    CALIFORNIA ROLL
    Alyssa B.

Came here on a Wednesday evening around 6pm for dine-in service, and we were the first ones in for dinner it seemed. Service was fine, although it would have been nice if they disclosed beforehand that they were ONLY accepting cash payments that day. My boyfriend had to run out to find an ATM. The food was lackluster. I had ordered a California roll based on another person's recommendation - and while you might think "that's what you get for ordering sushi at a Mexican restaurant" - I can't say in any shape or form that it was reflective of a California roll. It had no description on the menu beyond the word "California roll", so I was not expecting the overly sauced, deep fried cream cheese stuffed monstrosity that was delivered. I had 3 or 4 pieces and had to call it quits. My boyfriend had ordered a shrimp and beef dish plate. He said the shrimp was ok, the beef was overdone and chewy, and the beans were weirdly congealed. For $61 for our meal, this place was not worth it. We both agreed the best aspect of the place was the chips. Overall, strike out experience for us. Would not recommend.

Like always this place does not let me down. Tried some of the same things and couple different plates. The seasoning is amazing on everyrhing. They have something for every one!! A must try!!

First time coming here a couple of weeks ago. I love how there's plenty of seating inside and plenty of TVs around the restaurant. We went on a Sunday and they had football playing. We ordered from their breakfast menu and got menudo, pozole and caldo en birria. All of these were super flavorful, definitely authentic!! The server was super sweet and everything came out in a timely manner.

Came here because I was in the mood for delicious and authentic tacos. I saw online a few dishes that people loved. I ended up getting the surf and turf taco, which isn't on the menu, but you can definitely order it. They were FANTASTIC. I ordered 2 and I should have ordered 3 because they were so delicious. One I got with carne asada and the shrimp and the other with chorizo and shrimp. The guacamole on top was delicious as well. I only deducted a star because I also got rice and beans and they could have been a bit more flavorful, they were bland. But I WILL be back for those tacos next week!

I'm always looking for new places to have mariscos and this place did not disappoint. I do gotta say it's a a bit expensive than other places I've been, but honestly it was worth it. The shrimp empanadas were spot on, the sushi roll was humongous, the molcajete was beautifully presented and it looked and tasted just as good. I can't forget about those micheladas they were made just right to satisfy that craving I had, specially with the shrimp. Service was great very attentive, for some reason my Apple Pay didn't go through, but they were nice enough to let me Zelle them. Not the best ambiance, but if you like karaoke they got that going on in the evenings.

Today was our second time and was horrible! Never coming back, We order burgers, chicken nuggets and shrimp plates, well the burgers And one shrimp plate never made it , other guest got their food first when we were already waiting for over an hour, the kids tacos tortillas were super dry! They were not able to eat them. No management to keep the flow running smooth zero reviews!!

So good I forgot to take a picture amazing!!!

Service is amazing! Food is fantastic. 1st customers and we will return! The shrimp ceviche was very fresh! I don't like micheladas but their in-house mix is fire! All around delicious we also order the mix molcajeta and owner recommended a sushi roll was also very delicious.

Lots of tasty authentic Mexican seafood dishes here! They also serve Mexican sushi which was a unique find! The freshness of the dishes here can be tasted through each bite of seafood. My party and I loved their shrimp empanadas. Cheesy, savory, and super delicious outer shell. The Molcajete Mixto was the most memorable item we tried. Served piping hot and with a side of tortillas, beans, and rice, it made for the perfect shareable dish. All the meats in the dish were cooked and charred perfectly and the cheesy salsa in the middle added delicious flavor! It was also my first time trying Agua Chile; it reminds me a lot of ceviche. The seafood used was shrimp, which bursted with spicy-limey flavor. So juicy! Be careful with the aguachile rojo because the spice lingers for awhile. They also serve non-alcoholic micheladas; great for those who like beer & tomato juice. I was more of a fan of the shrimps that it came with. It was basically empty on a weekday at around 8PM, but I came by on a weekend once and it was completely packed. There's TV blasting in the background along with some music. Could be a great lively spot to watch the game + do karaoke with friends. Lovely service!

