Great, local store. Food cooked to order and the store has all the things you might need in a pinch!

I asked the produce guy this morning if they had watermelon spears and I apologized for asking him. He went back looked came out and said it would be 20 minutes before they would be out because the person is on break that's in charge of that. I was thinking WTH! Again, the only reason I shop here is out of necessity. This would be my last choice of any Hannaford.

It's been a 5-star experience each time I use the service. I do wish the parking spots were on the other side of where they are now; it can be challenging to pull into a spot when it gets busy there. You have to be very careful when leaving & BOLO for people / other cars coming & going. I highly suggest not going at opening for the produce area; the associates are typically stocking at this time so there are a lot of empty spots & carts full of produce all around. It's tough to navigate with a cart & other people trying to get by, but it's not a big deal. The deli area tends to be fully stocked with pre-sliced cheese & meat. It's convenient to pick through & find the quantity you want. The average weight is 1 lb. which is perfect for me & my husband. The seafood counter is not always staffed but the associates in the meat dept. can help cover. Lester in the meat dept. is a wonderful employee that will not ignore anyone. He's prompt to ask if he can help you find anything. He will come out from behind the counter to assist you.

On checking out the cashier had her face shield pushed above her mouth with no face mask. Here's a quick rundown of my visit: - Not much of a selection in terms of organic produce - A wider gluten-free selection available than other markets, but mostly limited to dry pantry goods. - frozen section seriously needed to be restocked, it looks pandemic-empty, while other nearby markets are well stocked. - Not much of a seafood selection, although I do appreciate they have sustainable local shrimp available. - social distancing markers exists, not sure they're well followed by customers. (Which if we weren't there as soon as it opened... we'd be really concerned). - gluten free chicken nuggets and dumplings were the best finds and reasons I'll be back. FYI - If you are concerned about pandemic safety like me, I highly recommend showing up first thing in the morning when they open in a weekday. This place really does get busy after that.

I Bank at Camden Bank so I asked if they could hold the groceries while I went to the bank to get some cash. Luckly, I go to that branch often and they know me so I didn't need my ID to take some cash out. I went back to the store to pay for the groceries and when they run them up, I was $7.00 short. The young gentleman at the register took out his wallet and pulled out the $7.00 to pay the balance. I told I could just put a couple things back but he insisted so I let him. When I go back tomorrow, I am dropping off an envelope for him with a thank you note and the money to pay him back. This was completely unexpected so I felt I wanted to acknowledge his thoughtfulness. Thank you.

Instead of saying hello or what can I get you he just stared with a flat, mean expression. I made my order and made sure I said please and thank you each time. I ordered 2 deli meats and one cheese. The last of my order I was looking down at the bread to grab something in front of the deli case. Because I wasn't watching his every move he actually screamed MA'AM! To get my attention. He was so loud everyone turned to look at what was going on. Then proceeded to talk about me to another customer. He was saying things like "these people don't know how to make eye contact" amongst many other things. What's even more ridiculous is that he was asked by another customer to smile. When he handed me the last of my order he made sure to glare at me in a very menacing way. I'm disgusted that this person has anything to do with customer service. Market Basket must be desperate to employ an abusive person like this.

First - my roommate and I visited Trader Joe's right after moving to Portsmouth. The cashier looked at our IDs since we were buying wine, and when she found out that we had just moved to the area, she gave us a reusable bag as a welcome gift. We were so touched by this welcome and really appreciated the gesture as we had just arrived and were starting to settle in. Second, and most recently, my partner and I were picking up a couple of items on a Sunday night. We went to get in the checkout line and then remembered that we needed to grab one more thing. Just then, the bagging attendant told us "I'll open another lane for you guys" to which we responded that we needed to grab another thing. He told us it was not a problem and he'd be ready when we got back, and returned to bagging. We went, got our item, and upon our return to the checkout line, the attendant immediately opened up another lane. Although this may seem small, I was so appreciative that the attendant not only wanted to improve our experience initially, but cared enough to keep an eye on us while we picked up another item and opened up another lane for us as soon as we returned. I felt that it truly went above and beyond and I wish I remembered his name to give him a shoutout. I would be remiss if I concluded this review with no mention of the Trader Joe's food. Their frozen meals are amazing and all of their food is so high quality; I've never had a product that disappointed.
