avocados and was happy. There were more frozen food items than I have ever seen at any GT store. The cheese section had fancy varieties, such as dill and garlic. I had to get some. Even the egg offerings were diverse. Hard-boiled eggs. Liquid eggs (both yokes and whites). Liquid eggs (whites only). I was incredibly impressed. I am still not sure why plants are considered essential during this lockdown. I keep saying that it's because we need the oxygen-carbon dioxide exchange to live, but I don't know if my theory holds true. I lined up at the checkout area. The loud man with his wife were behind me. They were the only downside to my experience, but I was happy that I was ahead of him, because I could avoid dealing with his loudness by leaving the store first. The woman cashing me out was nice. She asked for my VIP membership number. You simply say your phone number and the GT employee can enter it into the system. I paid using my debit card and declined getting a plastic bag. The transaction was simple. I had a great experience at this GT. It was nice seeing different food items at this store. I'd definitely return when I'm in the area. (206)

Problem was that I could never find an excuse to go that far up into Brampton. All that changed this past week when I had the opportunity to cover the grand opening of a business that literally opened next door to this store, so I had no reason not to stop by when I was in the area. This isn't a speck on the stores in Mississauga. While it looks nice from the outside, the interior is full of the same picked-over merchandise and dumpy-looking presentation that seems to haunt many of the branches. That would be fine if you could find a good selection, but the place seems oddly-empty from a stocking standpoint. Even with that said, I could forgive that if they had a good selection of books. What I can't forgive is the genius that decided to write the letter "A" on the front-facing end page of EVERY. SINGLE. BOOK. Seriously, you want me to pay $6 or more for a second-hand book and you don't even have the decency to not mark up the pages? What kind of chucklehead do they have working in the back there? Tell them to stop this nonsense right this instant! This is the only Value Village (or for that matter, thrift store) I've gone to in Ontario that does this. This location isn't worth driving out of the way for. You'd have better luck at other VV branches.