Like most, you've probably seen the Mexican Sushi on Instagram! Lots of foodies have reviewed this place on their reels and I'm always wary of that but it looked intriguing enough so decided to give it a try. I ordered the Sushi Alambre and Mar Y Tierra (Surf & Turf) Taco. The sushi itself was definitely Instagram worthy, looks amazing and was GOOD but the bite became way too rich after a couple rolls. It basically was a deep fried rice roll (with some shrimp) with carne asada on top with two types of sauces. It's definitely worth a try, and I'd recommend that you get it to share as an appetizer! The Mar Y Tierra Taco isn't on the menu but it features a generously sized tortilla with melted cheese, shrimp, carne asada, and generous serving of avocado. This taco was really flavorful...I enjoyed it more than the sushi. If you forget the name, just call it the "Instagram Taco" and they'll know...it's featured on their reels alot. Other notes - complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch...this was very delicious! No liquor license, so they don't serve alcohol yet but it sounded like they will in the future. Service was great, no complaints there. Very limited parking in the lot, but you can find street parking if spaces aren't available. Overall, I'll give it a very solid 4. I enjoyed the food and ambiance enough and if I'm in the area, I would definitely consider eating there again. Not as mind blowing as I thought it would be, the sushi was definitely hyped up quite a bit by foodies on IG, but hey isn't that their job?! I'll be back when they serve beer!

    CAMARONES A LA DIABLA

Came here last night because i was craving some Mexican seafood. Wow this place did not disappoint! the food was absolutely bombbbb. We ordered the camarones a la diabla, tostada shrimp ceviche, aguachile verde, the sushi alambre, and the camarones rancheros. Everything was so flavorful, every single dish was a hit. Our server was very nice and all the workers are attentive. The food did take longer to come out (i just tell myself it's because they're making it from scratch). The ambiance isn't anything special, pretty typical of a typical Mexican restaurant. Our total came out to be around $120 with tip which is decent for seafood. I would 10/10 come back. Also we saw a couple tables order the molcajete, which also looked very tasty. The only about this place is that they dont sell alcohol. 5 star if the food came out faster

    EMPANADAS DE CAMARON
    Seana C.

The food here was absolutely divine! The empanadas and the Molcajete are a must order. The owner is extremely kind and welcoming and I overall had a great time. I tried the majority of their Mexican sushi rolls and it was different from anything I have had before. There were many TVs in the area and I would recommend going here for any sports games. They also had a karaoke station which would be fun for weekend nights. Checkout this authentic Mexican place in San Jose! Highlights: EMPANADAS DE CAMARON 4/5 Crispy on the inside with a great cheese pull. Loved the sauce it came with as well! Great choice for an appetizer or side. MOLCAJETE MIXTO 5/5 The sauce on the inside was great and also featured a nice cheese pull. The fish and meat that adorned the sides were high quality and tasty. It was absolutely delicious and tasted great in a tortilla with beans, rice, and sauce provided. Could feed 2 people!

    Agua mineral preparada?

Sushi was plain, no taste whatsoever. Don't fall for the looks, the flavor is not there. The agua mineral preparada for $9 youd expect it to have a hint of citrus but it just really is a sparkling water in a glass. The quesabirrias are mid I was better of going across the street for that. Also expect to pay a fee for paying w card. Yet the audacity of the staff to ask me to tip them cash while I paid at the counter. I understand it's not the servers fault the food isn't good. Maybe a reduction of plates from the menu would improve overall experience here so they could focus on taste because it sure was missing today.

