Their office is clean and well maintained, and most importantly never crowded with sick patients. Their appointment system allows for fast and efficient visits. As a FIRST TIME MOM it was important for me to feel very comfortable and understood by my baby's pediatrician and staff. From the moment he held my son I right away can see the difference in care from the previous doctors and knew he was the right fit. Our first daughter (born in July 2013) was assigned to Dr. Aguilar because we weren't particularly familiar with the in-network pediatricians in the area. We were both first-time parents & very naive about child care as a whole. So when my OB/GYN assigned us to his office, we were like "okay." I searched Yelp for reviews. There weren't any legitimate ones. And on Angie's list there was not much information. My husband & I then followed the "life's a dance, you learn as you go" mantra. Our second daughter, who was born in August of this year (2014), was automatically assigned to Dr. Aguilar. Since that time I have had mostly pleasant interactions with the front office. We have had only minor hiccups with scheduling, but nothing to fret about. Dr. Aguilar is a wonderful pediatrician. He is thorough during his exams and really does take time to answer your questions. I highly recommend that you write down your questions before you get to talk to him, though. This should go for any doctor, of course. But he seems to be heavily sought after probably for a multitude of reasons. Our interactions with the nurse practitioner, Ms. Kim, have been nothing less than stellar. She is just as thorough and takes great measures to explain her answers as well. I am now almost hesitant to post this review after writing that... I shouldn't forget our interactions with the nurses as they are just as important if not more so during our visits. After all they are responsible for administering the vaccinations. Both nurses that I have interacted with there are very sweet, caring, and gentle. At first they missed pronounced our first daughter's name numerous times, but they've got it now. We have never had to wait too terribly long for our scheduled appointments. Keep in mind, I have never had to schedule a non-check up appointment. Thankfully, neither of our children have had any major health conditions, diseases, or concerns that we have had to address. But as I can see with some of the more recent reviews, Dr. Aguilar and his staff have all of their bases covered. The biggest drawback is parking. I always arrive or try to live at least 10 to 15 minutes before our scheduled time. But recently it seems like parking has been so sparse that I've been either right on time or a tad late. I think the recent influx of parked cars in the area due to the upgraded cardiology center next door. Street sweeping in this area is Thursday from 7AM-11AM. So I went in today with my son. And I was very worried about an illness that he carried. As a single father I didn't know what to do. That's when I met the nurse practitioner Eric Vazquez. Not only did he show compassion and understanding. He reassured me that my son was going to be OK. And as a parent I'm very worried. Even though I was expecting a doctor I was very pleased with the type of care I received from him. Dr Aguilar, I realize that I parked in your parking spot but as I explained when I went upstairs to ask to get it moved it wasn't on purpose. Your uncouth medical assistant decided to argue with me and tell me that this is what happens when you park in a "dr's spot" and that you would "move it when you were done with your patients". Really? So because I parked in your spot by mistake you decided to box me in? Would have been great for one of your many assistants to actually grab your keys and move your Audi5 but no, it's a much better more humane approach to leave me outside waiting for you 30 minutes and counting with my two young girls. What a shame that your entitlement is more important than the well being of your patients. Never ever coming here again! read more

The parking is terrible. I always always have to wait over an hour eventhough i have an appointment. The Dr. rarely sees my child, it is always the nurse practicioner. I never get any info or a summary of what my kid has been injected with, diagnosed with, no written instructions, nothing. Also since they also treat elderly people, the kids have to share a waiting room with much elderly sick people. Oh and i have to call about 34 times in the morning in order to get through. read more

