I placed a $1,000 deposit on a 2009 Mazda6 at Markham Mazda for an as-is vehicle. After the deposit was paid, I became concerned that I had not been able to independently inspect the vehicle beforehand and that the vehicle could require unknown repairs to obtain a safety certificate for Ontario road use. I contacted the dealership in good faith and even offered to personally pay for inspection, repair, and safety certification costs. The dealership confirmed in writing that customers are responsible for inspection and repairs required to pass safety. I later requested cancellation of the transaction and return of my deposit, and sent follow-up emails on April 10 and April 14. Unfortunately, I did not receive any written response to those follow-ups. I am now seeking assistance through OMVIC regarding this matter. This was my personal experience. read more

I brought my three-year-old car to Markham Mazda for an EVAP system diagnostic. While my independent mechanic confirmed the connector wires were intact before the visit, the technician here broke them and claimed it 'arrived that way.' While my sales experience was great, the service center, managed by Harry Cheung, is a different story. He is the reason why people refer to dealerships as stealerships. They refuse to take accountability for their mistakes; instead of a simple apology for the damage, they attempted to gaslight me. To make matters worse, new check engine codes appeared immediately after their 'master technician' finished the diagnostic. Worst dealership. 1) steering wheel is full of engine oil each time I service. I rather they clean my door knob, shift knob and steering wheel and not the exterior of my car. I made a habit to put a roll of Lysol in the car before I go there. 2) swap tires and they didn't even put my tires back into my car and I have to chase for it 3) cocky sales, ridiculous attitude. While I was serving my car I look around in the show room, I asked a question and the sales heard me and walked away. 4) service department is slow ( except the Asian service advisor, he is the best one, I would just walk up to him every time I service the car), the rest doesn't even give a crap about you. Approximately one month ago, my daughter and I visited Markham Mazda to purchase a car. During our initial visit, the dealership advised us that there was no inventory for the car we were interested in. A few days later we received an email from the Sales Associate Krish (who assisted us), advising us that they had received an allocation of cars, specifically, the model we were interested in. We returned to the dealership to purchase the car. During the transaction, Krish (Sales Associate) and the Jerry (The Sales Manager) advised us that pending credit approval, the car would. be reserved for us with an expected delivery date at at the end of April. They also promised to connect with us within a week, to confirm that the car had been reserved and provide an exact delivery date. One month went by, with zero follow up. We sent emails that were unanswered, and when we made contract via phone, we were told by Krish (Sales Associate), that there. was no information available, but he would reach out when there was. We finally went to speak to Jerry (Sales Manager). He told us that the initial allocation had been slashed, and that he did not know when a car would become available. No alternative options were provided, Krish nor Jerry seemed to care about finding a resolution, and they seemed okay keeping the deposit while, we waited with no timeline for delivery of the vehicle we purchased because they TOLD US THERE WAS STOCK. Thankfully we had a deposit return clause written in to the purchase agreement, so we were able to have our deposit refunded. If you're buying a car, and want service, DON'T go to Markham Mazda. They'll take your money, provide you with zero service, and they are not customer service or resolution focused. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND Markham Mazda. BEWARE. read more

A very positive buying experience at Markham Mazda. I was looking for a used vehicle for my daughter. For the particular make/model we were shopping for, I visited 3 brand name dealerships. I booked online appoints for all 3. Markham Mazda was the last dealership. As with the other 2, I booked a test drive online and Krish M. (Sales person) replied very quickly. My wife and I went to the appointment, took the car out for the test drive. All 3 cars we tested were basically the same aside from vehicle color and slight price differences. Krish took the time to listen to us, explained things to us. He took the time to address additional requests we had as a good Sales person does. He was quite clear on what he could or could not do and set expectations. We were planning to buy the vehicle out right (no financing), so in this day and age, no price negotiation (they just dropped 1K off the price about 2 weeks ago) and that is basically the position of every brand dealership. It is a sellers market at the time of this review. We decided to purchase the vehicle, the main decisive factor was the overall sales experience thus far. Case in point, Kris advised the Rick D. (Financial Services Manager) wanted to know if who the ownership would be under(my daughter or myself), meaning he shared a key piece of information with Rick to avoid errors, meaning the Markham Mazda team was communicating effectively. Of course you go through the ritual of meeting the Sales Manager as well. We signed off, dropped a payment down and agreed upon a pickup date. Krish advised what the process was for the remainder of the transaction. I also got reminder email Rick which was helpful. A few days later we picked up the vehicle and my daughter was very happy, They delivered on exactly what was agreed upon and on the agreed date for pickup. A very pleasant and efficient experience. It might be Interesting enough, when I was there to pick up the vehicle with my daughter, I bumped into a former KIA sales person that I bought my last vehicle from - Hameed D.- Another excellent salesperson. Did I read reviews before I came to this dealership ? Absolutely. What I did was sort through the comments and reviewed the content - good and bad. I can say treating others politely and respectfully yields politeness and respect in return. Get negotiation dialogue in emails so it's documented, otherwise it is hearsay or a potential language/communication issue as we live in a multicultural society. Buying a big ticket item can be very emotional and many times it is what the buyer/seller feel they heard/understood. People at Car Dealerships work hard, from the Reception desk to sales people to business people to the mechanics and service operation functions. Treat them as you want to be treated, when in doubt get documentation where both parties have agreed to. And yep, sometimes people make mistakes - that makes us human. If I ever decide to buy a Mazda vehicle, this dealership will be the first dealership I visit. read more

