Ok, surgeons are truly hit or miss. Dr Costin was a true blessing after a string of less than…read morestellar docs have come my way lately. His office fit me in so quickly for a non life threatening situation. They actually could've fit me in the same day as my doctors referral which is amazing. Docs just don't do that unless you're dying. His staff was truly pleasant. Actually nice, not just fake nice. They smiled and had personalities. The wait time in the waiting room was extremely minimal as well as in the exam room. The Dr himself was very pleasant. Easy to talk to and able to answer every question I had for him. He was open and honest about the procedure he was recommending. I felt like he was knowledgeable of the condition I had and confident that surgery (with him) was the best course of treatment. After the exam was over, I met with his scheduling coordinator who was extremely efficient, pleasant and easy to work with. I'm glad I was referred to Dr Costin. While having surgery in the near future is scary, he's definitely put my mind at ease.

A year and two rounds of physical therapy later, she officially gave up on me. Yep, sent me on my way. Told me to try getting a massage. And then no less than a dozen doctors gave up on me. Through the years, I've seen chiropractors, a Chinese medicine DO, three gastroenterologists, a physical manipulation specialist, and a handful of Western medicine docs. I've been needled, herbed, cracked, and popped... I'm pretty sure I even went on a spiritual witch hunt for a while to exorcise a demon. I spent no less than $10,000 on scans, pills, and massages and countless hours in doctors' offices. And then I met Dr. Richard Costin. He had been referred by one of my caring doctors who just didn't know what to do with me anymore. He said Dr. Costin is the surgeon he'd choose for surgery on himself. Sounded good enough for me! If you've ever seen a surgeon, you probably know they're... well... not the nicest. You pray for one who's just a pompous, self-righteous ass and not one who's completely cold-hearted and unrelatable to people. Well, Dr. Costin was neither! Don't get me wrong... he wasn't shitting out rainbows and butterflies, but was truly great. He was kind, really listened to my concerns, and spent enough time with me at every visit. Dr. Costin told me he believed my problems stemmed from my gallbladder, even though all my tests came back saying otherwise. He said he had seen a few patients with symptoms like mine and that he thought removing my gallbladder would be the right thing. But he wouldn't go in blindly and remove it--he had many hoops for me to jump through before he would remove this pesky organ. A year after my first visit--and many tests and diet changes later--I went back to see Dr. Costin. He spent quite a bit of time discussing my case, and then he told me it was time to say goodbye to my gallbladder. His office helped schedule my surgery, and just a few days ago, I had my gallbladder removed. While it's too soon to claim complete victory, I can confidently say that things are looking good so far. I had such an amazing experience with Dr. Costin, and I am incredibly thankful to him for not giving up on me like everybody else did. He saved my life.

From the second I decided to inquire about a consultation to now, having experienced the process and worst recovery days, I am so extremely happy I went with my gut & had my surgery done here. I can't think of one bad thing to say & I think that speaks for itself. All of the staff and Dr Shah are amazing. Not only was it my first cosmetic surgery (BA) it was also my first real surgery as a whole. (Other than wisdom teeth). Everyone here has treated me w such kindness, are very caring and go above and beyond to make the experience relatively easy and as painless as possible. I never once second guessed my decision, only felt mild anxiety in the hours leading up to surgery and most of all, I never felt uncomfortable with any of the process. They offer additional convenience factors for contact, paperwork and payment, which I've greatly appreciated w my work schedule. While it will be a little while yet to see my fully healed results, I can already tell I love them. I had explored having the same surgery done a year prior elsewhere and never followed thru w it.. when I came here for my consult, I booked my surgery same day as a 30th bday present to myself. Although, I did feel that would be the case when I viewed their website gallery. I was impressed w Dr Shah's work & struggled to find any "after" pics that didn't look good. Thank you so much!!

Instead, he did a much larger, more invasive and destructive cut in a huge Z shape, severing a tendon and leaving me with a permanent deformation, a "Mallet" finger. This surgery was exponentially more painful that the previous surgery, leaving me with constant discomfort, often quite painful joints in that finger. When coming in office for stitches removal, he asserted that I "must have torn the tendon," which is absurd and insulting, given the extreme pain I was in post-surgery. I have limited mobility and general stiffness, despite months of physical therapy. I have difficulty typing, playing the piano, making wheel thrown pottery (my favorite hobby where I used to spend three days or more a week doing), and even the mundane activities of gardening. My grasp is compromised, my hand strength quite diminished. I sought out another hand and finger specialist to repair the damage from this surgery, and he has said I had at best a 50% chance of improvement or even staying the same, which would involve months of having a pin inserted and the subsequent PT. So I am left with a deformed, damaged, limited use of my finger, and hand. This surgery left me much worse than before surgery. I would strongly discourage using this surgeon, since it is a gamble. He did a perfect surgery 10 years ago, and a complete mess of the surgery he did last year.