Lots of take out orders and dine in orders. I ordered 5 super tacos to share with different meats (pollo, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas and chorizo). The super tacos come with cilantro, onions, avocado, sour cream, cheese and pico de gallo. All the tacos come with homemade corn tortillas - you could tell they were fresh. The tacos are big, not small at all. The carne asada, carnitas and pollo was my favorite. Al pastor was good as well, chorizo was not that flavorful for me. However, they also have 3 types of salsas (green, red and a creamy orange) you can use to help add some more flavor if needed. The tacos were good and the tortilla they used was quite thick. The enchiladas had good flavor as well, and I would be interested in trying their enchilada with the verde sauce next time. Their prices have steadily risen over time and they have updated their menu prices as well. One thing that elevated this restaurant to 4 stars is their sauce! The red sauce and green sauce recipe is definitely unique compared to other taquerias. The red sauce bottle helps with the flavor tremendously and without it I would have rated this place lower.

We were seated at the booth in the back, which I have always admired, but I now realize it has its disadvantages. It is right by the bathroom, which got a bit of traffic on our visit. That's not such a big deal. The bigger concerns I have are: (1) there is no cushioning for those of us with little of our own and (2) you have to sit up fairly straight and if you want to lean against the wall, you're likely to rub shoulders with the wall hanging. Next time I will ask to be seated someplace else as there were two 2-tops outside. The food is always made from quality ingredients and I'm glad to see they are experimenting with pricing and quantity. I did not see mention of their daily happy hour, which was a feature of last year's visit so that may be gone. However, they now have a five tacos platter which offers relatively good value from the menu prices. This would be good for sharing for two people I think. But that is not what we ordered on this visit. My wife ordered two vegetarian (verduras) tacos and the Blood Orange/Jalapeno mocktail. I ordered the huevos rancheros. Unlike Luna, tortilla chips and salsa are not complimentary. So we let our appetites build. Our food arrived fairly quickly, so that was good and we dug in. My wife had ordered two extra eggs (extra charge) to accompany her tacos, and I think she was glad she did. The vegetarian tacos were not terribly generous for the price. My huevos rancheros came in a neatly stacked pile. My wife thought to ask if they had a hot sauce and they do! So we requested their hottest version. It was a welcome addition to the meal (gratis). A little vinegary, but plenty of heat. The mocktail was quite good. Like Spindrift and some other sparkling waters, it is not sweetened, but it had a good amount of strained blood orange juice, and you could taste the fresh jalapeño. I wonder if they have tried adding mint to this as I think it would be welcome. Maybe next time I will ask if they can experiment with me by adding some mint.

Service was not good at all. We had to wait over 15 minutes to get our order taken and then we watched our food stand on the counter top for another 5 minutes. Once we were served we were never checked up on until the end when we had to flag them down to get the check. I don't think we'll be coming back.

This made it so seamless to reserve here. Our group got there at opening and our table was ready and most of the group was already seated when we got there. Drink orders were flowing as the waitress caught up to me and I got a cafe de olla. We browsed the menu and the more I looked the harder it was to pick one thing. I ended up choosing chilaquiles with a bandera sauce and carne asada as the added protein. The rest of the table got all different types of dishes from carne en su jugo to birria to omelettes. While we enjoyed each other's company sipping on our cafecito I enjoyed the ambiance of the space. Nicely decorated for the holidays. Since it was opening time it wasn't as loud as I imagine it can get in there. The sun did shine on the faces of those facing the windows which was not enjoyable for them. There was no way to cover the sun either since it was coming in from the top windows with no shade. My food came out along with the rest of the plates and we went right in to enjoy them. My favorite chilaquiles was covered in the white sauce. The red and green were good but the white sauce was my favorite. The carne was cooked well but I could taste it wasn't marinated or lacked flavor. I didn't get a knife to cut the meat so it was very difficult to enjoy a piece with my chilaquiles. It was hard to cut with a butter knife. I thought it would be a piece of steak but it was a piece of carne asada. Eggs were scrambled and cooked well. The whole plate was filling, had flavor, and was a good portion. The cafe de olla had a good flavor but a tad sweet for my preference. The space in here is a vibe. A fun place to enjoy large gatherings. I came for breakfast but will update when I come back to visit for dinner. Bathrooms are clean. Staff was welcoming and efficient in taking care of our group. Hospitality was a 10/10. Parking in the am was a breeze but at prime time I can see it being a complete nightmare so plan accordingly. I enjoyed my visit and will come back to check out the dinner menu.

