I've been going there for about 13 years and I have to say that I should've changed doctors a lot sooner. The girls in the front are so rude and they really look like they hate their job.. worst customer service ever. I am thankful to have switched.. read more

Love the new office and team. The front girlies are very welcoming and helpful. My daughter loves her appointments with Dr. Marilou. She is really great with kids, and very knowledgeable. The nurse is always so nice as well! read more

After coming here for over 2 years, I normally liked the visits here but now as a parent that has made the decision to not vaccinate my children the doctor asked me "why" , I gave my reason and after a long awkward silence with a blank stare she proceeded to tell me that she does not accept patients that are not vaccinated. It's frustrating to know that and I expected more from a doctor than just wanting to get paid for vaccines. The nurse gave me an appointment date on a post it after this conversation which confused me so I asked the front desk if what the doctor said was true "is the doctor refusing patients that not getting vaccinated" and I was told by the receptionist "that they have the right to refuse service" and I said "ok, no need for scheduling the next visit". It should be the parent's choice to vaccinate or not vaccinate their children but turning away patients because of it is the frustrating part. Exercise your rights and do your research but ultimately I stand by my decision it's just a shame. read more

I'm very pleased with Dr. Cruz and her staff. My daughter's have been Dr. Cruz's patients for over 10 years.

Extremely professional and friendly staff! Very clean and up to date with covid19 requirements. My children have been patients for 6 yrs now and Dr Cruz has always listened to my families concerns and places referrals immediately when needed. She is very patient, and caring, a true blessing in our lives.!!! read more

I'm writing this review with so much anger. Parents if you have a serious concern regarding your children do not take them to this doctor. This doctor failed to diagnose my daughter with a serious condition after I took her twice for the same concern. She completely dismissed my concerns and didn't even bother to do further tests on her. I had to switch to Kaiser because I was so desperate to get answers for my daughter, on her first appointment at Kaiser her new pediatrician found the problem on her first appointment there. If she would have listened to me from the beginning my daughter would have needed much less serious treatment. Please please go somewhere else read more

My daughter has been seen by Marilou G. Cruz for over 2 + years I cannot believe I had to take her out of state to get a serious diagnosis. I brought back an X-ray for Dr Marilou G. Cruz to give me her second opinion she did not even bother to look at the X-ray she said" I don't know how to read that"! Wow and she did not even referred me to someone that can help me either. The doctor in Tijuana MX told me my daughter needed surgery that is why I went to my daughters primary doctor Marilou to get her opinion. My daughter had a surgery in Tijuana on Friday, June 1st she got her adenoids removed. It's so sad to have doctors here in California that just have a college certificate but in reality that is all they have and no knowledge. I would never take my children to her again. You lost 4 patients with me. read more

Marilou G Cruz, MD - This is the Adenoids my 3 year old daughter got removed in Tijuana MX. No thanks to Dr. Marilou G. Cruz my daughter can breath better. - Pediatricians Near Me - Downey, California

Marilou does not care abt her patients. She cares that they get an appt and she gets her money. Every time my daughters have been seen by her she's in the room less than 5 mins. My daughter has a skin condition and I have been telling her I need a referral for a dermatologist. She kept saying she will be okay but NO it's WORST and she finally gave me a referral after having to argue with her. I still til this day ( a year ago) have not seen a dermatologist bc the referral she gave me did not cover my daughter. She is the worst doctor. And did not take my daughters conditions seriously. Also she asked me if I was willing to test a new flu shot on my daughter??? What?? Go test on your own kids lady!!! read more

I took my daughter to her physical, last Friday May 12, but the girls who are in reception are more aware of the shows in the cellular, than in attending, very poor service of the assistants ..

