I write this review as a method of feedback for Dr Horowitz. I have been a long time patient of yours and see you rather infrequently. I trust your expertise and place my confidence in you when I have a dermatological issue that needs attention, that will not change. This one star is not for you. This one star is for the blind spot that you have when it comes to entrusting your office staff as the gatekeepers of your needed care. I have been truly suffering with a persistent dermatological issue that has befuddled me for the last six weeks, after the third week of hoping it would resolve on its own and being held hostage by a painful rash to my face and my patience exhausted, I reached out to your office to try and get in and see you or any of your associates. I could not get a chance to explain what was happening to me to the person on the phone, but instead was met with a brick wall and the position that there was no one who could see me for the next two weeks at least. Desperate, I saw my PCP not once but twice, a week apart, placed on different medicines both times which did not resolve the issue, and ultimately could not get this painful, raw, angry rash under control enough to enjoy the plans made for my 25th wedding anniversary with my husband. Fast forward to seven weeks later. Yesterday I called your office again to see you or an associate, and was a given a next day appointment, today. Whomever I spoke with yesterday handled my request appropriately; she asked me a few questions and was sympathetic to my weeks of discomfort and attached at least some urgency to getting me in to the office asap. Today I have seen your stellar NP Kasey and truly thank her for attentive ear and the time she took to hear my play by play so she could get to the right diagnosis, which, by the way, was a completely different conclusion than my PCP had come to and that I had spent three+ weeks taking medicines for that I shouldn't have been taking for a diagnosis that was not correct. So, you see Dr Horowitz, your patient (me) has been miserable and suffering and calling in sick to work and missing her anniversary and has not slept through the night for the last six weeks because she has to slather vaseline all over her face every hour etc because your office either doesn't have the workflow and training for your staff that supports identifying and prioritizing patients that need to come in pronto vs those patients who can wait, or......you do have that workflow and process in place in your office but it is not hardwired, enforced, or expected. And that is a problem. This is not an attack on your excellent staff, your office seems very efficient indeed. But as the captain of that ship you need to know with all certainty that your patients are consistently being triaged over the phone to ascertain their level of need so you are not missing the opportunity to facilitate good health and comfort in those who seek your care. I hope this feedback is useful. read more
