The cleanliness at the Katy location went down over the last months. I have found rotten and expired food in the shelves. When I highlighted it to the staff they were rather upset and angry instead of taking care of it. Last incident on Saturday 12-Oct where I was told it is not their department so they do not care. I love this place!! My husband said their roast chicken was the best he's ever had, and it's one his favorite dishes he gets everywhere. I got the daily special and for 5 dollars I got a really large bowl of what tasted like stroganoff without noodles, just big tender chunks of beef in a really amazing sauce. The whole place is fun to explore. I really like the Russian corner. They have produce, American cereals and all sorts of Arabic, Italian, Irish, English, Scottish etc goods. My husband and I made a whole date of it. If you go get some gelattito on the way out, it's only 5 carbs. read more

We have been loyal customers at Harvest for some time. It stops now. I would highly recommend shopping at Harvest if you're the type of customer that loves getting ripped off, or if you like throwing your money away. I noticed significant price fluctuations (bordering on price gouging) in their organic milk prices (Horizon, Organic Valley, and Kalona). On several occasions, the front register and/or manager have marked down the $8.99 - $9.99 prices when we have complained that it was significantly higher than other stores in the area. Organic valley now costs $8 per half gallon, and Kalona costs $7.29. In comparison, we can get the same products at Sprouts for $5.99. Harvest themselves were selling Kalona for $4.99 just a few months ago. I have heard all the excuses from the Manager, from being new to the market right down to low margins on high supplier prices. We are considering boycotting the store and lodging a serious complaint with their corporate offices. In the interim, I asked Harvest to completely shut down their supply chain and sourcing teams, and buy milk straight from the cows. Maybe this way they have a shot at staying profitable without ripping off the few loyal customers they continue to have. Harsh much? I think not. read more

Half Trader Joe's, half mall food court, but groceries are too expensive. As you walk-in the store, you will see small restaurant and grocery stations around the walls: floral, coffee/cappuccino, smoothies, frozen yogurt, waffles on a stick, wine, spices, meat, seafood, pizza, kabobs & gyros. The middle of the store is like a Trader Joes wanna-be. I came into the store for vegetables, but the nearby Sprouts has cheaper produce and a better selection. I did purchase some packaged salad, but the sale price was about the same as the regular price at Sprouts. HNM has more of an international flavor to it, but does have some health food store items. One thing that grabbed my interest was that you can grind your own peanut or almond butter. I started with a cup of coffee at the coffee station. Although it was offered at a special fifty cent price, there was nothing special about the taste, not at all like something you would normally get at a coffee house. I also checked the coffee aisle, hoping to see some tasty, bulk whole-bean varieties, such as what you would see at Sprouts or HEB. All I saw were K-Cups and coffee you would find at a better price at the nearby Walmart. Disappointing. I sampled some wine, a cab from Argentina. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great. I instead bought a bottle of cabernet from Chile that the wine guy recommended. The Chilean cab was very tart by itself, but better with some cheese. Two-buck-Chuck and Winking Owl are better wines, IMHO. The salad bar is $7.99 a pound, and part of it is an olive bar, a pasta bar, soups, and cooked vegetables such as zucchini, asparagus, rice, and mushrooms. It was 5pm on a Sunday, and the pasta was hard and the pasta sauce was crusty on top...it did not look appetizing. It may be better to stop by at lunchtime for fresh food. I think I will stop back for some waffles on a stick, maybe a kabob. Other than that, there was really nothing that I would rather get at HNM over nearby Trader Joes, Sprouts, Kroger or Walmart. read more