There is no words, to explain how extremely upset and furious I am! My son has been going to this doctor since he was a newborn she used to have a Smaller practice now since two years ago she moved a bigger location "fancy" well i guess now she is too good for her clients! Dr. Marilou Cruz is negligent! You wait 2 hours to be seen for her to spend 2 Min with you in the room! She always rushes! Doesn't answer your questions she's short! Well this time It went too far! My son is now in the hospital With a severe case of pnemomia because of her! I took him in told her he had Been having fevers for 4 days and a bad cough he can hardly sleep at night! She briefly checked him and Said its Just a virus hell be Okay! Give him Motrin! She sent him Home I called her again 2 days later telling her he hasn't gotten better! Nurse said you have to wait three days before bringing him back! That night was so bad we took him to ER where the doctors automatically just by checking him with his shirt up and and his breathing they admitted him right away with a bad advanced case of pneumonia! He's breathing levels were so low they automatically put him on oxygen tubes and IV's started breathing treatment right away. His right lung is really bad and his left lung is a little better and is the one he's been using to breath! My son could have died because of her mal practice!!! I want everyone to know! Don't go to this doctor! The pix you see below is my son! What parent wants there child to be like this no one! :'( read more

I like Dr. Cruz. She conducts her check ups quickly and efficiently. She listens to you and makes recommendations for your next course of action. For some people, her brisk, no nonsense may be a turn off but I prefer it. Will you have a wait at the Dr's office, even with an appointment? Yes. I get that at my Dr as well. They also have drop in hours from 9am to 10am M - F with any last minute needs which was helpful for me this week since my infant got his first cold and cough (10 months old). I even have my 12 year old coming here. The nurse practitioner (or an intern not sure of teminology?) Was extremely pleasant and made him feel comfortable while he was conducting his ecam. read more

Waited on hold for over 30 minutes just so that they could answer and then hang up on me!!! It took 3 weeks to get an answer on my daughters X-rays. I called every 2 -4 days and they insisted that the X-ray doc hadn't sent them. Well they lied X-rays were sent only a few days after and they made me wait weeks for an answer on my daughters injury. 3 weeks later and 6 calls later I finally got an answer. It's time to change doctors office. read more

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. I'm not sure how she got her MD. I took my daughter.... 2 year old too her this morning. She had fever cough, congestion the normal. She doesn't take the time to even get to know you shoved the stick down my daughters throat. on her chart for many MANY months. She is allergic to the amoxicillin. Not only is it in the chart, 5 minutes before the dr came in the MA asked what she was allergic to an I said amoxicillin. Now what did dr.cruz prescribe my daughter? AMOXICILLIN! now one mistake is fine. but now it's this that REALLY gets me.. I called the cvs to see if they had my daughter New medication ready because she needs to start it! They said no not yet, BUT that dr.cruz prescribed my TWO year old daughter an adult prescription of amoxicillin. 500MG! absolutely insane. Not a mistake I will be okay with continuing at this place. An will be reporting. read more

I just took in my 1 year old, she had us wait over 2hrs, very impersonal...said my daughter was going to be prescribed eye drops and a liquid antibiotic bc of throat and ears, saw her for 2 minutes. They never got the lab work that my daughter had 2months prior so now I have to take her again to get blood drawn. Went to the pharmacy and they said they only have the eye drops and that there was nothing else that was called in. Office was closed already, so now I have to wait til tomorrow to yell at them. I hate this doctor, how does she manage to have her license still, I have no Effin idea! I'm calling doctors tomorrow to switch prescriber. please reconsider coming here, go elsewhere! read more

wish I could give her a negative she doesn't even deserve one star. Parents please do your research before choosing her as your pediatrician. She is a horrible doctor always rushed and does not take the time or care about her patients. She goes from room to room diagnosing everything with the same thing. And to make things worse her prices just went up. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. I seriously don't understand why she has so many patients if she is so unprofessional and rude. Please Please take your kids to someone that actually cares and is willing to find what is wrong with them instead of just trying to see as many patients as she can to put money in her pocket. And I hope she reads this and gets out of Downey so that a real caring and professional pediatrician can come in and take her place. If anyone knows of a good pediatrician please let me know. Waiting times are horrible even with an appointment I don't see why bother making appointments if they don't see you when they scheduled you. She needs a lot of work to be a decent doctor read more

I was a patient of Dr. Cruz when I was a kid....this was over 15 years ago. She hasn't changed one bit. She's a great doctor! She is now my daughter's pediatrician and she actually likes going there. She's very helpful when ever I need something. It's clean and she has an air purifier on the counter for the kids who are sick. When ever I have an emergency with my baby (ok...she's 5) after hours, she calls back right away and will see us the following day. Now, for everyone that feels that they need 5 star service when they're a "walk-in," how would you feel if you had an appointment and you were set aside for someone who walked in? As a consumer, that would upset me. There's nothing wrong with appointments having priority over walk-ins. That's how it is everywhere! Just be glad that at least you're being seen at the last minute. If you were to go to urgent care or the ER, you would wait just as long or longer than two hours before being seen. I would recommend her to family and friends...which I have, and to this day, they continue to go there. read more

