I recently have used the Hannaford To Go service twice at this location & all went well! The associates are so friendly. I am sure they are working out the kinks as far as communicating when an order is complete or needs substitutions. Out of fairness, I do use Shaw's Pickup from time to time due to convenience & they have a slightly better 'edge' but Hannaford has allowed me to give some suggestions & feedback so that they can further improve their process. This location is on the newer side. It's always clean, decently mapped out & typically well staffed. I don't particularly like using the self checkout kiosks & the lines do move fast if you choose wisely. I always bring reusable bags & appreciate that the associates are mindful of the weight of the bag(s) & for the most part, pack them appropriately. Every once in a while I question why they mixed certain items that shouldn't be, but that's a minor issue. The seafood counter is great. Always stocked, wonderful variety. It's attractive & inviting. I also love their specialty cheese section. Though there's an overwhelming amount of products to choose from & might take a sec to find what you need, at least they have a little of everything. One thing Hannaford could step up with is foreign cuisine items & spices. I hate to name drop Market Basket, but they have a wider selection (I avoid this store if I can). I love Hannaford Rewards & shopping from the weekly flyer to make my list. Each store will tell you which aisle & location the items are which is so helpful. Hannaford is worth it!

First - my roommate and I visited Trader Joe's right after moving to Portsmouth. The cashier looked at our IDs since we were buying wine, and when she found out that we had just moved to the area, she gave us a reusable bag as a welcome gift. We were so touched by this welcome and really appreciated the gesture as we had just arrived and were starting to settle in. Second, and most recently, my partner and I were picking up a couple of items on a Sunday night. We went to get in the checkout line and then remembered that we needed to grab one more thing. Just then, the bagging attendant told us "I'll open another lane for you guys" to which we responded that we needed to grab another thing. He told us it was not a problem and he'd be ready when we got back, and returned to bagging. We went, got our item, and upon our return to the checkout line, the attendant immediately opened up another lane. Although this may seem small, I was so appreciative that the attendant not only wanted to improve our experience initially, but cared enough to keep an eye on us while we picked up another item and opened up another lane for us as soon as we returned. I felt that it truly went above and beyond and I wish I remembered his name to give him a shoutout. I would be remiss if I concluded this review with no mention of the Trader Joe's food. Their frozen meals are amazing and all of their food is so high quality; I've never had a product that disappointed.

We purchased their own Cryovacced beef and sausage, some fresh veggies, homemade baked goods, and some cider. The staff was AMAZINGLY friendly! As we were leaving, my children saw some very small broken Christmas tree twigs in the parking lot and wanted to take them home for the ride so they could smell the pine. Another young man called over to me and said he had a better piece for them than what we found on the ground and he gave them a large branch! It just made their day! Then, my daughter saw the horses and he invited us to go and look at them. It was such a gorgeous setting and we really enjoyed everything we purchased. The sausage is out of this world!!!
