This M&S is so convenient! The Princes Street M&S is too complicated (the escalators confuse me). And the Fort Kinnaird M&S is huge but it isn't really that well stocked. This one however, at the Gyle is the biggest one in Edinburgh and is all on one level which is good because you can see where everything is and not have to consult the directory. There is a café at the back where I finally got to try a slice of the famous lemon drizzle cake and it was well worth the wait! One of the best lemon cakes I've eaten! There is a food hall at the front which is well lit and well stocked but it is quite small. Even the Fort Kinnaird food hall is bigger! There are also 2 sets of toilets. (One at each end) and the ones I went to (near returns and customer services) were in pristine condition. There are a lot of entrances too. There is one from the Gyle centre, one from the car park into the clothing and one from the car park into the food hall. If you know what you are there to get, I suggest using the Gyle entrance because it places you in the centre of everything and everything is well signposted. Working at Edinburgh Park, there are not too many options for lunching or shopping apart from at The Gyle Shopping Centre. Marks and Spencer Foodhall is definitely my go to for super tasty, fresh and healthy salads or wraps for lunch. The quality is much better than any of the cafes at the Gyle and yet is cheaper, although only option is to takeaway of course. I would say that their main groceries are dearer than your average supermarket, so I don't do my main shop there, but do keep an eye out for any specials and often end up picking up a few items. On the way to and from the Foodhall, you may find yourself browsing the main department store for any needed/wanted clothing and homeware items also. This Marks and Spencer is the biggest in Edinburgh and really is a one stop shop. read more

For this visit I had to get a shirt for the other half. On arrival it was nice and quiet, it was about 10am ish - so not long opened either. The store is well lit and laid out. Within five minutes i was able to find the shirts and get the size and pay for the shirt.. That's how I roll - in and out particularly when it comes to the other half's shopping! I found the size instantly - it was nice and tidy where i found it too! I like this store as it has the best selection out of the stores in and around Edinburgh. read more

Marks and Spencer Gyle is probably one of the biggest stores in Edinburgh after Princes street but the pros are that it is less crowded and there is parking too. The Gyle M&S offers a large food market, clothing, shoes underwear, gifts, toys and accessories. There are two cafes within marks and spencer too that are resonalbly priced and serve lovely coffee with fresh baked cakes and pastries -the perfect pit stop! This store is one one level too making it easily accessible. Marks & Spencer are still viewed by many as being expensive considering they are an own brand store but recently they have had some great offers 'dine in for 2' is my fave offering a main course , side dish , dessert and wine for a tenner. Great value if I say so myself. read more

I love Marks & Spencer - it is one of my favourite shops and it used to be there was a wonderful store on Princes Street which sold - wait for it - just ladieswear! Imagine that - being able to browse a store full of things just for me! Sadly this is no longer the case and the store on Princes Street is no longer the same for me since the ladieswear store closed last year with the newer, large store opening. So now when I want to go to Marks & Spencers, I head to the Gyle Centre, to what remains my favourite branch of the store. I like this branch for many reasons, but the main one is the fact everything is on one level, making browsing it a piece of cake. The store has a large foodhall, extensive menswear section and the best childrenswear department in any Edinburgh Marks & Spencer. The womenswear is split into several easily identifiable sections, including Per Una, Limited Collection, Classic Collection and Autograph. The lingerie and nightwear department is excellent, as is the footwear. I also really love the Home section in this branch - it is always well stocked and has some truly gorgeous displays of furniture at all times. The Christmas shop is also great with gift ideas, decoration and wrapping available. If you want to visit Marks & Spencer whilst in Edinburgh, I highly recommend you head to the branch at the Gyle. read more

I love Marks & Spencer in the gyle. It is big enough to enjoy but not too big to get lost in. It has a good range of clothes. My fav department is Limited Collection as the clothes are a little different and the materials used are often of a higher quality. There are also Per Una, Autograph and Classic Collection - not to mention the several sections in the mensware department. The underwear department has a lot in it for being such a small space, M&S pants are the best comfy, yet a little sexy and the main thing, affordable. There are 2 small cafes which are ok, a little pricey but that's what you expect with M&S food. Talking about M&S food, the food hall is a good size with lots of selection. Furniture area is small but they have managed to cram quite a lot in. read more

working out in the gyle industrial estate, i've not got too many options when i need to do some last minute shopping. thankfully there is the gyle and even more thankfully there is a massive marks & spencers there as well! now before i go any further in this review i need to admit to something rather embarrassing. see, i had been back to see my family in the states and when packing my case for my return, i managed to forget to pack my bras and knickers (really who does that??) and when i arrived in edinburgh i was left with the bra i was wearing and a few pairs of knickers in my chest of drawers. so cue marks & spencers to the rescue!! i went in during my lunch hour and was pleased to see the place wasn't too busy. the lingerie department has a pretty massive selection of bras and pants so i was able to find a variety of bras that i thought suited me. after a quick try on, where the fitting room staff were super friendly and carried my items to the fitting room, i was set to pay. as i was about to pay i remembered i also needed tights, usefully located next to the tills, so picked up a pair of those as well. i made a quick stop in the food hall to grab something for lunch and the place was packed. however as the food hall is huge and they had loads of tills open it wasn't long til i had all my purchases in hand and was heading back to the bus. so this marks & spencers is definitely one of the top in edinburgh! i found more selection than the edinburgh shop and it feels much more spacious even though it's in a smaller area. i know i'll be back for any other emergency shopping trips. read more

This is a fabulous Marks and Spencers store. It is very large and well stocked, with a good range of men's, women's and children's clothes as well as a small home department. The store is all on one level which helps with navigation - you can see from one end to the next and don't end up on one floor only to discover that the thing you're looking for is on another floor and the escalators are over the other side. There are two small cafes which are Ok although the service is slightly on the slow side, resulting in long queues at times. My main criticisms of this store would be the lack of a Petite section (there used to be one but it kept moving around and eventually disappeared) and the lack of adequate signage mid-store to aid navigation. The food department is good though and if you're ever looking to take advantage of the '2 Dine for £10' offer the Gyle is the place to go as they always seem to have plenty of stock, unlike the Princes Street branch. Overall a good store with plenty of stock, easy to move around in and a pleasant shopping environment on the whole. read more

this marks and spencers is much bigger than the one i'm used to. i love the food from m&s, and there was just so many dishes that i have never seen before, so as a result i spent a small fortune, and now that i have tried all the new things, i think i might make a habbit of going to this one, particularly for the food. they have a huge section at the mement for christmas gift, again with a much better selection. it is a busy store though, even although i was in here about 10am on a tuessday, so i can imagine how busy it is at 2pm on a saturday. the staff are all rushing about but are quite happy to help you if you stop them to ask something. read more

quality of clothing from M&S is deteriorating - trousers out of shape after one wash, jumpers stretch beyond recognition. Overall very poor value for money read more