My step son bought a used Hyundai from Markham Mazda in October. They were great until they closed the deal, after that, they were totally unresponsive. The rep, Anson, promised buffing of scratches that was not done. Promised a repair that was not done, and then promised the part to make the repair. We finally got it IN MAY. Also in the contract was a set of used summer tires, as it came with winters. Didn't get them until MAY. We had been promised that they would pass safety. These are balding and one is cracked. Check Engine light came on, in my Mazda 3...Took it to a friend who had a OBDI Code Reader, and turned out that the car had a bad thermostat that needed to be replaced... Called all the Mazda Dealerships, Workshops and a few of the local mechanics...Based on their pricing of the labour & parts, decided to make an appointment and come in to Markham Mazda... Being punctual, I showed up about 10mins before the appointment...There wasn't anybody at either of the Service Desks, and John behind the glass room with labels Service & Parts called me in after I was looking around for a minute or two... I told him about the problem, what I had done to check the car, and the conversation I had with a gentleman on the phone while making the appointment...He said that he can fix the problem with a full & through diagnosis, but he'd rather not... Any dealership & most mechanics would rather diagnose the car, so I let him proceed with the Diagnosis...He asked me for the keys and the car's ownership, filled up a form, gave me back my ownership and asked me if I needed to be dropped off and picked up in their Courtesy Vehicle...I had an open schedule so he advised me to wait in their lounge and said it'll take 2hrs atleast... Now the lounge isn't what I'd call a lounge, a waiting area at best...But that's understandable being the fact that they're one of the smallest Mazda Dealerships in the GTA... But hey, they've got free wifi, so pop out your phone, tablet, notebook and do whatever you have to do to while away the time... John came back after an hour and told me they've found a broken Engine Mount during the diagnosis and advised that I replace it, even though I could drive a month or two with the broken part...I told him to change it... 2hrs later the girl at the service desk came in and advised me that the car is ready and that I'm good to go... Now for the hard part, the bill was more than twice the initial estimate given by the advisor on the phone...But that didn't include the diagnosis, and the Parts+Labour to fix the broken Engine Mount, so I let it go... I asked if I could inspect the car before I paid my bill, and they have me the keys to the car and the girl walked outside with me... It seemed like a job done well, and not worth haggling over the price...Btw, I'm not a very good haggler... I paid my bill, and left...And the car's been good since, touchwood...!!! P.S.: Labour is $105+Taxes for an hour... read more

My experiences here have only been getting my vehicle serviced, so I don't know about the purchasing side. I really like the customer service I get here. I usually deal with the assistant manager, Chris. He's extremely professional and very courteous. He always explains the reasoning behind the service and why things need to be done. Whenever I decide I don't want to do something, he makes sure to put it on paper and skip that. Chris is not pushy when it comes to recommending what to work on. If you're not a relatively older person (age 35 and up) or if you're not car shopping with your family, don't bother going to this dealership for anything. I walked into this place and must have walked around browsing and inspecting cars for at least a half hour. Not a single sales person came up to me to ask me if I needed anything or had any questions. During this time I saw a few older customers and some with family members get approached by sales people the minute they walked through the door. This isn't a huge dealership so I overheard most of the conversations and these customers didn't have appointments nor were the sales people very busy. You shouldn't have to feel like you're forcing your sale on to them or that you're not a potential customer just because you don't look a certain way. Do yourself a favour and go to avante Mazda or Mazda of Toronto. I had no issues there and they were more than willing to take my money. read more

I bought my mazda 5 from here back in 2011. There was a nice saleslady there, she didnt know that much, but she was patient, and not pushy. We gave her "her first sale". After that, she remembered us whenever we walked in there. I hate the fact that, now if you walk into any dealership, that everyone is on commission and will give you more attention if you look like you are ready to buy a car. Subaru has changed their concept, they post the lowest price on the car, and does not negotiate pricing. Which is nice because, salespeople don't say - lets make a deal, or or you ready to buy today. Anyhow, i give 4 stars for my experience with buying a car here. I give 2-3 stars to the service dept. They were never friendly when i was there, a bit cold for some reason. Parts dept... maybe 2-3stars, not very knowlegable. I needed 2 trim rivet screws, and he kept asking if i know the part number.. trim rivet screws are found in all the mazda cars and they probably use one type, i even had a sample with me. So, yes, i recommend this dealership, you just have to pick the right salesperson. Whenever car shopping, go in your daily clothes, and if you did your research, who cares if the salesperson doesnt know much, as long as they treat you with honesty and respect. I would not trust the top salesperson, who seems to know alot, but is pushy and says - are you ready to buy today. read more

