This review is long overdue...I've been going to Smile Moderne for about 3 years now and it is a fantastic practice. Dr. Chris is an excellent dentist and extremely gentle and knows what he's doing. He takes his time and does not rush his work like some other dentists that just rush rush rush so they can see more patients - Dr. Chris does quality work and it shows. Some of the fillings he put on the outside of my teeth, I can't even tell which tooth he worked on because the filling he put looks just the same as my tooth! Dr. Chris goes over and above as well - I've emailed him outside of my office visit asking him questions and he responds to my email with thorough details and has even called me to discuss if it is too much to write in an email. Dr. Chris' wife, Serena, is the office manager, and she is very kind and personable and always flexible and willing to help out as much as possible. She follows up with appointments well and runs the office and keeps it clean - the office and practice is VERY clean and I always feel comfortable during any visit. Recently, my dental insurance through work became "Out-of-Network" with Smile Moderne, but I chose to stay with them even if I have to pay a little more because I know the quality and work will be top notch!! My husband and I have been going to Dr Chris for over 4 years now and so happy we found him. His wife Serena is so friendly and easy to schedule with. It's just his office so no long waits or other patients in the office. When I told Dr Chris that I had a terrible, scarring experience with fillings at another office (that led me to find him) he took extra care to make my experience getting the additional fillings I needed much more comfortable and I was much more confident in his work and that he was being honest with me. Finding a new dentist is stressful, especially when you've had bad experiences with so many (PTSD from my HMO days when a dentist was forced upon you). Smile Moderne is, by far, the best dental practice I've ever across. Dr. Chris and Serena immediately make you feel at home and you can feel their sincerity during each visit. To make things even better, they're huge food and Disney fans, so they are fun to enthuse with. Whenever you move, finding new everything can be so stressful and overwhelming and can feel like you are shooting in the dark. I got extremely lucky that I found Dr. Chris and Smile Moderne on Instagram through a Disney profile I followed. I mean what's cooler than a Disney dentist? *NOTHING* I contacted them through Instagram and I was so relived when they responded because they were so nice and genuine and excited that I was even interested in becoming a patient. When I arrived for my first appointment, they were all so welcoming and sincere in wanting to get to know me (and my teeth of course). Since my first visit, I have been lucky to have multiple visit that continue to prove that I made the right decision by becoming a patient. I've always loved going to the dentist but Smile Moderne as taken it to the next level. Again, Dr. Chris is a great dentist full of wisdom about dental care. Serena has been the best with helping me understand my insurance, scheduling (even last minute squeezing me in). I had my first appointment at Smile Moderne today and it definitely won't be my last! Dr. Chris and Serena are an awesome husband and wife team who are easy to talk to and their office is super clean and modern. They offer water, sparkling water, and juice while you wait, which is just one of the little things I noticed that make their office a step above many others I have been to in the past. I just needed a regular cleaning and Dr. Chris did an amazing job while giving me insight into what he was doing and teaching me about the process. You also have the option to watch anything on Netflix or Disney + while in the room. He went over my x-rays with me on the screen in front of the chair which was super interesting to see and I hadn't had a dentist do that before. I'm so glad I found Smile Moderne! It's perfect for me, I was so nervous b/c I haven't been to the dentist since high school and finally got my own dental insurance this year. 1000% recommend! Serena is the warmest, friendliest, most patient soul I have ever met in a dentists/doctors office I love how they walked me through a breakdown of what to expect for my first visit, what will be covered under my insurance, time estimates, already preparing for my next 6 month cleaning, etc. Being able to go through their new patient forms and costs before the actual appointment date was chefs kiss, I love it. I get so worked up and anxious over being prepared for stuff and being able to have everything beforehand helped so much. We chatted about movies and she was so sweet, it was so reassuring. Dr. Chris is wonderful too! Any questions, whether about my own teeth or dental hygiene in general, were given equal consideration. I really appreciate his attention to detail and how he too was willing to walk through each step, ask for my opinion, and make sure I was comfortable the whole time. I am so relieved that there was no dental shaming at all! I remember going to the dentist before as a teen and them making little quips like "could been flossing a bit more, but well, ate least you're here now" or "why don't you get whitening, your smile could be less yellow" or "oh that poor tooth". I was preparing myself for stuff like that or a $1000 bill, but it couldn't have gone smoother! Having the option of watching shows on the screen while they clean your teeth was super nice too, I always run around in my mind "where should I look? What if I make eye contact? Is closing my eyes rude? Is avoiding eye contact more rude?" And then having separate baskets for any purses or bags and your mask is so considerate. After having not visited the dentist in years, I started shopping around the South Orange County area for someone local we could go to. I went to All Smiles in Laguna Niguel and Walnut Dental in Irvine before finding Dr. Chris and Serena at Smile Moderne, and I couldn't be more excited! Originally I had scheduled my appointment online, but after communicating with Serena via text, and requesting an earlier appointment she was able to reschedule my cleaning within approximately a week of my request. Not only was the communication prompt and positive, it was also helpful in that Serena was able to reach out to my previous dentists for my records, and confirm through my insurance information that I was covered - absolutely amazing! I was actually looking forward to my appointment, and I must say that the in-person experience did not disappoint!!