Used to be a neat and clean facility with friendly and professional staff Now it's just a bunch of wierd ppl working as staff have no idea about produce or customer service. The vegetable and fruit sections are empty on occasions. They would have items on listed in the sales section outside which when brought in are not on sale They even changed the menu inside and make the worst gyro I have ever eaten. Have watched the place build out so stopped today and essentially myself and two others had a pleasant stroll. Tiny floral shop as you walk in the door-new kinks are still being worked out. This was an epicurean adventure and dining here most important as shopping is too costly. No comparison to WF or Sprouts - first stop juice bar where I had watermelon lemonade and consumed 6 almond cookies. Wine selection amazing but I snagged a bottle of wine from Spain, looked like a jug of urine and IMO taste the same although I am not from Sweden and I don't subscribe to drinking my own urine as a health bonus. Decanting recommended but that won't help so maybe it will kill slugs. Next stop a beautiful ribeye-TBD on quality - exciting pork chops to tempt the grill but the grand revelation...macaroons. Bought six, consumed six. Not weighing today. Fresh veggies but flying to Calistoga might be cheaper-$6.00 for an artichoke. No security lurking and staff were pleasant and helpful. I just buy a house in Katy and moved 3 weeks ago. I love all items and I can find everything. I should say thanks to owner. But there is a manager in there. His name is Jose. I went there with my service dog with certificate and he gives me hard time. And he said " get out my store" And second time I went there. I forgot my mask in my car. He said " you can not shopping here. I said you right I just forgot it and I am gonna get it. He said just get out here and don't come back here. " it was super suprise for me. It's my only store I can shopping because there are a lot of good Turkish stuff. But I don't know how can I go there. Because he told me I am the boss here. You can not talk with anybody. If you don't like me, don't come my store. But I am Pretty sure, he is not owner. When I ask is there any number for management office. He said no it's my store. I don't have any problem with him or his store. I just have a problem with conversation. And I love my dog. My dog have to came with me everywhere. She has certificate. Bad, bad customer service.. I had seen the ads on the local newspaper and decided to give it a try since my favorite empanada place was closed on Monday and what a big disappointment! I walked in, the store looked ok, nothing special. I walked to the restaurant area and there's a couple of employees standing there, no customers so nothing to do.. the First Lady a see just looks at me and says nothing ok.. I move on to the other area. There's a guy playing with his cellphone and doesn't even acknowledge me.. so I ask him if I can have a couple of arepas and he's like ok what kind. Again no smile, no greeting. He starts making them and then I say if I can also have a cachapa.. I sit down and wait for a looong time. Finally they're done, I pay and take them home. Again not a thank you or even a smile.: I get home and try the food and what a big disappointment again. The arepas had no flavor, the meat was dry and missing flavor. He cachapa was ok, didn't look but but it actually tasted ok.. Will I ever return to this place? Hell No!!.. I spent close to $20 (5.50 each arepa & 6.99 for the cachapa).. and I can honestly say I could spend that much money somewhere else where they have better tasting food and MUCH better customer service!! read more

Just left here....young lady (short dark hair and glasses) checking customers out was very nice to the customer right in front of me and was clearly annoyed that I was waiting in line to be checked out - I gave ample space between the customer being checked out and myself to let them know I wasn't being pushy. Once I walked up to the register and started speaking in English (I am Colombian but look American) she was very rude. Makes me not want to come back here. I live in the neighborhood right next to Harvest and am so sad that the many times I've come into the store I feel unwelcome. Also, most of the food on the shelves is expired. Be sure to check the dates if you decide to shop here. On another note, I've had great experiences w the restaurant inside the store (The cafeteria style one). Sweet little homey grocery. Reminiscent of something you might visit in Russia as a matter of fact they have quite a bit of Russian items including meats and fish as well as dry goods. So. Why not go to a place that have fresh ingredients, vegetables and smiles all the time. It what I say to myself. It's a bit pricey but it's worth at least checking it out. Sometimes they have really great specials on needed items. But did you know that they had c a bar inside? Neither did I, They also have kereoke on some nights even shoot live video and upload it on their fb page. It's pretty cool. Not to mention how nice and clean it is. Everything is in its place and the cashiers and management all seem to be very polite all the time they greet you when they see you with genuine smiles. It smells so good inside too. I forgot my receipt, so I called them to get a copy and to make sure the cashier had thrown it away. I asked to talk to the manager. She got my name and e-mail. I hadn't finished giving her the "gmail" portion (red flag) and she cut me off and said she would call me back in 10-15 minutes. I then told her I didn't tell you that it's "gmail" and proceeded to give her the entire e-mail again, just to be extra sure. It's been three days and no call, no e-mail. I don't think they really care about their customers. There are privacy laws and they should take something like this seriously as there could be serious repercussions if my credit card number was to be stolen in the future. If you want to shop here, I suggest using cash. My suggestion is not to shop here at all and go someplace you can feel safe using your credit card. read more

I live a quarter mile from this store. I try to give it my business but they don't seem to want it. I buy a lot of steaks and there is almost never anyone in the meat market. I just left here. I timed it. 17 minutes either standing in front of the meat counter or walking around looking lost. Not one person spoke to me. It's the norm here. Got my steak. I went back in. Tiny little market with some fast food type counters inside. I went here after a yoga class recently thinking I could get some fruit or even possibly some items by lesser known brands. Upon looking around, I found that many of the brands here are pretty much the same as at any major grocer. I didn't purchase anything on this trip, but after looking around I can say that they are not uniformly more expensive than the larger grocers. I really thought I would get some great produce here, but meh. The price wasn't too bad, but the selection was smaller than I hoped. I was also hoping for some ice cream. Their selection was small - lots of empty shelves. I would come here if I were getting takeout to bring home after my yoga class, but otherwise I will skip it. read more