"Received car with NO OIL in engine after Oil Change." Took my Mazda in for an oil change at Markham Mazda and drove home after and parked my car on my driveway. Decided to check the oil level the next day and found that there was no oil registering on the dipstick. In disbelief I checked it a few more times with the same result. Called the Service Manager at Markham Mazda and he came over and confirmed my findings and filled the engine with approximately 4 litres of oil and went off on his merry way. He did not start the engine to see if was OK nor did he offer to have the car back to the shop to check if the engine was OK. I now am left to take my car to another repair facility to check for any damage caused due to their negligence. I cannot believe that this is the level of service you would receive from an accredited Mazda dealer, especially for a simple oil change. read more

I bought a New Mazda here last year, within less than a few weeks malfunctions warning lights on several times, had to bring the superposed to be a brand new vehicle back immediately each time, after they run diagnostic scan report no issues, just turn need to turn the warning lights off. There was a time that the warning on with sound, I was 3/4 of my way to work in the morning rush hours, I pull over and look up the owner manual the warning means unsafe to drive have to turn around after 40kms on the highway bring it back and wait the whole morning report no issue. Unhappy with the car, unhappy with the services and Dealerships. Every-time I took my car back I was told they will take a look and if the issue is not within warranty, I have to pay $$$ for diagnostic fee, that sounds ridiculous for a new car I bought from them less than a month. I took my car to other Mazda for schedule maintenance service instead. read more

For those know me I usually do food reviews, however this business is one of the few exceptions. As one VW employee recommended me to buy a Mazda, I took a chance on faith and its reputable zoom-zoom craze. Though I did not buy my mazduh from this particular location, its convenience and good looking people (jks) well...no comment.. are extremely friendly service is what retains Mazda's loyal clientele. . The overall atmosphere is clean, odour free and well mapped. However I did find the customer wait area was crammed and quite small in comparison to the old location. However the dealer coordinator was kinda enough to offer me coffee, and water.. and a smile lol haha... what I really admired was the fact that the employees are very knowledgeable and even went above and beyond to offer a complimentary car wash!!! I almost didn't recognize my vehicle. read more

The level of incompetence at this dealership is laughable. Three different departments at war to see who can make the most money from you. Enjoy getting fleeced for money, whether its the sales, finance, or service department. Charges coming out the wazoo that rival luxury brands. Expect to get different answers from different people for simple questions. The problem is deeply rooted at the organization level. Have some self-respect and go to another Mazda dealership and leave this stealership. read more

Unfortunately, no stars was not an option. Purchased a vehicle here awhile back. They were a bit pushy, but had the vehicle I wanted in stock, so I dealt with it. After I got the vehicle, I started to drive home and the driver window stopped working. I was already 2 hours into my drive, so I called and booked an appointment for the following week. Was the first appointment of the day and got my car back just before they closed. Started my drive home, same issue arose. Made another appointment. Came to my next appointment and was told they'd need my car overnight. Picked it up the next day, with over 100kms added to my odometer. Not sure what the driving had to do with my window? Anywho. Their "fix" lasted one day, so I took it to a different Mazda dealer. They had it fixed in 15mins and it never came back. A couple years later, traded it in and I find out from the Mazda dealership that opened in my town, that this car should never have passed its safety, due to various other issues that I was not aware of. So if you're looking for an unsafe vehicle and less than mediocre service. Markham Mazda is the right place. I love Mazda's, but I do not trust a single vehicle that comes off their lot. read more

Accompanied my fiance to get her 3rd car here. She was offered to do an early trade to lease a new one, one of sales guy Michael, was the one dealing with us. We felt we had to chase after him daily to get what needs to be done to get the car ready. On the day of the pickup he failed to mention they need true photocopy of the returning car, and was inconveniently rescheduled next day to pickup because of this. Management before this was fine, what happened to this location, will not return if management is still the same a year from now when I finance a new mazda. read more

Have tried on 4 occasions on the last 7 days to get through to a service department individual to get an appointment, leaving two messages. Update: got appointment finally, but unfortunately not a great experience. After being a loyal customer for 3 years, was told that shuttle service going to my workplace would not be possible unless getting major service. Young man at service desk also called me "buddy." WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I believe I get better customer service at McDonald's than this Mazda dealership. I probably wouldn't even give one star if I've option to do so. I went to "SEE" a used car. Sales agent showed me one car and we took test drive. He didn't even had enough information what he is talking about. After test drive I informed him today I've one more appointment for test drive and he started insisting why wouldn't you buy this car if I give you a good deal. Even though I informed him more than two times I believe in having couple of options before I make final decision. If we go and see something it doesn't mean we've to buy it right? This sales agent need to understand you can not throw away few thousand dollars like a peanuts. I met sales agent JOSHUA ZHAN. He is very rude and impolite sales agent. We took test drive and before we leave dealership he gave us offer then when we came back after sometime and his offer went up almost twofold. I lost last bit of respect for him when he told me "YOU SHOULD GO TO OTHER DEALERSHIP AND BUY THAT CAR. IT MUST BE BETTER OPTION FOR YOU" He really need to improve customer service skills and calm his ego down while he talk to customer. Rejection and obligations are the part of sales.
