This market is right in my neighborhood, and I shop here about three times a week. They have a great vareity of fresh and packaged foods, yet everything is easy to find. No wandering around through aisle after aisle wondering if pickles are with the vegetables, condiments or relishes. The prices are generally very reasonable overall. Service is great. The meat department is the best I know of in the area, and so is the wine selection. You need to start shopping here--you will love it. read more

Small market off Southfield, specialty store, like a Westborn or Holiday, but smaller. It's just packed full off shelves of your basic grocery items. I do like coming here if I want any homemade deli food items or produce, they have a nice selection of produce. It can get a slow at the registers if it's busy, so do keep that in mind if you are in a rush, may not move quick enough for you then. It has a small town feel here, think it's a one off. read more

I had a major incident with Danielle last year and nothing has changed. Furthermore, I was at Market Square today on 14 Mile and Southfield Road, which I also shopped at frequently, and was treated like garbage by the owner's son, Laith, today after I complimented him on the excellent specialty foods at this location and he brought up an incident from 7-8 years ago. That was the last straw and I will never go back. I advise everyone in the Jewish Community to stop shopping here, they don't like us, yet tolerate us for money and business sales It's a sad state of affairs when I the owner's son, Laith, a compliment and he brings up an issue that was due to his inept bookkeeping staff at both locations. This is a sad ending with these 3 stores as my late parents were their best customers in the West Bloomfield store before they even had a free-standing store in West Bloomfield. Well, when the treatment of a customer from an owner is rude and out of context, it is time to move on. I suggest Papa Joe's as a better alternative. Much better service, specialty foods, real seafood spread, not fake like Market Fresh and market square, and no expired food in the dairy, cheese, and fruit section, etc., and less aggravation. If you're less than 5 ft 7in there is no point in shopping at the deli counter because they claim they cannot see you yet they have tons of food stacked on top of the deli counter to block their view of you. They also cannot hear you over their headphones, slicers or running water either. Possible solutions....... 1. A bell 2. A stepstool available for "short people" to step upon and wave their hands around crazy-like to get someone's attention. 3. The ability to order ahead and come pick it up and have it be ready like they do at Papa Joe's I have left unserved in the past advising the counter staff of why.... yet this is still a problem. Otherwise. This store is great and clean and located well and seems to be the only place that sells lemon pepper board head in the area. Do I will continue to endure... maybe I will bring a bell next time and hot glue gun it to the deli case! read more

Lovely neighborhood grocery store. The staff is super helpful and efficient. I can swing in and get all my weekly groceries in under a half an hour. The produce, meat and dairy are competitively priced and fresh. We don't do processed food so I cannot comment on processed food price competitiveness. Market Square is, without a doubt, the best little grocery around the corner you could find on, well, any corner in the United States. It's definitely pricey for the grocery items in the middle of the store, but everything on the perimeter (produce, wine, deli) is pretty competitively priced. Especially the produce! My favorite item from this store is the dill & onion dip behind the deli counter. It's delicious on vegetables! We've also had great success with their catering for family parties. Service is wonderful, and you can tell the owners take great pride in this place -- everything is clean, and they seem to update or remodel the store every 18 months or so. read more

Great little store - awesome selection for such a small and convenient location. Everything seems high quality, and the staff is always eager to please. A special mention for their wine department, too. Great selection that spans the globe (they have a wide variety of Alsatian, German and Austrian Rieslings, for example), and very competitively priced. And the department head, Frank, is always willing to give you a great deal if you're planning a big event. We worked with him to buy the wine for our wedding in October and he couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Highly recommended. read more

