It is on two levels and has a cafe area for customers. We visited between christmas and new year looking to buy certain furniture. The salesman was very convincing about their prices being the best. However we decided to look around and visited a competitor nearby. I am glad that we did as we found the same furniture on offer at almost five hundred pounds cheaper. A lesson here to always look around. Apart from that i have bought several items from Thomsons and have always found the service to be very good - especially the carpet department. I believe that thomsons which was once a family store has now been taken over by another local much larger department store which is a shame really as it just means that there is less chance of being able to find something different in the are

The chair was repaired but within 6 months the new seat had also collapsed. I complained to Lay-Z-Boy and Thomsons World of Furniture and I got blanked as if it was my fault for buying one of their products and had the hard neck to suggest I pay them more to fix their product's inherent fault. Lay-Z-Boy knows the failings in their quality of products and yet they insist it's normal. I would suggest that nobody buys one of their products.

So a couple of days ago I dropped my partners laptop and deemed it to be completely unfixable…read more Desperate to replace it I was looking for something quick and simple so that I could get it that day. I came across the Argos website and found the perfect laptop and they were giving an option to take it out in credit on a store card with 6 months no interest. I would never normally take credit but being just after Christmas and a completely unexpected expense I decided to opt for the credit and pay it off in full next month. I researched it thoroughly on the internet and was told by the website and many other people that the credit check would take ten minutes in store and I would have my laptop today. I tried to reserve the laptop I was interested in and even though pickup at Dunfermline Halbeath was an option for some reason it would always default back to Dunfermline High Street store and say it was unavailable. In the end I ended up trying to buy another laptop as it kept saying the one I wanted was out of stock. The website ended up reserving three of the same ones for me... What a hassle. Anyway I went to the shop straight from work and I found the shop to be really impressive looking. Everything is done on ipads and it looks really modern and urban inside the shop. I checked on the ipad and found the laptop that I originally wanted it and reserved it. I explained to the girl on the desk that I had 3 reserved and she said she would cancel them... Im still getting emails saying that they are waiting for me to pick them up, despite her "cancelling" them. I asked if I could take it out on credit and the sales assistant brought through my laptop and bagged it up. She said it would take 10 minutes and my credit check would be done. I then filled out the relevant forms. I have never met a ruder sales assistant in my life. Everything was thrown down on the desk instead of handed to me and she really couldn't care less about serving me. When asking me to sign my name she practically threw the pen at me. I was then told that the credit check takes 10 day... Not what I was expecting!!! I said that if I had known I would have just not bothered as I could have just paid cash in full elsewhere and her reply was just 'Oh! Okay then,' even after just telling me it takes 10 minutes. None of the staff looked interested in the slightest and the shop just felt unwelcoming. Id just go elsewhere!

Ahh, Argos. I have fond 80s childhood memories of flicking through your catalogue, circling what…read morenew Transformers and board games I wanted Santa to bring me. Fast forward to 2016 however, and it's time to take off the rose tinted glasses and see what you have become. This ultra modern Argos feels like some Argos executives got drunk in an Apple Store one night, stole and handful of iPads and ideas, and tried them out in the bustling metropolis that is Halbeath Retail Park. The store sure looks purdy, but misses the mark on so many levels. The new ordering system is part Argos, part Apple, part Starbucks, and an epic fail. Attempting to use my first name does not make excellent customer service. Smiles, eye-contact, maybe a little small talk, pleases and thank yous, apologies for delays make customer service. Why do I have to stand around for 10 minutes when there's no-one else buying anything for my order? Why are there several members of staff standing around doing nothing? Why are they not away looking for the cheap plastic kettle I want to buy from you? Where do I pay? Why, when I eventually get my kettle, is there no attempt at an apology for the delay, or anyone telling me to enjoy the rest of my day or even smiling as they hand over my purchase? Who knows, and who cares, I won't be back, well, unless the kettle breaks down that is...
