I still love this Hannaford location. I've been using the Hannaford To Go service recently due to its convenience & because I am still recovering from an operation where I cannot stand for too long. It's been a 5-star experience each time I use the service. I do wish the parking spots were on the other side of where they are now; it can be challenging to pull into a spot when it gets busy there. You have to be very careful when leaving & BOLO for people / other cars coming & going. I highly suggest not going at opening for the produce area; the associates are typically stocking at this time so there are a lot of empty spots & carts full of produce all around. It's tough to navigate with a cart & other people trying to get by, but it's not a big deal. The deli area tends to be fully stocked with pre-sliced cheese & meat. It's convenient to pick through & find the quantity you want. The average weight is 1 lb. which is perfect for me & my husband. The seafood counter is not always staffed but the associates in the meat dept. can help cover. Lester in the meat dept. is a wonderful employee that will not ignore anyone. He's prompt to ask if he can help you find anything. He will come out from behind the counter to assist you. read more

Placed an order for delivery as I did not have time to shop myself. The delivery window came and went. The store closed. I had to call to find out what was going on. Was told the order was cancelled. They did not even bother to tell me. I had to call myself. Do better, Hannafords. Shopping elsewhere from now on. Anything is better than the nonsense from this store. read more

Unfortunately, this Hannaford is closest to my home. The produce department is under par compared to other Hannaford's and the selection is way less than most other Hannaford's that I've ever been in. I asked the produce guy this morning if they had watermelon spears and I apologized for asking him. He went back looked came out and said it would be 20 minutes before they would be out because the person is on break that's in charge of that. I was thinking WTH! Again, the only reason I shop here is out of necessity. This would be my last choice of any Hannaford. read more

Impossible to get on line for a pick up or delivery. Contacted twice never heard anything. Awful customer service

Every year we come to New Durham to visit friends who have a camp on Merrymeeting Lake. She introduced us to Hannaford. So, today needing to pick up some groceries, my husband and I stopped in. We found the store to be very clean and well stocked. We were able to find everything we wanted. Everyone working there were so friendly and welcoming. Yes it's small but so convenient and clean. Everyone is super friendly and courteous. I prefer Market Basket for prices but have always preferred Hannafords for the atmosphere. Staff at the deli is always nice but I wish there was more variety at the wing bar. I realize it's based on demand though so I understand. Keep up the good work! read more

This is very specific to the PHARMACY. I moved into the area, basically, the week COVID hit and caused everything to change. I had always used Hannaford in the past for my Rx needs and always found them top notch. This pharmacy, since day 1, can't seem to get it together. I used to have auto-fill on my prescriptions, I got notifications via text, and if I left a message I always got a return call. THEY DO NOT DO ANY OF THIS. I have asked and been "signed up" a few times...but nothing changes. Almost always, I call in my prescription, go to pick it up at the "designated" time, and it is NOT there. I can't keep driving back and forth for them to decide when they are going to ACTUALLY fill a prescription, but they don't notify me, and they don't return calls. One example is that I had gotten an injury and needed a tetanus shot...they got the order alright, but when I tried to set up an appointment (which took over a week) I was advised it wasn't convenient to give me the vaccine that week. Move forward...I get a new prescription. They have had nothing but problems getting it in at each refill. This last week was my last straw. I ordered, went in, as usual it wasn't there yet. Told to come back the next day...went in the next day, they hadn't done the orders yet, come back later. I go in...I am told they do not have that prescription in stock. Mind you, I have now not been taking it for over a week...the usual protocol with this pharmacy apparently... I was told, ...well, you're the only one on it, so we don't keep it in stock and we have to order it... YOU DID ORDER IT, a week late, and it's not here???? Finally one of the people said, ...well, there is one other person who takes that, they must have gotten here first... WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? When I asked why this prescription was such a problem she started going on about a point system and once I have enough points they keep it in stock? I have no idea what she was taking about...but 2 weeks on this last refill? And that story? This is ridiculous. I generally only put in a complaint as a last resort...this is my last resort, and I am contacting the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager and posting this review on any media I need to. Once again, I had a negative experience with a cashier. I placed the eggs on the metal end of the conveyor until all groceries were out of the cart, (I did not want the eggs to break). After I placed some bagged groceries in my cart I moved the eggs onto the conveyor. While doing that the cashier assumed I was rearranging the groceries not yet scanned and she started speaking sharply about her system for arranging and scanning the groceries. I simply stated that I was just moving the eggs onto the conveyor. No apology from her....but we know what happens when one assumes... Some of the employees are rude! read more

