A New Favorite Local Gem: Exceptional Service, Scratch Kitchen Magic…read more We visited Shepherd & Sims for the first time yesterday for happy hour, and it exceeded our expectations from the moment we walked in. The host greeted us warmly, and that friendly, upbeat energy carried through the entire team. The space itself is gorgeous, featuring spacious indoor and patio seating, as well as an incredible full-bar display complete with a rolling library ladder. Our server, Kai, provided top-tier service. He gave us a wonderful breakdown of the menu, highlighting how the executive chef crafts everything in-house--from the blue corn tortillas and slider buns to the potato chips and onion dip. My husband had the ahi tuna tostada and a selection of daily oysters, both of which he absolutely devoured. I ordered the "Only Burger" slider, and after a little push from my husband and Kai (who accurately described the "awesome sauce" as an upgraded In-N-Out spread), I kept the sauce on--and I'm so glad I did! The slider was flawless in both size and flavor. Paired with those ultra-crispy, perfectly salted homemade chips and dip, we left completely satisfied. We will without a doubt be returning again and again--and bringing friends next time!

This is one of our favorite spots for happy hour. We came here again last Friday around 4:50pm and…read morethey were quite busy. We usually sat in their lovely covered outdoor patio, but this time we decided to sit at one of the high tables in the bar area inside. Their modern and upscale interior looked very welcoming. Service was friendly. Instead of my usual Sip n' Slurp Combo, I decided to try their Taco 'Bout a Lady Combo. It came with a glass of sauvignon blanc and a beer battered fish taco with cabbage slaw, avocado tomatillo salsa, creama and cilantro on top. The fish was piping hot and its size was decent. Every bite was delish. My husband enjoyed his go-to Combo: One-Hitter Quitter, which included a smash burger, a shot of whiskey and a beer. He added fried as well. I had some of his fries, and they're hot, crispy on the outside and well-seasoned. We also shared an order of Mushroom Cigars, which had 3 "cigars" with different types of mushrooms wrapped in phyllo dough and a side of sundried tomato tappenade. We liked this dish a lot as we both loved mushrooms. Another delicious and satisfying meal without breaking the bank. Until next time!

A Hidden Gem in the Hills: Sips, Sights, and a Whole Lot of Fun at Los Gatos Soda Works…read more We had been wanting to dine at Los Gatos Soda Works for a long time--always in town, but never venturing far enough to remember it was tucked away in the hills. We finally made it, and we were so glad we tried it! My husband and I stopped in for a date night featuring appetizers and drinks, and what a fun restaurant it turned out to be. The service was superb, and both the drinks and appetizers were tasty, fun, and beautifully designed. We enjoyed one of our classic favorites when we dine out: heirloom tomatoes and burrata. It certainly did not disappoint. We also tried the Kobe Steak Tartare, which was a first for us anywhere. Since I wasn't drinking that evening, I chose a zero-proof option called Serendipity, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. My husband explored the cocktail menu with the Kentucky Buck, Second Wind, Man and His Mule, and Picture Perfect--which was brilliantly served in glassware that looked like a camera lens! He thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them. Every drink was meticulously created with a fun, imaginative theme, including one playful cocktail served in a mini bathtub complete with a rubber duck in it (though I can't recall the exact name). It's definitely one I'll have to try on our next visit!

AMAZING food, we were absolutely spoiled by the fabulous cuisine and excellent service. We enjoyed arugula salads with grape tomatoes and salmon with vegetables. Every food item was perfectly prepared, tasty and utterly delicious. We followed dinner with a spumoni bombe - covered with chocolate. Heartily recommended for food and ambiiance.

Once the food arrived there was no follow up. We had to flag another server down for some condiments I really wanted to like this restaurant because the outdoor seating is inviting However I was sad that my out of town guest ate little and refused a take home container my pesto and salmon pasta was too heavy on the dairy and the salmon was not fresh it had that stale salmon strong taste., which I decided to bring home for my pet. I had a Sicilian coworker who was passionate about Sicilian food. Unfortunately the food here lacked passion. It failed to deliver for us. I would not bring out of town guests here unless you've had a previous experience with the food on par with the higher reviews. I'm sorry that I had to rate this as such.