Purchased a small cheese pizza for my toddler and it was soggy , wet with the cheese sliding off. Home frozen pizza would taste better. The grocery store itself is mediocre, they don't have an organic produce section. Maybe only the carrots were organic. Walked out disappointed with only my soggy pizza purchase. As far as health markets go, think of genuine vs knockoff items, like glass vs ceramic, real gold vs plastic gold, genuine leather vs whatever a fake leather is called.... This is a knock-off as far as health markets go. The design of the store and the marketing: Excellent! Well done! I couldn't help but notice the placing of certain foods, like having a wall of health beverages and smack in the middle is a giant cake bread glazed over, completely out of place... Strategically placed there to draw eyes to that beverage wall. I notice strategic placement of cancer-causing-delicious-looking-foods all over the store. I left with a first-in-my-life impression that the company only cares about making money, not promoting health. It seems to me like they are hi-jacking the "natural" and "health market" phrases in order to make more money. Imagine a Honda Civic with a "Lamborghini" logo on it. Anyone that knows the difference between genuine and fake will know that the car is not a Lamborghini. Horrible costumer service! I had to step in behind the bakery counter to grab a piece of cake after the 2 guys standing there said to my father in law, my wife and I, that they were too busy to give us a hand (they were on their cell phones). One of them even said to us, that it was not his job to do that and then he just turned his back to us (while being just 5ft away from the product we wanted). And then at register they made us wait even more becuse the cashier didn't know the price for the tiny little cake. It was interesting to goto a new store and see the different items that are not found in other stores! They have both organic and non. We even saw Dustin our favorite guy that used to work at Whole foods! Thumbs up to that! Lol He was so nice n enthusiastic about helping us. He even remembered me and my girls! So it was a nice run in not knowing anyone in Katy really. Their burgers and gyros were surprisingly good. I Liked the purple saukurat like they put in the gyro. I bought some good Asian instant noodles lol. I even found a pink salt lamp there that i absolutely love! My kids loved their mini cupcakes and hey guy behind the counter there was very helpful and even sweet. The cashier, not so much smiles but i guess not everyone needs to speak. They do need to separate the seafood from the rest of the store. It makes the store smell like fish. Ew I think the size affects the "aeration" of fish. Well see how i goes as we frequent this place. Ps. We are avoiding whole foods for a bit. Because: To me customer service by far is THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT TO FOODS and services. Awesome place! Definitely didn't expect to like a grocery store this much. The owner saw us looking at different food options in the cafe. We were leaving and he asked us why we didn't try anything. He sat us down and said no you can't walk out hungry. He served us food. Incredibly hospitable. The red lentil soup was AMAZING. Got an additional two cups to go for lunch tomorrow. Shopped around the store for a bit. 6oz of dried figs for $1.50! Cheapest I've ever seen. Lots of products I'd never seen before. Will be back! read more

Really nice store. Everyone is very nice. Met the manager today. And they have the Hugo bar soaps that I miss so much. They're near impossible to find in Houston area. Went in again yesterday. I was extremely excited about their pizzas. They looked great but the taste fell short. I do love the ground beef pide. Don't bother with the cheese and pepperoni pide, it's basically a pizza. I expect a store such as this to be expensive but they are clearly over priced for regular items sold on any local grocery store. This is a great place to browse or pick up some quick wine. Went there for the first time was not disappointed! Upon first glance i thought it would be expensive because it looks similar to whole foods but in the contrary, they have great prices. Lots of different items you wont find in other groceries stores. It has a bar, different restaurants, fresh meat/fish to choose from and stores with international items. I love this store! It's my absolute favorite. I refuse to go to the big stores around here especially when Harvest has everything I need. The wine selection is incredible and I love love love the butcher. The wine bar/coffee shop always has friendly service. My kiddo is ecstatic about the small shopping carts and helps pick out the fresh produce. It's so easy to just run in quickly for a wine and cheese, or spend an afternoon perusing their unique selections. I tend to cook gluten free, organic, fresh foods, and they really cater to those needs....on the other hand, they also have all of the kid friendly foods my toddler has come to know and love. Mary, the "wine chick", is such a doll and I can't to chit chat about new, very fair-priced wines. I look forward to coming here each week. read more

I visited this place for the first time this week. I was fairly impressed by the diversity of the food choices. However, as an avid shopper I was disappointed in the prices. So many overpriced things. There was even a sign on the shrimp that said it was 4.99/lb and somehow it got rang up for 6.99/lb by the man in the seafood section. I was also pretty disappointed that it was frozen solid with ice chunks on it when I opened it when I got home. The milk was extremely overpriced in the store. I could have gotten a local Texas milk at basically any grocery chain for much cheaper. I was happy to buy local Katy honey but coming from a family who makes honey I was a little surprised by the price of that as well. I chalked that up to being a different market and it being sold in a grocer not a real market. I thought that customer service was okay. The man in the seafood department and at the register when I checked out were both very kind. However, I did not receive any help or hospitality anywhere else in the store. I'm not sure that I will be returning but only time will tell. I did find a few deals on fresh vegetables but that was about all. read more
