The subs here are fantastic! Scott does a helluva job when it comes to making a sub the way you like it. This is probably why it's so busy here. The steak bombs are great here! The service can be a bit slow especially during peak hours and if you haven't called in your order and pulling a ticket at the counter for your number to be called. Excellent hot food service line experience. Market Basket provides a fantastic product in the hot food line with great service and, all at a very economical price. I usually bring a little list of toppings or explanation of what I am looking for and give it to the cook. Once it is cooked, you can head right out the door to enjoy their fine product. Best to get there in off hours though as you can expect a wait around lunch time and around dinner time. A wait of of up to an hour can happen at those times. Specifically for the deli/food prep counter: witnessed several people place orders and then leave because of the extended wait time. Waited for 20 minutes even asking if I needed to pull a number for just the fried food and was told someone would get to me shortly. The staff then proceeded to ignore my existence for 20 minutes. I was not the only one dissatisfied with the wait time. There were 3 to 4 people manning the counter. Don't waste your money on the coffee at the cafe. Tried one of there expresso drinks today, tasted syrupy & couldn't even taste the espresso. So I doubt that the employee even put espresso in the drink. Just go to Dunkin, Aroma Joes or your favorite coffee spot. This is not worth it. Get food here & leave! I loved coming to MB for their deli department. However, today was absolutely the worst experience. The crew behind the counter lacked experience and were the slowest I've ever had. There were over 10 people waiting on their lunch breaks. I'm still waiting. Over 20 minutes. Some people just want wings and fries and have to wait their whole lunch break for some wings and fries that are getting old just sitting there. I don't recommend anyone come here if they're on their lunch break. The crew need training. None of them have any urgency. Going on 25 minutes now and still not served. read more

We visited this location about a week after it opened, we intentionally waited a while in hopes that the crowds of people who just HAD to see the new store were gone. First impression of the store, it's nice, it's big, it's clean, there was no awful smell, but it still has that 70s feel with the old linoleum flooring. They have some stuff that the old store across town doesn't offer, a butcher shop, a café seating area, hot food ordering area where you can get pizzas, sandwiches, etc. I think the old store only offers hot sandwiches? Not sure. The cleanliness will not last long, not in Rochester, just wait until the 5th of the month when all the pajama clad, non-bathing people come out. It'll be trashed in no time, which is sad because it really is a nice store. read more

The takeout food is SOMETIMES Great other times horrible. They cant find anyone competant to work the grill. The orders are usually done wrong. For example when i asked for an italian sub they ask what kind of cheese. Anyone with experience knows that provolone cheese goes in an italian. The most recent visit i ordered 2 steak subs, one steak bomb and one steak mush and jalepeno. I received one steak plain and one steak mushroom. The take out is priced fairly but their competance and service has gone downhill in the past 6 months ALOT. Now i have to open my food and double check everyorder like a prick before i leave, something that shouldnt have to be done. But POOR TRAINING AND POOR MANAGEMENT IS MOST LIKELY TO BLAME. Market Basket - Beef rib dinner - Grocery Near Me - Rochester, New Hampshire

I have been shopping MB for decades in Reading and Wilmington MA. It was the best place to shop compared to the other markets. Quality and prices were good. Due to the recent inflation (2-3 years, thanks Joe!) the prices are not so good anymore, but that is everywhere. I would still give these two locations 4 stars. So, we moved to NH over a year ago and had to shop the Rochester MB, which is an hour away. The other markets in the area are just short of piracy. I do not know how the residents can afford to shop there. My complaints about the Rochester MB are many. The only positive thing is their food court. The cooked food is pretty good. There is never any fresh Parisian bread or Italian bread in the bakery, only old bread that they sell rather than replace it like the other MB locations I frequented. The bread isle is usually pretty empty, but last Friday it was bare. The meat department is not very well managed either as they may put out a few packs of hamburg, or other cuts of meat. They wait til it's been purchased before putting out more product. Again, they leave out a lot of "Manager's Special" old meat forcing the customers to buy it. The produce is yet another joke! They do not often enough put out fresh produce. Last friday they had not put out fresh veggies when I was there. Peppers, eggplant, and various veggies were obviously old, wrinkled and few. Last Friday was especially bad for having shelfs stocked by late afternoon. I think that the managment has to step it up and get the shelves stocked in time, and do not leave "old" food out for sale, take it off the shelves. Rochester can learn valuable lessons from the Reading and Wilmington MB locations. The sad part of the story is that the Rochester store is still better than the other choices in the area. Step it up and make it a 4-5 star market. JMO read more

This is by far one of the best Market Baskets I've been to. It's pretty big and the employees are very helpful. My only gripe with this place is that every time I go there no matter the day there, the shelves are being stocked and boxes take up half the otherwise pretty wide aisles. I traveled the country for the best part of four decades. Market Basket at this location is so far, BY FAR , the best run supermarket I've ever shopped! The quality of their sushi...big city dedicated sushi bar quality! Their prepared dinners are a couple of minutes in a microwave away from a delightful meal. The level of efficiency is admirable and refreshing! Glancing at the the employee name tags tells the story. Each tag displays the number of years of employment, 10, 20, 30, up to 40 years is common. Speaking of the employees, a remarkable assembly of well trained people, with genuine customer satisfaction attitude. Best part of the day is getting the daily provisions ! Oh yeah, forgot to mention price....impossible to find better prices! read more

