Villa Marina - Marinated Grilled Octopus

Villa Marina, has been on my Tijuana radar and I finally was able to make it happen. The magnet to…read moreget here, was that I recently discovered they were the only restaurant that was advertising Puerto Nuevo lobster. So I got there on my first evening, and that's what I ordered. It took about 40 minutes to get to the table, but once it arrived, it was beautifully presented cooked optimally. The portion seemed a little smaller than I expected (came in only one 600 gm size). The lobster that was split in half sat on a moist bed of Spanish rice, came with refried beans and freshly grilled vegetables. See my pictures. The freshly made thin tortillas were superb, but one had to be careful or they would dry soon. After you finish, they give you an apperetiv, in a small cylindrical crystal glass. Basically, think of it like Kahlúa with milk, vanilla and ice. It was fantastic. The chips and salsas that preluded the main order were also superb. It is rarely and not always, that I go back to the same restaurant when I'm on a short trip. On top of that the next day? Yes, here it had to be the exception. So this second time, I was here to try the fish soup (exceptional) and the grilled loin of red snapper. I've heard of a pork loin, a beef loin, but this was a first. The entree is a large portion. A thick, succulent, colorful, well charred and grilled portion of seafood, with firm texture and spicy taste. Service here was high class, on both occasions. Two exceptional and hard to forget dining visits, in Tijuana. Wow.

The Gohan Roll was delicious and had a nice spicy kick, and the octopus ala brazas was excellent not chewy or too soft but tender. The best part of all was the flan for dessert. The restrooms were very clean. We received excellent service from Angel he was very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for seafood.

While Lorenza is on the higher end for Tijuana, the exceptional quality of both the food and service make it undeniably worth it. This is not simply a meal; it is a refined culinary experience. This is not a casual setting--dressing well is part of the experience and enhances the overall ambiance. Visiting from San Diego, it felt as though I was dining in an elite establishment in Beverly Hills or Brentwood. Was so impressed of the beauty of the tables, walls, and even bathrooms were all very artistic and creative. This restaurant had some of the best ceviche I have ever had in Mexico. They added peanuts to it which to be was so different & unique at every level but seems to have worked perfectly. Loved every single item that was ordered and can't wait to back again.

The place itself is super pretty and very clean and comfortable. It is not cheap, but it is fairly priced. I put this in the fine dinning category. The service is perfect. Everyone is so very nice. You will be happy here. They have some of the best Italian pastas I have ever had. We love their PENNE A LA ARRABIATA and their FETUCCINNI CARBONARA. You might think you are in Italy. It is just so good. Their fish dishes are also great. We love the RISOTTO DE MARISCOS and their SALMÓN WELLINGTON. You just can't go wrong with anything you order. Their desserts are the bomb. They have a great corn cake and a wonderful chocolate mousse. At least one is a must. Have the best time.

The staffs was all talking stories amongst themselves! They just walk by my table and see the empty glass and don't even filled it until I asked. When I got the bills, the waiter told me we charge a 25% service charge here. I'm thinking, " What service??!‍" I didn't say anything and just pay the 25% service charged. Once again, the food was amazing, but their waiter is too arrogant!