As we cruised by looking for parking, it was clear we had picked a lively spot--buzzing energy everywhere: inside, outside, and even upstairs. We were quickly seated indoors, though on such a beautiful day we assumed we'd be offered outdoor seating. No big deal--we asked, and they happily moved us to a shaded table with plenty of space. Much better. Drinks were first on the agenda: margaritas and a michelada, all refreshing and exactly what we were hoping for. Our server, Michelle, was friendly, attentive, and even shared some helpful tips about perks with our American Express Platinum Card--a nice, unexpected touch. We kicked things off with queso fundido, though a brief mix-up brought us chips and guacamole from another table first. Once we pointed it out, it was quickly handled--but honestly, it looked so good we ended up ordering it anyway. No regrets there--it definitely hit the spot. We hadn't planned on a full dinner, so we went with lighter bites. The tuna tostadas and halibut ceviche were a hit--fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. I went with the tortilla soup, which was good and nicely presented... but didn't quite wow me. I've been on a bit of a tortilla soup tour lately, and this one leaned a little heavy on the tortillas (soaking up too much broth) and had more zucchini than I expected. That said, major points for serving it piping hot--something a lot of places miss--and the avocado was a great addition. One thing worth noting: I didn't catch it until later, but there's a 4% living wage surcharge added to the bill--and it's taxed. That caught me off guard, and I'm still not entirely sure how that works in California. Overall, a fun, energetic spot with great drinks, tasty bites, and solid service. Not perfect, but definitely good enough to come back for another round.

I'm still thinking about the carnitas weeks later. We got the size recommended for 2 people and it did cost about $115 (including tax &tip). Our waitress was so polite and attentive. She made sure to ask if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions. The atmosphere is lively and inviting. I would love to come again and sit inside the restaurant, but the patio was perfect.

I finally made it to LUNA on the Alameda for lunch today. I've been to the Pruneyard location…read moreseveral times, but have wanted to try this one for a while. It was busy at noon on a Saturday, but fortunately they have a large tented outdoor dining area, in addition to the regular indoor restaurant, to accommodate everyone. I was almost immediately seated and given water and chips and two types of salsa. Both were too spicy for me, but the chips tasted good. I ordered the steak salad, which is what I've had every time I've dined at the Pruneyard location. It was very good, although the steak portion was teeny tiny. That was disappointing. But the greens were fresh and delicious and I loved the fresh avocado and roasted corn on top. Even the salad dressing was perfection. A few random notes: My waiter was running around like crazy trying to help all of the diners at his tables, but still came by and checked on me a couple times. The restaurant is LOUD despite being outside. They allow dogs on leashes outside. The dedicated parking lot is small, but I was able to find a spot. I didn't notice much of a difference between the two locations other than the small size of the steak at the Alameda restaurant. I would go back to either location.

There is a QR code (see photo) Cali-taco: it's a good size, fries are crispy. We recommend this one. Would get it again. Quesabirria: 2.5/5 - it was just ok. Wasn't as flavorful as I've had before Super burrito: 3.9/5 - it's a hefty size. Very filling. I had to eat half otherwise I'd go into full nap mode after. I'd recommend it for any burrito lover and someone who can eat a lot.

Probably my 10th visit, and this time it was absolutely incredible…read more I always ordere "The Double Meat Carne Asada" Burrito, 8 times out of 10 it has been delicious, but Saturday was Top Notch, OMG. The meat was perfectly cooked, moist and No Chunks of fat at all, and there was plenty of meat as well, mixed with a perfect bit of rice & beans, cheese, a tiny bit of avocado (I always have extra at home for this + sour cream) and the dough is pleasantly thin. I throw this in a counter top oven, and while heating, the dough becomes wonderfully crisp... Ohlala. The restaurant itself is clean, inviting, big windows all around, an impressive bar, and several TV screens that however, makes it on the noisy side. Always a lot of families there, seeming to enjoy all different kinds of wonderful dishes. I got two meals out of this heavenly Burrito, and I will definitely recommend this place.
