We were disappointed at the time but we found many other restaurants that had good seafood as well. We were traveling with other family members this time and thought this restaurant would be the best places to try pretty much every seafood dishes available in Lisbon and some of the unique foods that we can't get at home. We had barnacles, glass shrimp (it is supposed to have eggs outside the shell but unfortunately we were told the season was over so there were no eggs), spider crab, oysters with caviar, scallops, razor clams, and cheese with bread. My daughter's boyfriend tasted the barnacles for the first time and he loved it. We ended up ordering it twice. Everything was delicious. Everyone enjoyed the food. Excellent service.

We also wanted an authentic Portuguese place and not anything touristy. Be careful what you wish for! We took a number but were almost bypassed as they were calling higher numbers. I got the "matre d's" attention and showed him my number. He spoke no English as could be expected - not an issue! So, he bumped us up to the front of the line. We climbed a long narrow and steep staircase to reach a long narrow hallway with about 20 staff running about and squeezing by each other. Somehow, we found the dining room and our waiter greeted us offering us a choice of tables. Clientele were very well dressed and spoke in Portuguese looking very comfortable. He immediately brought us a huge basket of garlic bread! It was quite a nice atmosphere and reminiscent of an older home with high ceilings. We had trouble ordering from the phone app (as it should be because it was in Portuguese only) so our waiter guided us. No IPA and no wine except moscatel. But this was a cerveseria with no IPA! So we tried two glasses of moscatel- not our favorite as it was much too sweet. We agreed to the garlic shrimp and lazy crab. I asked what it came with and he said nothing and pointed to the garlic bread. I asked about ordering veggies and he said there were none! The crab was fridge cold but would have been better warm. The shrimp could have been tasty if not so salty. It wouldn't have been such a culture shock but it was also very pricey for what is was. I don't regret this experience as I was immersed in Portuguese culture and food. But no veggies is unthinkable! lol

Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

We had 1.5 hours to get something to eat before getting picked up by our tour bus. So time was of…read morethe essence. We first went to O Pescador on the recommendation of our tour guide. But I guess everyone got that memo too, because there were several people waiting ahead of us. So looking next door was Mariscaria. After looking over their menu we decided to eat there. Obviously a lot of seafood. Emenu though isnt as extensive as most places in America. Customer service is OK. I do love how tip/gratuity is not automatically included in the price of the meal here in Lisbon (take notes America). Took a long time for our food, even our appetizer, to come out. By then the wines were already room temp. But all was forgiven when the food came out. Im a firm believer that its better to do a few things really well, then to have a lot but do them mediocre. The food here was amazing!! So fresh. You can taste their natural flavors. We ordered their octopus salad. Nothing like what you see in America. Small amount of greens only. The octopus was the star as it should be. Not chewy. Flavored well. It was really good. Truly an appetizer. For entree we got their mixed seafood platter that serves 2. Its 65 euro, but the quality was amazing. And the portion was really good too. My wife left full and happy. There were several different seafoods on the plate. There was sea bass, tuna steak, squid, salmon and some fingerling potatoes. Added some lemon juice on them and they were amazing!! Each cooked to perfection. Flavors were all different. Textures. Cooking methods. All different. All very good!! Potatoes were the perfect starch to go with it. We had their vinho verde (a thing in Lisbon, never heard of it before), which wasent actually green. Had a subtle green tinge to it. But it was just dry. Not very good. I also had their red sangria. It was really good. Sweet. Fruity. They wvwn left the fruit in there for me to eat. After a liter pitcher of that, I was feeling good!! Ambiance hwre is beautiful. Nice shade covering to protect you from the sun. I really enjoyed the outdoor seating. Smoking in restaurants is something new to me. Its disgusting to me, in my personal opinion, but its not the restaurants fault. Overall though. The food was really good. Simple yet complex. Beautifully balanced. Tasted amazing. Took a little of time for the food to come out, but this place is worth the wait.

A surprisingly good restaurant for such a touristy location!…read more We stopped there because it was one of the best-looking spots near the popular Carcavelos beach, about mid-afternoon. Given how touristy the location is, we didn't have the greatest expectation, but we were pleasantly surprised. First of all, the service was impeccable. While not native speakers, when it came to food and service servers could speak and understand a great English and were very helpful when it came to helping out with the choice of drinks and food. The passionfruit sangria is the signature of the location and came in absolutely ginormous glasses, when ordered on a by-glass fashion (while still being reasonably priced). Not only was it refreshing, it was also surprisingly delicious for such a spot. For starters, we both went with gazpacho soup. While not authentic, it felt right for the weather and how we felt. Once again, it was extremely tasty and looked great! For the main dish, I took a whole-roasted fish (sea bass I believe) and once again, I was amazing. It was tender, it was well-seasoned, it was fresh, it was delicious and it came with a great seasoned olive sauce and baking potatoes. A really great example of the amazing seafood one can find in Portugal! My partner however was not as lucky. The crevettes skewer was lackluster and lacked any sauce or seasoning, while the crevettes were overcooked and rolled in flour prior to cooking, giving them a specific and not a very pleasant texture. Now, the desert - I went with a chocolate mousse - kept the whole trend of the culinary excellence going and was both chocolaty and delicious to the maximum. Overall, a great location, and if you are in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit!