This pediatric office is clean and kid friendly of course. They have a movie playing everytime in the waiting room. I like how they ask the right questions and give a diagnose right away. Their walk-ins times are good just in case you are a busy mom and need to stop by quick. They have morning walkins and afternoon walkins. Always a good experience here. read more

I really like Dr.Cruz! My girls have been patients with Dr.Cruz since they were babies. She's really nice answers all my questions and takes her time with my girls. Her staff is super friendly. I highly recommend Dr.Cruz. read more

I have to say the place is nice, the waiting are is child friendly and the receptionist have never been rude to me and have always answered my questions as best they could but I honestly don't understand how in the world this woman is a doctor. I took my 1 year old for a check up but it just so happens he got sick the night before. I go in to the check up and she rushed through the check up then told me everything was good. I said really? Cause he's had a fever since last night she responded with oh really let me check his ears again. My son was uncooperative and she looked for less than a second and told me it's because of an ear infection. I asked if she was sure it had nothing to do with him having a bad cough? she said maybe but cleft babies always get ear infections so it had to be an ear infection. That she would prescribe ear drops. And I could buy dimetapp for the cough. Again my son is 1. After a shit job of a check up she says she'll send the prescription to my pharmacy. It's been 4 days and a phone call later and still no damn prescription order. And all the dimetapp I saw said for children over the age of 6. I even asked the pharmacist and she said never to give a child under 6. My son continued to have a fever the following day, has a very bad cough, and is having trouble breathing. I took my son to his audiologist and what a surprise my son does not have a damn ear infection. I literally paid this woman for nothing. I would have preferred to pay a homeless person to tell me my son had an ear infection without knowing than this rich lady that should know exactly what she's doing. Do not go to this doctor! Or Switch doctors asap! read more

This lady literally giggled about almost giving my 3 week old son his 3 month vaccines. Giggled! Please please please. This Dr and office and staff is the worst. I'll drive 30 minutes to an hour and see a real doctor. It hurts me to give this place 1 star. 0 stars if I could. read more

Let me start off by saying a couple of things. I have had a Yelp account for a long time, but I have never received bad enough service to the point where I felt the need to write a review, and if it was possible to give zero stars I would. About a year ago we took my nephew to get his 2 yr check up, for some reason, after he got his shots, they told us to make him pee in a test jar. Once we gave them the jar back they said they made a mistake, and that he didn't need to do that until he was 3. They also drew a bit of blood from his finger and decided that he was anemic, which he wasn't. Ok, so his 2 yr check up was over. He ended getting a high fever a few months later, made an appointment and took him in. When we checked in, turns out that this Dr. Marilou isn't his pediatrician. What?! Keep in mind, he got his 2 yr check up here a few months back, AND you obviously confirmed my appointment. Waited about 1 and a half to 2 hours to be seen. Get to the room, the doctor doesn't even see him, instead the nurse came in w/paper towels, wet them and put them all over his body. About 15 minutes later she came in and sent us on our mary way. Ok so fastforward to today, we had a CONFIRMED appointment for his 3 yr check up, which they told us he needed. Tried to check in, and surprise surprise, turns out "Dr. Marilou" is not his doctor AGAIN. We contacted another pediatrician and he said that unless he was sick or going to school, he didn't need to be seen. In 2 years that we've taken my nephew there we have seen "Dr. Marilou" 1 time. The girls at the front desk are: rude, untrained, unorganized, have zero common sense, disrespectful, have no sense of how to conduct themselves in a professional manner, have no idea what they are doing, and many more things that only lead me to believe that they are incapable of doing their jobs. Please do yourself a favor and save yourself the trouble and headaches, look for an actual doctor that will actually give you and your children some quality attention. I apologize for the lengthy review, but this shouldn't be something to take lightly. Good luck if you decide to stay with "Dr. Marilou" read more

Their doctors office staff is not personable at all. This includes the doctor sadly, I feel when bringing a child to a doctors appointment you should have a decent connection with the person you're trusting your child with. The Dr is also always in a rush to where she can't give you more than ten minutes of her time to explain things. read more