This particular Hannaford location is the only one in this area. In fact it's the only store besides General Dollar in the general area. With that being said.. I normally would ignore a great deal, given the stores convenient location. I would have ignored the high prices on the majority of items. I would have ignored the fact that a store employee literally could not tell me where the seasoning was. I would have ignored the fact I stood at the deli for 35-40 minutes while two employees talked. While ignoring two other customers and myself. But what I just can't ignore is the disrespectful, dismissive and flat out ignorant way I witnessed an employee speaking to an elderly woman. She was slightly confused. Instead of being patient and helpful. The employee was dismissive, rude and at one point laughed straight in her face and said "when you figure out what you need to ask.. Let me know!!" I helped to woman find what she needed, paid for my items and left. I will never return! You don't treat people like this. Especially our elderly! read more

Even though I feel I never have enough stores at my fingertips at home, the entire Alton area REALLY lacks stores. And while it is an inconvenience, it's also sort of nice. Hannaford is the only large store to find a wide variety of groceries, including some organic items, and a wide variety of household cleaning products, and vitamins and health items. I also believe this store holds the only pharmacy throughout the small town of Alton. It sits on Wolfeboro Highway (Route 28), right by the large rotary dividing Route 28 and Route 11, with a large parking lot and a bank and restaurant in the small complex. While the prices are pretty good on most of the basic grocery items, other things can be sort of ridiculous, like batteries (which are way overpriced). The problem? Well, unless you feel like driving twenty minutes or more down the road to Walmart, it's the cheapest option! Staff are friendly and the self checkout is extremely convenient and fast. The best place for groceries in Alton, and the only superstore throughout the town. Even though Stop&Shop is the largest grocery chain in New England (and in my opinion, by far the BEST grocery chain), they currently have not one store in New Hampshire. Well, with the whole company buy-out thing going on, I'm assuming this will become a Stop&Shop soon enough, and will miss this store, but be happy a new store that I like (that has an overall better stock of everything....), will be moving in. Maybe things will be less expensive then.... 4 stars for Hannaford in Alton. read more

I would put NO stars if it was possible. Hannaford's needs some management. Lousey layout of the store. Deli workers should be trained on how to slice cold cuts as asked. I asked for cheese sliced thin and was never shown or asked if it was ok, she just kept talking to someone else and gave me cheese that was thicker than packaged cheese. I can't stand this store. Will make the trip to Rochester or Gilford for groceries!! Hannaford's needs to get their act together!!! read more

Hannaford has a great selection of produce, cheese, bread, flowers, prepared items and everything else you could possibly need. Sure it's smaller than some of the other Hannaford stores around, but so much bigger than the little markets. They have a pharmacy too and the people that work there are always nice. I usually end up chatting away with whoever is ringing up my groceries. I was so happy when I heard a Hannaford was coming to town even though I had already moved away to Cali. I was so over driving to the next town to go to a large grocery store when visiting my family or trying to find what I needed on the dusty shelves of the smaller markets in town. I'm pretty sure I'll be back on my next visit! read more

My boyfriend and I were at the self-scan service, and I realized I needed to cancel an item. I pressed the button and the light above the register started to blink. I waited for one of the cashiers to notice- as they were just standing there- but they were talking among themselves. Irritated, I asked my beau to run to my car to get spare change while I waited. He went off and after a while I called to one of the cashiers for assistance. She looked me up and down like I had no right to ask for help, then said "Oh, yeah I'll get the code card." She left, and I waited for another twenty minutes. Finally, a DIFFERENT woman saw me waiting there under the blinking light and helped me finish my purchase. I asked about the other cashier, and the old woman said something like this usually happens (No help from the younger folks). By the time the younger blonde girl came back, I was out the door. I saw her standing awkwardly while the older manager was talking to her. So, my experience revealed that the teens are rude and if you need any help to make yourself very obvious. read more

The pharmacy is the worst I've ever been too. They are rude and incompetent. I will go to any other pharmacy. There are too many pharmacies that appreciate your business and look to improve it by giving excellent customer service to let people treat you like it's beneath them to wait on you. read more

Always nice people, good selection of the items I need, and variety. The store seems to be clean and the few times I've had to use the pharmacy were also pleasant. The store is also involved in the local community. I was surprised to get an informational flier about a renovation for the Alton elementary school. A lot of corporate businesses don't support the community in that way. This makes Hannafords seem even more like a small town grocery store. read more
