Wednesday, July 29, 2026 2.5 stars This ophthalmologist office needs to exercise better patient privacy. They call you into a small room (in lobby area) and leave the door wide open so EVERYBODY in the lobby can also hear your conversation about what's going on with your eyes. We demanded that they close the door when it was our turn. Both my wife and I have been here before and same thing....they don't close the door. We would not have come back here, but Dr. Barrick was an urgent referral and we had no choice, but we do thank him for his accommodating us at the last minute. Dr. Barrick is a fine ophthalmologist. No problem with that. My 2.5 star review is based on his office always leaving the door wide open (as my review states above) and no concern that it's a patient privacy issue which it clearly is. read more

Dr Barak is extremely knowledgeable, he listened patiently to my mother's concerns and answered all of our questions. He definitely cares for his patients and doesn'tmake you feel rushed. The office decor is beautiful and the staff is friendly. You receive personalized care, clear explanations and a piece of mind. Doctor was late & staggered in & then rude as heck. No sense of humor what so ever. Didn't even know why I was there, He asked, Told him for an annual Diabetic eye exam, he seemed annoyed that it wasn't for new glasses. Only reason for 2 stars & not 1, was that the staff was really nice. read more

First off, I must say that my mother was the patient. My mother Maria and she was originally referred there by her primary care doctor, Dr.Deanda whom she fully trusts. We first met Dr.Barak prior to February of this year. My Mom has worn thick glasses for her the majority of her life and she couldn't see well at all without them. She was could hardly see out of her right eye and her left was as she called it her good eye. I never knew just how blind my mother was until I started going with her to these appointments! When I met the ladies at the front desk they were very cordial and organized with how they handled their waiting area and patients waiting. Overall, always very pleasant with my mom and myself and ensured all steps this process we explained and all parts of her care prior and after were taken care of. My mom's right eye cataract wasn't even able to be measured. Dr.Barak was very respectful and very informative and gave my mom the facts and the reality of possible outcomes as well as always making sure that she was given the best care and what her best options were. She had her first eye surgery on her right eye, and recommended the best of the best which included: The surgery center, the best lens, and of course the best ophthalmologist Dr.Barak. Pomona Valley outpatient surgery Center, the staff there absolutely put my mom and myself at ease with their care and professionalism. Her Cataract Removal and the placement of trifocal lens in right eye. Also, Dr.Barak's beside care was extremely compassionate and he completely put my mom at ease and made her smile prior to surgery when I know she will never admit how nervous she was until she saw Dr.Barak. She came out, and was the sent home with me to rest and recover. The first couple days were the hardest for her but Dr. Barak and his staff had prepared us well and encouraged a combination eyeydrop vs multiple drops and made her recovery so much more comfortable. They always accommodated follow up appointments. Her results were way better than anticipated!!! I mean ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!!! so naturally she did the the left eye in May and our experience was was equally amazing if not better and so wear the results she is still being followed by Dr.Barack and I so happy to report that my little blind mouse ... oops I mean mom sees great now with both eyes. She no longer wears glasses at all !!! On very rare occasions OTC readers that she doesn't even put on ! All because she had the BEST OF THE BEST!!!! We were referred by our Primary doctor and approved by our insurance and we had to convince the insurance company to see another Ophthalmologist and so glad we were approved with Dr. Barak who gave us a thorough evaluation and a prescription for eye ware. My husband was seen right away with the young lady helping my husband to order a pair of new glasses. Dr. Barak also gave us medical advice and potential cataract surgery and eye lids. I highly recommend Dr. Barak and his staff. The office was clean, easy parking and the office communicated when our appointment would be and when the doctor was ready for us. We even drove over 20 miles to see this doctor. read more

This is very lengthy, but I am Sooo passionate about this that I do not want anyone else to have this kind of bad experience. I would give Barack a minus one If I could.. I also plan on letting the medical board know how unethical and non caring Dr Mark Barack is. He was my doctor when his practice was on Foothill in Pomona Ca. I first met him in the 90's when he let me know that Doctor Mousa's Mono Vision was a wrong choice for me because Mousa took away my distant dominant eye and brought it so I could only read with it therefore I could not see for over three months until my brain accepted this change. Fast forwarding, now I need cataract surgery. I gave Barack my total trust. I now find out he also suggest PanOptic lens to EVERYONE who needs cataract surgery instead of giving us other choice of lens which would be according to each persons eye needs. If a person already has astigmatism/halos. PanOptics is NOT the lens to have. A muti focal lens should never be placed when astigmatism or halos are seen because it will creat more halos. So I walked into Pomona Valley Hospital nervous but totally trusting Barack. Two years later and my vision is WORSE than before surgery. I could not drive especially at night because of how blurry my vision is and still is. Before moving I went to Baracks office several times and waited for almost two hours before being seen just to get an arrogant, "sue me if you want" answer from him. He was willing to perform a corrective PRK which takes three to four months to heal and much pain involved.That's not a solution especially when I was moving out of state, which he was aware. Why would I trust him the second time when he left me with blurry vision and worse halos. than before the cataract surgery. Doctor Chuck from Pomona and Doctor Lee from City of Industry in Ca and two doctors in Arizona, Doctor Patrick Aiello and Doctor Nappi from Scottsdale have since confirmed what a horrible mess Barack left me in. I asked Barack to refund my $2,800.so that I can have it corrected with LASIK but Barack refused. His comment was, he will refund IF I give him back his PanOptic lens. WHY? So he can reuse it? How tacky and unethical. read more

We just took our dad to Dr. Barak for an eye exam. The first thing we see is a desk with a MOUNTAIN of unorganized papers overflowing. Our trust pretty much left then. He told us that my dad has an eye infection (which he does) and that antibiotics will be prescribed. He said that when his staff can get to it, the prescription will be filled. Still have not heard anything, and it is the next day. He also told us that my dad needs cataract surgery or that he was going to go blind. He gave us the choice of the "inferior " lens, which is free or the super upgraded lens, which was $3K per eye. My dad can read a magazine without glasses. He is 93. Needless to say, we are going somewhere else. It is my recommendation that people NOT go to this doctor. I think he is unsafe!!! read more

This doctor is rude and unprofessional. I had an appointment with this doctor on April 7, 2021 at 10:15 AM that was set two months earlier. I was there on time and waited. At almost 12:00 noon, they wanted me to reschedule the visit to another 2 months. 4 hours of my time was wasted without an apology and an excuse. They just take so many appointments that they can not handle. He does not care of your care. He just care for the money. I will not trust this kind of doctors. read more

I typically do not do reviews. The photo should speak for itself. I was truly shocked on my 2nd visit for a peripheral EYE EXAM where the assistant escorted me to a closed door, only to open it and be asked to enter into this for my exam!, I actually asked her "is this a storage closet"? Boxes, papers etc seemed 3ft high. I was placed up against a wall across from this pile of unknown. We being in middle of a pandemic (germs, virus, illness) What might live in papers & boxes? I would expect a Dr's office especially to be EXTRA clean! It took me over 2 months to find right insurance and Dr's in same Med group-only to now well to keep moving, another month well worth the change for my sake. Also, on a desk across from this "storage exam room" were stacks of unorganized files, more papers. I write only to share a pretty unnerving experience. While the doctor is very nice, the entire office is unorganized. When I bring my aunt to her appointments, we always wait over an hour to just be called. Often times numerous people are crammed into the waiting room looking for seats and everyone has extended waits times. Today I witnessed an elderly lady who had to miss her appt because her taxi came back and they still had not called her back. This type of office disorganization and poor management is not fair to their customers. The staff is nice, but there is an obvious clear lack of strong management. read more