I came to this doctors office because its convenient location and fairly good reviews on YELP. Despite feeling like just another number in their line-up, I continued to take my kids there - no time to do search for a better pediatrician. However, after several times of being dissatisfied with their services I have finally moved on. So here goes my review ..... Front office staff lift no finger to serve the patients' needs. Also, they bill insurance for more than you think. Took my child in for a physical and since we had some questions about asthma and a cough, they billed us for extra services. When there was a lapse in our insurance, they made no effort to complete the second half of my child's immunizations. (Our insurance was effective, but they didn't make the time to find it out) Also, they said there is a program for patients who can't afford insurance and they pay cash.... "But you don't qualify for that" They serve patients as a herder pushes cattle. Seems to me they prefer to have patients with no insurance. And patients who ask no questions. The place is dirty too. Both my kids caught hand foot and mouth disease from their office. I liked Dr. Aguilar in general, but I didn't like how he didn't address my eldest daughter, whom he had previously cared for. We were in the office for an appointment with my other daughter. He should have at least said, "Hello" or "How are you?" to her, but he didn't. He just talked to me about her as if she weren't there. It made her feel unimportant. She's a tween. The other Nurse Practitioner there doesn't have the best bedside manner with the kids. She's too matter of fact and not gentle enough for kids to feel comfortable with her...or like her. Her reaction to me not knowing the exact degree of my daughter's fever subtly expressed condescendence towards me. I think she assumes the parents of the kids she treats are negligent or unintelligent. I didn't appreciate that. In short, I will never return here. If you have options like a PPO, don't waste your time here. Go to a pediatrician's office where your business will be appreciated, where you're not just a number, and where they will value and recognize your needs. read more

Dr David Aguilar is by far the best pediatrician. I have twins they are now 7years old and they both had febrile seizures starting at the age of 9months old. During the seizures he walked us through step by step as many times as need it, educating us as parents about it, no matter the hour he accessible to me when my kids had fever. when they were 5 months old my son suffered of very bad eczema, the former pediatrician made me to take an allergy test, X-ray, even change the formula for a $200 not allergic formula. It took Dr aguilar just one visit to diagnose my baby I treat him for 6 days and the eczema when away up to this date. As a new Mom he has been amazing, providing me with the moral support, and expertise about my kids health. Today I have a third baby... And I'm more under control when she gets sick. We love, love Dr. Aguilar! He has been our kid's doctor since they were born, and we couldn't be happier. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and easy to talk to. We never feel rushed out his office, and he genuinely listens to our concerns, is sympathetic to our needs, offers advice and/or a solution. When our son was a little he would get ear infections at least once a month. Dr. Aguilar's office made sure our son was seen immediately, no questions asked. Dr. Aguilar is a very knowledgeable and informative doctor. And like every medical facility you visit there's a waiting period, so I'm not going to judge this office on that. Our average wait ranged from 30-45 minutes, but the quality of care makes up for it. Some days are busier than others. I just pray that my son's appointment falls on a less busy day. The receptionists have always been pleasant with me. I have yet to run into to any issues with them. Dr. Aguilar never rushes our visit and he ensures all of our issues/questions are addressed. Dr. Aguilar has been the family pediatrician since my husband was younger (20+ years), my brother-in-law went here, and now our children. By far one of the best, When my daughter was born in 2007 we had many problems with the assigned pediatrician so I transferred her in 2009 and she has been in great health since. I can also say being that my daughter has asthma, Dr. Aguilar kept looking for solutions until she was put on the perfect daily medicines and inhaler to keep her from having her constant attacks. Our son was born in April of this year and rest assure Dr. Aguilar is taking great care of his health as well. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they even call me a couple days before my appointment to remind me. I've never waited more than 10 minutes in the waiting area; the appointments are very punctual. They've also managed to squeeze me in for an emergency appointment in the past, which I would prefer instead of going to ER during the day. I would highly recommend Dr. Aguilar to anyone whom is looking for a great pediatrician that cares for his patients, the staff is awesome, and overall a great place and experience for your children. I have a 17 yr old daughter and a 15 yr old son, Dr. Aguilar has been their doctor since birth. I have moved in OC but don't mind the 40+ minutes drive if I need my kids to see Dr. Aguilar. He's a very good doctor. He helped my kids manage their asthma. My kids are very comfortable with him. I also love the fact that you don't have to schedule far ahead to get an appointment with him. My youngest was diagnosed with ADHD by Dr. Aguilar over 2 years ago and recommended medication, the lowest dose and we would work from there. I wanted to do my homework, needless to say, I declined medication. Dr Aguilar said, patiently, "OK, we will be here when you are ready." My daughter's ADHD was confirmed by 2 psychologists, I tried everything, soccer, therapy, cycling, etc. just to avoid medication- you see I thought it would turn her into a zombie. Her grades continued to decline, no friends, withdrawn. She didn't feel part of and soon to enter middle school I hade to take action. I returned to see Dr. Aguilar and started medication. After a few short months of monitoring, and working together, my daughter is doing a great deal better. Bottom line, don't wait until your child's self esteem is compromised, work with the doctor with the medication. If you don't like what it does to your child, get them off, you as the parent are in control always! I wish I had listened and started her on medication 2 years ago. I am grateful for Dr. Aguilar's patience and direction. We are now on the right path. read more

