Joe's pizza is old school and traditional and is the best pizza in Berks County! We have been eating it since 2004.

I tried to visit here today and the place appears to have shut down. Very dirty windows and a closed sign in the front window.

I had a SmashBurger and it was perfect... the right crunch, perfect amount of cheese, and the BBQ sauce was a nice touch. Hubs had the Grind signature burger. He was also pleased but felt it was a little dry. Our friends had the Grinder w/ chicken meatballs and arrabbiata sauce, the Meatball Bowl w/ beef over squash (said the squash was the best thing ever) w/ bacon Gouda, and the Italian Melt (delicious but rich!). Four of us had fries and they are absolutely the perfect fry - pure potato taste! There was also 2 bowls of loaded baked potato soup and 2 bourbon flights for us! Everything got 2 thumbs up. We don't live nearby but we'll be back! PS... the value is there... it's priced just right!

They were a little different than standard stuffed mushrooms. The mushrooms were in a marinara sauce with mozzarella cheese covering them. They tasted excellent lots of gooey cheese. For the main meal I had the chicken Caesar wrap with French fries. My wife had the Margherita fresco flat bread. Everything was excellent you can tell they use local fresh ingredients in their food. The French fries were exceptionally good probably the best fresh cut fries I ever had. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Our waitress did an excellent job checking in on us and keeping our drinks full. The grind also offers a bourbon tasting. We didn't try a flight of bourbon but maybe next time. I will definitely be stopping back in at the grind anytime I'm in the area. If you are ever in the area I would definitely give the grind a try you won't be disappointed!

So I'm sitting there for a few and I'm like maybe they misunderstood and they thought I made a res for 6 people not at 6. So I went to clarify with the hostess. She understood and repeated the same thing. So we sat and waited a few more minutes before she had a change of heart and came out to tell us we could be seated now. We didn't leave for probably 45 minutes and not one more person came in. As soon as we sat down the hostess who was also the waitress came over and asked for our order. We of course we weren't ready. We just sat! She seemed frustrated and I was thinking wow this isn't going to be relaxing. The first thing I see on the menu is the sharing up charge. I hate that type of thing. I always like to do family style and share stuff. I want to try every thing if it's a good place. So we got an appetizer which clearly we were going to share. Luckily we did not get the share charge. The bread you get before your meal is so good. Fresh cut garlic and oil drizzled on it. You also get a side salad that was delicious. When they brought the calamari I tried moving the bread closer to me so the waitress(same as the hostess) could put the plate down. She grabbed the bread bowl from me and moved it to the other end of the table. When our actual meals came she couldn't wait to get our plates off the table. We really felt like we were an inconvenience. I thought maybe it was just a cultural thing. Or maybe she's just overworked since she was the hostess and waiting on 3 tables. Brought us boxes before we were finished our food. So we were like ok fine. We will just pack up. We were going to get desert but we decided let's just blow this popsicle stand and get something somewhere else. The food here is excellent. I would get take out again but I probably wouldn't suggest a dine in experience. Which is a shame. I don't even really like writing this critical of a review because I don't know what was going on in her life so maybe it was just the day.

My veal pizzaiola on my most recent visit was as good as ever and I am particular to the veal di martin on the house specialty section of the menu. The garlic, oil and tomato covered bread and salad with homemade dressing included with your meal are fresh and tasty. While everyone else needed take home containers for their dinner she was shocked I cleaned my plate! The food is the reason you're here and it's superb.

Our server was great and attentive, the food was really good! We ordered the Caesar salad, calamari, chicken with crab, veal saltimbocca, pasta with shrimp and crab, pasta with meatballs (the person who ordered didn't care for the meatballs but is very particular), baked salmon, and chicken parm dinner. Only issue I would address is that some of the parties food came out at least 5 minutes before the others (about 1/2 the party) which made it awkward. Otherwise, a great experience and all want to return!

I ordered the wild mushroom papperdelle. There was no evidence of wild mushroom in this dish. The papperdelle ate plain. The mushroom "ragu" was sliced button mushrooms that were barely sautéed in a watery/ milky broth (not creamy) as if they did not cook the water out of the mushrooms. The Parmesan was added on top at the table to both dishes. Was there a hint of truffle? Maybe in some truffle oil-maybe. The dish was grossly underseasoned. Not a dish I would reorder. I also ordered the octopus appetizer salad. The octopus was seasoned with harissa (not quite Italian but ok). Unfortunately it was slightly overcooked leaving it chewy. The greens were well-dressed arugula. Again not a dish I would reorder. Our waiter was doing double duty in the kitchen while the bus girl was bussing the table so fast she took our flatware before we could pack up our leftovers while tossing the dessert menus on the table. Just did not get a welcoming vibe and would not return.

The chicken picatta was so, so good- just the right amount of lemony goodness. The Marsala was my husband's favorite- he's said it's some of the best he's had. My daughter said her veal was delicious. Get the cannoli- even if you don't normally like cannolis. My daughter loved her gooey snickerdoodle butter cake topped with ice cream. The decor and staff are everything you want in a family-owned Italian restaurant. There was Sinatra music playing and My Cousin Vinny on the TV - it was great. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I tried the meatball appetizer - it was decent but not really anything special. For dinner I had the chicken parm in a blush sauce which came with a side of gnocchi and my dining partner had grandmas Sunday gravy, again both decent. We skipped dessert because it was a decent amount of food. The other thing I'll mention is you're going to want to make reservations if you go. The entire restaurant seats what seems like 30 people.

I was underwhelmed at best with the chicken marsala. The chicken was really dry. I had to use a knife to cut it and it was flavorless. The marsala sauce was not done very well, thin and not full of flavor. Basically all I tasted was mushrooms.I've had a lot better. I asked for linguine noodles and they gave me fettuccine and not a lot of them. There were two big pieces of chicken and lots of mushrooms so that's a plus, however the chicken like I said was not very good, it should've been pounded more, egg washed maybe lightly floured, seasoned and it was over cooked. There's no reason why they couldn't have spared some more noodles. A roll came with it that was fresh however, do not use the butter packets they give you. They were the most salty butter packets I've ever had in my life so the role was ruined. I will say that the Italian wedding soup was very good. All in all it was not worth my $35 or whatever I paid with the tip through DoorDash.
