The Dr. was clearly annoyed that she did not want to have all "7" cavities identified, worked on right then (we scheduled two separate visits). She is fearful and since her experience here she never wants to go again. During the Novocaine phase she was stuck in the outside of her lower lip with the needle. I watched as the needle bent into a "U" shape and my daughter grabbed the hand of person administering to stop the needle before the hygienist realized what she was doing. When I discussed with the Dentist, I was told I was over reacting and maybe I should take my daughter to a pediatric dentist. Although my daughter was completely numb on the left side, because I voiced my displeasure with what had happened and asked that the Dentist finish what had been started, she refused to work on my daughter and sent us away.

They scheduled the 1 year old visit for just before his first birthday. I thought that was fine but…read moreapparently they can't do the 1 year shots until after his first birthday. Frustrating but oh well. So now we have to schedule another appointment in 2 weeks. Show up to that appointment as scheduled and the doctor isn't there to sign the order until an HOUR after the scheduled appointment time. So they said I could wait for an hour with my toddler and baby or I could leave. I'll never be back. How do you screw up scheduling 2 appointments in a row? Also when our main pediatrician was out of town we were scheduled with another doctor that was clearly not a pediatrician and told us to stop scheduling with her. I was like, this is were the front desk scheduled us. We don't want to see you either.... Often the nurses can't get the head circumference or just skipped measuring height altogether. We stuck it out for a year but that office is not a great place. We will never be back.

Currently, they are going through some renovations, so it is kind of a mess at the moment, but once finished, I think it's going to make this place really stellar. I generally meet with a Nurse Practitioner and she is very thorough and attentive to my concerns. The lab staff and quick and efficient and I've never had any issues! There is parking in the back, so don't worry about finding a spot on High St. Since it is so centrally located, students, you can just walk or take COTA. I definitely recommend this place. They really do take good care of their patients, and people who are more regular than I am, I could tell they remembered them and kept up on conversation about their lives. It's a nice feeling when going to the 'doc.

Went to the urgent care to see if this is a pinched nerve/slipped disce Of course before coming I was literally screaming in pain, so loud that the dogs became concerned and flanked me. Once at the urgent care all my muscels loosened up. I can see how they may not have understood my pain was past a ten five minutes before I checked in. Parking was easy. Big lot. Not a lot of people here Saturday evening. I got checked in. Waited maybe three minutes. Was taken to an exam room. Jerico took my vitals. Was pleasant but could noticeably tell he hated chit chat. Lol He excused himself and the wait for a provider began. While waiting I noticed this room smells weird. Gross weird. I dont even want to think about what it is but it smells like the trash needs emptied and the trash smells for lack of a more descriptive word. yucky. I think that conveys it. Kind of smells like a mixture of puke and disinfectant. Ew. See. Yuck. Doctor Haynes come is. Was relieved it wasn't another NP. Especially due to it being an upper back/neck injury. Thats mg big beef with this place the NPs. I explain some of my medical history. Explain the injury. She does an exam concluding its soft tissue causing the pain. And doesn't need an x-ray. I agree it doesn't need xrayed, but was wondering why she didnt lean to mri. Never did she mention it. Still holding fast to its an pulled muscle. I am 100000000000% sure it is more than that. So I ask for a referral to the spine clinic. She gives it to me I was sent home with lidocaine and muscle relaxer. I agree, those I needed. The entire visit took less than 30 from the time I sat down in the waiting room. The only thing I was surprised by there was no follow up call. Usually when you go to an ER in urgent care, especially with a neck injury staff follows up the next day That was not the case here no follow up was received.

Had what I considered to be a fairly good urgent care experience here this week when I had to take…read moremy daughter in for care. I felt like she received pretty good care from the nurse and nurse practitioner that we saw. We didn't have to wait too long, and they were quickly able to rule out a couple of things. They ended up calling in a prescription for an antibiotic for us, which is really what I believed was all we needed before we went in there. One thing did seem a little odd to me, however. Even though a nurse had told us "a doctor will be in to see you shortly," a doctor never did see my daughter - only a nurse practitioner came by. Based on a web search after the fact, I discovered that in Ohio, a doctor is apparently not required to actually work on site at a medical facility, just be in some kind of contract with and do annual reviews of a nurse practitioner. Or something like that. The nurse practitioner can write some prescriptions. So I'm left suspecting that there was not even a doctor on the premises that evening, which makes me wonder why the nurse said that one would come see my daughter. At any rate, I'll be interested to see our part of the bill when it comes, to see how their services are listed out. It crossed my mind that maybe this is the new way of trying to cut medical costs, but I have my suspicions that this was still a very pricey visit.

We then told them he's not in pain and he's not ready to lay down and die but Rather was there to try and get his appetite back. I could tell you story after story after story of this awful place but it would take me several pages. They do not sponge bathe you nor do they do any type of hygiene care you are on your own. They left our loved one lay in bed with his blue jeans on for four days until I changed him into sweats. Then after ten days told him he had to go home and die basically. My experience with the James is based on what my family went through with my late paternal…read moregrandmother's treatment for melanoma. Mama received chemotherapy and radiation treatment from 2001-2006 before the disease ultimately took her life. The James has made great advances in cancer research and treatment over the years. They do many experimental treatments in addition to the tried-and-true methods. I know that Mama participated in at least one experimental treatment. Everyone knows early detection is everything. No one caught Mama's cancer until it was too late, and she had a form of melanoma that was horribly aggressive and very difficult to treat, but the team of doctors overseeing her care did everything they could to try to cure it. They were busy, yet they took the time to talk to everyone whenever Mama went in for treatment. They were supportive. The only thing they did that no one in the family was happy about was in regards to Mama's medications. Prior to her diagnosis, Mama was reasonably healthy for her age. All the same, her GP did have her on a couple medications (I'm guessing for her heart and something else). Her doctors didn't check her current prescriptions when they ordered new medications for her, and there was a pretty horrific interaction that landed Mama in the hospital and convinced us that she was going to die right then and there. The floors where the rooms are never cease to make me uneasy and panicky, but they're clean and well maintained. (That's really all I can say without having an anxiety attack.) Downstairs in the lobby, though, it's not as sterile-feeling. There's a gorgeous salt water aquarium and some fairly comfortable seats. Waiting while a family member is in surgery or receiving treatment is never enjoyable. It's been proven by numerous studies that aquariums have a relaxing effect on people, and having that aquarium helps patients and their families relax and it helps lower their blood pressure. Wi-fi is available in the lobby. Elsewhere in the James, it's a huge no-no. I don't really know what effect laptops and personal cell phones have on the medical equipment, but given that those machines are super-sensitive, what might seem insignificant to the Average Joe could be profound where the staff and the patient are concerned. Take your cell phones and laptops to the designated cell phone use areas. Don't use them in the patient rooms. So, aside from the doctors not checking on Mama's medications, the James is a fantastic hospital and an even more amazing research facility. If they can one day find an absolute cure for cancer, it will be yet another notch in their belt. Four stars.
