Do not book any appointments here. The owner is completely unhinged. I called her with plenty of notice to cancel an appointment (not that it's anyones business why, but I explained to her that I had an issue with my small child) and she went absolutely ballistic, berated me on the phone, and then proceeded to call me three times (I assume to continue berating me) and send me an aggressive text message telling me I am never welcome back. A totally unwell and unprofessional reaction to a client for simply canceling an appointment and not to mention, profusely apologizing for having to cancel last minute. ALSO, she claimed she has a cancellation policy if you cancel outside of a 10 hour window (lol, who has that kind of lead time... cancellations typically occur due to unforeseen circumstances, making a 10 hour notice impossible...). This "policy" was never explained to me when I booked the appointment, so beware -- she will also make up arbitrary "policies" on the spot. read more

I felt so pampered, so well taken care and so completely relaxed that it felt like I was walking on clouds by the time I had walked out. Most importantly, my skin was radiant and glowing ! Got a gilt coupon here and was really excited...until I went in. They are not friendly people here. The receptionist is very cold and doesn't seem to care. Renata was my facialist, and the minute I got on to the table she was critiquing my skin. She said I have rosacea...is she a dermatologist? I think not. I have a rosy complexion and never once was told by a dermatologist or anyone else that I had rosacea. At the end of the session she continued to tell me bad things about my skin. I was over it. I have normal to oily skin (dry in the winter) and have occasional break outs in the t-zone area, I always get a classic facial but it is customized to my skin each visit. Every time after an appointment, my skin is absolutely glowing and looks flawless. Dorina really takes her time and is very knowledgable about skincare, however, she never tries to push expensive products. I appreciate the time she spends on extractions and cleaning, and I never break out after one of her facials. I was planning to start coming monthly, but was told that every 6 weeks was fine - the honesty is refreshing and you can tell that this salon is about quality over quantity. The first treatment I received at Maris Dusan with Lydia was absolutely amazing! It began with a phenomenal facial massage and steam. Her treatment room is so serene. It looks onto a garden w a brick wall, flowers and Ivy. Lydia's extractions are so thorough. It's hard to find that in one treatment with an esthetician generally. I've seen many. She then proceeded to give me microderm an infusion of various antioxidants. Within days my skin was smooth and glowing. My second treatment was equally excellent. When she was doing the extractions, the lights bothered me a lot: it was so bright ! I had to ask Reneta for another piece of cloth to cover my eyes after a while. She has said that's how the lamp is and there is nothing else she can do about it. I felt like the lights were straight toward my eyes not my face ...I have been to this place and other places for facial before , nothing like this . Dorina is my aesthetician here - she is amazingly thorough with her extractions, and while this process entails some pain, I'm glad she has a go-getter attitude about it since not all aestheticians do. Yes, it is pricey for the facials here but you do get what you pay for. Dorina's skincare method is simple: use a gentle cleanser, some peroxide/antibacterial, and lots of aloe vera. The only product she urged me to buy was a sulfur mask, because I "needed" it. It wasn't an upsell, but more so a strong recommendation and I definitely appreciated that. Dorina from Maris Dusan has completely transformed my incredibly sensitive acne prone skin over the last two years. I've tried all different products over the years and dermatologists that just prescribed antibiotics and retinoids which resulted in irritated skin and cystic acne. After one session with Dorina I started to see incredible results. She takes her time with extractions and you leave with a squeaky clean face! After facials she advises on next steps to really maximize each visit. And will answer any and all questions you have. I booked 3 appointments with Renate on the phone. I went there today for my first appointment and they didn't have it on their book. It was clearly their mistake because the first appointment they wrote down for me on their book was only 10 days prior my next one. And we all know that two facials should be scheduled at least 3 weeks apart. The front desk kept telling me that I made a mistake about the appointment and she was not apologetic at all. She said "you didn't book appointment today, there is no one here to help you now. What can I do?" I said "not even an apology?" It wasn't easy for me to come all the way from upper west side to have this facial so I was very upset. Yet she refused to apology and simply repeated with very unfriendly voice "you don't have the appointment. You didn't book it through me. Your only option is to pick a date to come back". I said "I won't come back" and she said "ok" and just watched me leave m. It wasted at least two hours of my time and affected timing of my future facial appointments as well (I wanted to have 3 facials including a peel before my wedding in August now I can only have 2). I understand people make mistakes but the least you can do is to apology. This experience with the front desk is most outrageous and no customers should be treated this way. read more