I was introduced to Market Square as a dirty little secret. A friend of mine had a "tab" there and we would go get "free lunches" in high school (note: said friend with tab always accompanied me). That was when I met my favorite chicken salad. No, it's not complicated with nuts or grapes, just straight-up chicken salad with come celery and seasoning of course. I usually come here and just buy a medium size and eat it straight from the container.. who needs bread anyway? I agree with Sarah that it is expensive to do your weekly grocery trips, but their prepared foods are where it's at. Another new-found love for Market Square blossomed when I realized they carry my favorite popsicle-- It sounds weird, but this pop is difficult to find! This is just a great little market that is about to turn into a bigger, little market. First, let's just say that it has a really nice wine selection at better prices than Meijer or Beverage Warehouse. Really. I shop for the wine that I like. No need to look further, if you've found it at a better price it must be on sale. Next, there meats are really delish. Mostly prime. They're very accommodating and will make sure that you have exactly what you want. Deli and in-house kitchen items will make everyone believe that you can cook. The chef, Greg Ervin, who just came over from their W. Bloomfield store is well renowned and just the guy you want backing you up in the "a few friends are stopping by" business. The grocery items are pricey compared to chain stores, but everything on the perimeter (produce, meat, wine, deli) is pretty competitively priced. Hands down, they have the best low fat chicken salad. We eat it straight from the container. It's not fussy, but just perfect. We've tired nearly every chicken salad for miles too. Our kids really enjoy the homemade pot pies and pizza, and the produce section. Service is always great. Is it your fabulous(a little $$$) selection of prepared foods and the best hummus I have ever had? Is it your selection of various chocolates???? Is it your super fresh produce and fantastic meats? I don't recommend going here for 'grocery shopping' as the basics are pretty expensive, but if you need a thing or 2 this place will have what you need. You cannot go wrong with any prepped foods and dips for a party-bring the Mexicali dip to your next gathering and you be a full fledged hero and you will get sick of hearing, "Where did you get this?" They also have a location in the WB, however this one is bigger and has more selections. The one star is for the international wine selection. I selected an Australian Shiraz wine to take home. This place is claustrophobic and shelving is extremely high. Imagine fitting six people in a VW Beetle. I was not impressed with the overall food selection. Holliday market can run circles around this place for international items. Produce section is heavily saturated with conventional items. Meat selection is not much to cry home about. Mainly red meat. A few wild caught sea items. Chicken blah. Along with my wine, I purchased a jar of beets and a jar of olives and this is where they lost my business: The lady bagged my olives and beets in wine bags, but put my wine in my cloth bag. Who does this type of foolery? Wine bags are for wine, not jars? She was overall snoody and seemed annoyed that I was adding to her paycheck. I'm a big fan of stopping by this specialty store for sandwiches and other items on-the-go. The service is impeccable. They truly go out of their way to make sure that you're treated with the best. If you want an example, head to the deli department and order a sandwich. The meats are fresh. They'll open a new bag of bread for you and they hunt of vegetables to put on the spread. You can't find that often in the set options of today. Market Square is a great pit stop for sandwiches and other small items to gather for a road trip. This is the best place ever for getting something you need for that night. They have everything you could ever wish for. At least the best of everything. There are even pre-made food which I've never had but people I know love it. The wine selection is unbelievable. They have very helpful little placards right in front of the wine bottles. And to top it off they have someone to help you pick things out if you need help. The people at the front counter are so friendly and they make sure that you get out of there quickly. I literally get in and out within 5 to 10 minutes max. Meanwhile the quality of everything is outstanding. The wine, the food, the produce. There is outstandingly positive! This is the best little grocery store around! They have the best pre-made food - the pizza is amazing. Their wine selection is wonderful as well (nearly 4 isles). I wouldn't recommend doing your every day shopping here as it can get a bit pricey but the produce and meat prices are fair. Simply the best place for my favorite Brats in the area, Dearborn brand...their Tuna fish salad has been a staple in my life since I tried it a few years ago, the kabobs, the steaks, the burgers...even the meatloaf...all of a superior quality to any other market in the area. They also have a great selection of wine. Anything from their deli is really just supremely done. We had them cater my brother's reception party and the Middle eastern plate was such a big hit that I think it's safe to say that I'm not the only one with such a high opinion of their food. read more

Super convenient! They have a great selection of produce, meats, and cooked meals. The prices are a little high but typical and understood for being in Birmingham and the quality of their ingredients are top notch. The wine is selection is phenomenal and they have a wide variety for any occasion. They are always redoing the store and remodeling to make it look even nicer all the time! I'm new to the area and let's just say I've almost had it with a couple local chains (no names). Anywho, I was pleasantly surprised at the prices! I knew it had to be a pretty decent market because of its location but I went there for produce and ended up getting 50% of my groceries from here. So I hit the produce, dry goods, deli and meat department here. I'll make this a go to on my list of markets. My only issue is that they are owned by the same owners as Market Fresh but the prices seem a bit less expensive here....hmmm. maybe I just need to fact check on those prices. read more

Shop here once and you'll shop here forever. The quality and value of their prepared foods and groceries far exceed going to a Kroger (or even a Whole Foods for that matter). I usually go to the other location but I came by this one today. They still have a great selection, nice clean atmosphere with friendly staff.