This place is one of it's own. At the brand new Ridge Shopping Center, along Route 11 in Rochester, Market Basket has just opened it's doors to provide the people of Rochester with another great place to go grocery shopping, as their already is one Market Basket in town. This location is by far superior that any of the other Market Basket locations I've been to in the past, and definitely a whole lot bigger than the ones I visit frequently in Massachusetts. Not only is the store open, vast, and large, the variety is endless, and the prices are great on basically everything in the store. Service is phenomenal, and the store manager, Chris, is super friendly, kind, and helpful. While the store may be busy, the parking lot is huge and the entrances and exits are much better designed for high traffic. The store is set up well, and the staff seem on top of everything, even with being only open for a week! Wonder if Walmart is feeling the lack of sales.... 5 stars for the Rochester Market Basket. So happy to be able to come to such a wonderful grocery store while vacationing in NH! read more

I love this Market Basket location other than how busy it is all the time. I got ice cream for the first time and not only were they HUGE but the girl insisted I take cups and SMOOSHED them down into the cone so it was leaking everywhere all over the sides. Also, as I was waiting, I saw one of the employees behind the counter lick her fingers TWICE to get the coffee filters apart. EW. read more

If you're picking up lunch be prepared to use up 25 mins just to get a sandwich. Workers move at a very relaxed pace. Which is fine, if I didn't need to get back to work myself. Hopefully they'll address this issue moving forward because as it is it's not the most viable option for workers on a lunch break. read more

I visited this store the day it opened and have gone to it ever sense! The selection is huge. One thing that puts Market Masket above it's competition is everyone's willingness to go the extra mile. If someone is stalking an item and you ask where to find something they will walk you to that isle, with a smile, and ask if you need help with anything else. The dairy department has saved boxes for me to move with and walked then to my car. Just yesterday, as I picked up boxes at the front of the store, a young man asked if he could help me to my car. I politely declined. When I reached my car there was another helper who helped me load my car when he saw me putting my toddler in the car. Thank you Market Basket for hiring people that truly know the meaning of great customer service! All this and the prices can't be beat! read more

We have been shopping at Market Basket for years. I would like to say the one on route 11 in Rochester,NH is by far the best. It is clean, the associates are pleasant and helpful, and the items on sale are available at that store. Last week went looking for the boneless, skinless chicken thighs. I was at the Somersworth store, the only thing they had were chicken breast. Another woman was looking for them also and asked someone where they were, her answer was all we have is whats here. I left and told my husband we had to go to route 11 store, sure enough we got our thighs. Please keep up the good work and we will continue to shop there. read more

We just moved to New Hampshire. I wasn't sure where to go grocery shopping. I had tried other stores, and quite honestly, was a little hesitant about coming to this one after reading the reviews. I'm glad I did decide to give it a try because this is definitely where I will continue to shop. I found that I got a lot more food for the money. I also shop by the weekly flyer. This new store is clean and they have a wide variety of everything. I am very impressed how the shelves remain full at all times. I rarely see an empty spot on the shelves. The dairy dept works very hard at keeping the items always stocked and available. I swear those employees in the dairy dept "jog" all through their shift. However...... the cashiers need training. Not the morning shift that has the ADULTS at the register but the ONES in the afternoon whom live home with mommy and daddy. They do not care how they treat the customer because they have not been taught social graces. We customers do not have telepathy and you snot nose drama queens need to learn to communicate. By all means I know there are customers that can be obnoxious, difficult, nasty,..... but I was just trying to help a neighbor. I went into Market Basket today. I help the handicapped with shopping needs. It's a volunteer thing I do. Each person has a different form of paying for their items. Some charge cards, SSI, Ebt, debit, etc. Unfamiliar with some aspects.... I did not realize that "I" needed to express, to the aspirated snot nose cashier, that this card was of a "cash" value, and not a food type purchase. Without going into a rant of novel size... I have decided that I no longer with shop at this wonderful store. I have been going there since it opened and have had nothing but aggravation. I should not have to shop at 7am to be treated decent. I was hungry on my way back home to Farmington from nursing school and so I stopped by the new Market Basket at the Ridge. It took me a little while to navigate, because it's a very large store and very busy. I finally found the 'Cafe' area where they have available a range of food products such as pizza, sushi, salads and other meal items made to order or pre-made. I stood in front of a completely customer free counter at the pizza section and waited almost seven minutes before I was asked if I needed anything. Several employees looked straight at me, but didn't come over. I had a salad made for me from scratch and later when I ate it, found a long blond hair inside. I'm brunette. The salad was also topped with enough dried basil to sink a battleship and I could not eat more than a 1/3 before I ended up throwing the rest away. I asked about chili, I was told there wasn't any. I asked about a calzone, I was told they don't make them and apparently they don't heat them up either. I stood at the sushi counter and was ignored. The subs and sandwiches counter was mobbed and people were standing in line much longer than I was, and were not being helped. I went along to the 'Cafe' where they make coffee and smoothies. Although there was no one at the counter at the time, it was still almost three minutes before I was offered any help. I asked for a smoothie, and was told they only had peach despite the menu board having many more options. The smoothie was not thick at all, seeming rather melted and had a chemical aftertaste. Would I go there for groceries? Yes, the store is beautiful and the prices are amazing. Will I ever visit their cafe and eatery section again? Absolutely not. read more

I have been to this store five times, and have been very happy each time. The huge selection of products, excellent prices and friendly staff make this a great place to shop, even if it is about 35 minutes from home. I've read some of the other reviews. and do not agree that this place has a 70's feel, will soon be trashed, etc. I have been to many of the other MB locations, and except for the one in Biddeford, ME, this is by far the best! It was pretty crowded on four of my five visits, but that is to be expected. You need to be prepared for that. I have been in the other Rochester store on the 5th of the month--if that is accurate--and was not pleased to have to wait while people used their welfare vouchers and held up the check out lines, but will know to avoid that day. And I like this location, as there are a number of other shops right there and you can easily spend half a day shopping. Some good restaurants nearby, as well. Keep up the good work, MB!! read more
