Really bad service. I got my SUV car hit in that place and Matthew E. the business owner had the…read morenerve to accused me saying that my car was scratched before or hit in any grocery store. They are not careful during the process of oil change and leave missing pieces or loosen bolts. As soon as I complained about it, Matthew was rude to me, yelled at me and said my Hyundai Tucson 2010 was a shitty car whit a bunch of plastic underneath in front all customers. Matthew arrogance and Ego are huge. They overcharged and demand to change things that your car doesn't need. So, if you are a woman, please find a better place where to go. Be aware that mechanics have a lot knowledge about cars and some just want to take advantage of your kindness and wallet. Always look for 3 different quotes before making any decision.

For example, their diagnosis on my brakes was simply not true. I am confident this was just an attempt to sell me on brakes. A headlight diagnosis was that I had a blown bulb and there was labor required to remove the headlight assembly when in reality it was simply a blown fuse. Following this, I had the work completed elsewhere to satisfy everything they had listed for the car to pass a safety inspection. When I returned for the re-inspection they simply refused to give my car a safety and came back with a new list of things they were unhappy with that apparently required repairs or changes. This garage tries to make things seem worse than they are to get business. In the end, I did receive a refund for the cost of the safety which I am thankful for. However, there was no respect for the time that I spent satisfying their requirements for a safety certification and dealing with made up issues that were not of concern. When performing a safety inspection on a car there is a schedule that you must follow. If the car meets the standards specified it is safe to be used on the road. I can't understand how you can have your own set of standards and then not honor the repairs that you had requested. I would avoid this garage and not go back, I hope you avoid the same mistake I made.

So personally Im very glad I chose Houghton Rust Control! You certainly have my Business for years to come! Thanks again everyone for your hard work and outstanding service! The body, mainly the pinch rail, did not get a drop of oil. My car has many pre-drilled holes from previous rust proof applications, but Mr. Houghton did not bother to spray any oil in those areas, I guess removing the rubber hole covers was too much work for him. After my car was "rustproof" at Houghton's I took it to Crown Rust Control, they spent almost an hour rustproofing my car! One more thing to mention, I went to Houghton's in January, well past their busy season and actually I was the ONLY customer there at the time, so there was no rush, yet Mr. Houghton did not bother doing a decent job because he does not care about you or your car or any other customer. The only thing he cares about is your money.

Turns out my brakes were metal on metal and this was due to a seize of some sorts. They didn't explain it at all and told me to pay the price. I then called my father to double check with him, knowing very well that I had just had all 4 of my brakes replaced here. Turns out they didn't check any records and tried to scam me out of my money. The brake replacement was completely covered and only had to pay for the seizing issue. Thanks to their incompetence I may have paid $4000 instead of $200. On top of this, it takes an HOUR AND A HALF to put on winter tires. At other mechanics, this takes 10-15 min. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!

When I went in, the person at the counter said "synthetic ?" for the oil change. I at the time did not know the difference (either for the car or by price) of synthetic vs regular oil. I agreed, thinking he would know the type of oil for my car. When it came time to pay the bill, it was double what I expected. Only then did he say "Oh, synthetic is $90 for the oil change". I was forced to pay this outrageous amount. The person I had spoken to on the phone said "well, there is nothing we can do now, the oil is in the car. But synthetic oil lasts twice as long." Yet they charged 3x the amount of a regular oil change. This was a very sneaky way to do an up-sell. I had been looking for a garage to also complete approximately $2000 of work on my car. I will not be going back. They gained $60, but lost $2000. Well done. As someone else had said, if I could give them a zero, I would. Karen K.
