Not only was it a truly smooth transition over it was a great choice! From the first time I called to make my appointment for a cleaning the receptionist was so polite in answering all my questions about insurance, etc. The hygienists here are all so nice and gentle. I am a big baby and as many people are very nervous about going to see the dentist for even a cleaning. But I was quickly put to rest and felt very confident I was getting top notch advice from Dr. Tessier and care from his staff. When I switched to this office I had a list of extensive dental issues I needed to address. He was very helpful in recommending specialists for me to see, and coordinating repairs through them and also his office. I appreciated his conservative approach to what needed to be done. My girls are 4 & 8 and have been going to her for about 3 yrs now. Dr Billings is at Hoyt Dental, a medium-sized dental office (all ages, not pediatric-specific) on Murrieta Hot Springs near Whitewater. (They are tucked way in the back corner - look for their big red apple logo.) The office itself is clean and well-decorated inside, so don't be put off by the fact that this shopping center is "transitional" with liquor store, bail bondsman, and a few other questionable-looking shops. It's not like it's dangerous or anything....just not typical neighbors you'd think of for a dentist. As for Dr Billings herself -- she is SO warm and comforting. Everything about her is just totally reassuring. She is caring and competent. The dental assistants are also very helpful and warm. She uses clear, simple language that kids can understand and is mindful of not scaring them, while at the same time never lying to them or being deceptive (e.g. she'd never say "this isn't going to hurt!" if it is going to hurt.) We had a dental emergency once and she returned my call at 10 p.m. on a Saturday night. She asked a bunch of questions and determined that it could wait until her regular hours on Tuesday (she sees patients on Tuesdays & Fridays.)

The doctor seemed a little rushed but she was sufficiently patient with my daughter to get the job done so I let it slide. About a week later it's time for our second appointment set for the afternoon. Things started OK up until the Novocain injection when my girl became upset and nervous but not crying. When it came time for the actual injection the tears started flowing with some whimpering but with patience on the dentist's part, I believe things would have been fine. The doctor got about half the injection in and then gave up and referred us to another doctor because our little girl was crying. The doctor seemed frustrated and short tempered. So in the end nothing was accomplished except maybe the beginnings of a phobia. Maybe if the appointment was set for the morning and not in the afternoon before a long weekend, when the doctor is fresh, things might have turned out better. I wonder if Doctor Billings is burnt out from working with young patients, especially those who are nervous and need a little more care. On a positive note the support staff at Hoyt Dental was friendly and helpful.

So sad that these days one can't find a dentist that has a professional staff/office to take care of of the office in general. I began visiting this office back in the mid-2000's. I left because I felt like I was being overcharged for standard services. I decided to give them a second chance early 2017 and WHAT A MISTAKE!!! Each visit, prior to receiving any service, I asked how much the treatment would cost and how much would be covered by my insurance. They would work up an estimate and we would agree upon a path forward. I settled my bill PRIOR to leaving the office each visit and understood my account to be in good standing. I received various treatments (a deep cleaning, filling, inlay) throughout the first few months of 2016 and again, felt my account was settled. About 6 months later, I received an UNEXPECTED bill of about $500. I reached out and explained that I didn't feel this was billed correctly and asked for additional details. I compared my the details of my bills to what was outlined on the responsible party history of services I received from Julie, the receptionist, and found numerous errors. I was charged for procedures that I didn't receive and the amount submitted for payment for almost every service far exceeded the acceptable insurance amount. I feel like this office has many VERY QUESTIONABLE billing practices and if you're hoping to go to a fair and honest dentist... STAY AWAY from this office. I grew frustrated dealing with the bills I kept receiving for the services I received (AND PAID FOR) months prior that I ended up just settling my account from the FSA money I had set aside for the birth of my unborn baby (I was pregnant throughout this fiasco). With my payment, I included a note saying that I planned to share my story with their practice on Yelp and Facebook. I then received the attached letter stating that if I came in for a consolidation, I would be refunded the money I was charged. I then took 1/2 day off work and made an appointment. During my visit, I received a sales pitch about why I should continue to have this office service my dental needs however I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY REIMBERSURMENT! When I asked what was meant by "AS AN ACT OF GOOD FAITH DURING THE VISIT HE WILL ALSO REFUND YOU THE $463.79 THAT WAS CHARGED TO YOUR CREDIT CARD", I received a blank state. There was NO intention of refunding my money and they had just wasted my time (and cost me a 1/2 day of work that I was saving for maternity leave). I had this letter with me during my last visit and when I asked about the refund, I was denied. This office LITERALLY lured me into their office (after taking time off work!) under the bait that they would refund my money HOWEVER didn't do ANYTHING. Talk about a bait and switch!!!! A COMPLETE AND UTTER WASTE OF MY TIME. STAY AWAY!!