This office is terrible. What's the point of making an appointment when you still have to wait for over an hour? The staff is unfriendly and incompetent. They mess up paperwork, give out false info, etc and it's happened to us on several occasions. The parking is horrible and the office is kind of run down. The worst part is the Dr herself is not great, her bedside manor sucks, she doesn't seem to care at all, we're all just dollar signs. I'm changing Drs asap! read more

This doctor shouldn't even have a license I brought my kids here several times. Out of those times. Extremely bad experience I took my son for a physical and took his immunization card. When she came in the room she only took a look at the immunization card and said your son didn't even need a physical now I'm not going to get paid for this visit. WOW really she just said that. Unbelievable switching my kids she doesn't need my money or clientele. I will not refer her to anyone. read more

I wonder what they checkup during physical checkup every year. We came to know my son has short stature through another doctor in different hospital, they haven't even discussed about my son's height in any of the year. My son is severely allergic to dairy they haven't even asked to do any allergic test, we suffered for two years every time they say he's fine ...when we had to take him to emergency in different hospital they asked to do blood test which we came to know he's severely allergic to dairy products when we took off the diary product from his diet he's perfect. My advise please change your doctor asap. read more

I love this doctor!! She was my pediatrician when I was little, and I'm so glad that I was able to get my daughter with this same doctor. My daughter is 8 now and has been with her since birth, I have never had any problems with this office or doctor, yes! You do wait to be seen but isn't that anywhere you go? I love how she takes her time to ask questions and make sure everything is going good with my daughter. Last time I had issues with my daughters insurance and the ladies at the front desk were so wonderful and help me out a lot with fixing it! Thank you so much, I don't know why all the negative reviews are there when it's things that happen at any doctors office not just hers. The Dr. and her staff are wonderful!!!! read more

The girls in the front lost my daughters original immunization record I brought them from a previous doctor. Then they tried to act like I never gave it to them. Made me come in twice and wait for two hours for it. My daughter has been seen here twice and I still have yet to meet this Marilou person. Both times it was another M.D. that was in and out in a flash. He even tried to give my daughter vaccine while she was sick. I know I'm no doctor but I do know children aren't suppose to receive vaccine while sick with fever. So I refused and the nurse agreed. She said he was new and to excuse him. Seriously? Won't come here again. read more

First appt was awful! Waited 45 mins for a scheduled appt and felt completely rushed by the dr. It was a checkup and immunization appt so the med asst spent the most time with us, she was nice. Shortly after my daughter got sick and even though I was hesitant, I decided to give her a second chance. Worse than the first one!!! I waited about 1 1/2 hrs, but didn't have appt so I understood, but then when the dr came in she quickly asked what was wrong and proceeded to check my daughters ears. Before I was even done speaking she said it was an ear infection and she would prescribe antibiotics and walked out!! Gasp...I was dumbfounded at the lack of respect she had for us! We're just numbers to her and I refuse to give her anymore business, plus she's just simply not a good doctor. Oh and location and parking are atrocious!! read more

Dr Cruz has been our pediatrician for more than 10 years! I've brought both my daughters to her since they were born. We have had mostly good experiences with no major issues. Dr Cruz's office now has a mostly new front staff that are definitely better and more friendly than before, as opposed to the ones before who would just give us, and I guess other families, attitude. The staff now are very respectful and are able to accommodate my children when they can! I'm really happy about that. We also haven't had any problems with scheduling appointments as of lately. When it comes to the actual checkup or appointment, Dr Cruz is able to explain diagnoses and address any health concerns. She is thorough with exams and is able to answer any questions I had. I would definitely recommend Dr Cruz! read more

My appt was at 11 and we didn't see her until 12. It was my sons 3 yr physical and when she came in to examine him she was there for like 3 minutes. I talked to her about my concerns and she didn't even give me any recommendations. She left and I thought she was going to come back because I had more concerns that I didn't get the chance to ask. When I asked the MA to call her back in there I guess she was too busy and she sent her recommendation to my concern, with the MA. The doctor couldn't even come herself to explain to me. I thought that was extremely rude and unproffesional. I would recommend for this place to get friendlier receptionists/staff and for the doctor to actually seem interested in making patients feel comfortable and important. read more