Dr. David Aguilar has been our kids pediatrician for 6 years now and we would not have it any other way. Always able to get same day appointment for Downey or Huntington Park location. Front desk young ladies always making good conversation and very respectful. Both locations are located within short driving distance from our home and work which is a great plus. Dr. Aguilar inspired my teen son about a year ago to make change in his weight and change his eating habits. Today during my son's yearly physical he surprised Dr. Aguilar with a weight loss of 20 lbs. Today was such a great day for my son and Dr. Aguilar was so proud of my son's weigh loss. I feel that Dr. Aguilar is an excellent doctor. He deserves 4.5 stars. He's taken care of my son since the day he got out of the hospital after being born. The only issue I have was that when my son was sick and was sent home after given a prescription, I wish he'd call to check up on my son to see how is doing. The nurse practioner did that for me when my son was seen by her. But other than that, Dr. Aguilar is attentive when your child is there. First, I don't like is that where the facility is located, there is a small parking structure for parking. If there is no parking there (which there isn't many times) you have to park on the street. And street parking isn't very useful either when you have to park really far when there is no parking space. Secondly, the facility only takes cash and no credit cards. I mean c'mon. Nowadays people don't carry cash. When I went the first day and had a co pay and wasn't informed over the phone when I was reminded of the appointment, when I got there, I had to go to the bank and get money out and go back. Otherwise my son wasn't going to be seen. Due to these two main reasons, I switched my son's Dr where parking is more convenient and credit cards are accepted. read more

Both of my boys were assigned to Dr. Aguilar. I wouldn't change Dr. Aguilar, he is a wonderful pediatrician. When it comes down to our boys I'm very picky and thus far I trust Dr. Aguilar with my boys. He takes his time to answer our questions and puts our concerns at ease. I've also have had the pleasure to meet the nurse practitioner Ms. Kim and she is a sweet person and as Dr. Aguilar takes time to look at my child and to listen to us. The most recent situation my youngest child has had I've gotten calls from Dr. Aguilar office to check up on him. I don't know of a lot of doctors that take time to call their patient to check up them. Everyone at the front desk at Downey or Huntington Park location are sweet and always smiling and ready to help out. I have to admit that yes when you call in the morning it takes time to answer your call but again they are busy. I have call to schedule the same day appointment and I've never have been turn away. I saw Heather the nurse practitioner. Heather answer all my questions and gave me helpful advice. The nurse who gave my daughter her vaccine had a gentle touch. My daughter didn't cry at all. I was looking forward to a new,closer to home pediatrician and called, the lady on phone was nice, and also allowed me to take my babes in for an appointment for today, as appointment not walk in. They take blue shield blue cross ppo, witch we have but the big issue is that I have triplets and they only allow 2 patients per appointment, always. I guess they couldn't schedule each babe back to back... I found that weird, because thats how we do it now each babes appointment is 30min apart, our slots are lets say from 1pm to 2:30pm. Anyways that's a big deal, didn't know how to accommodate triplets patients nor gave possible solutions. read more

Dr. Aguilar has been my children's doctor since they were born, and they are now teenagers. Due to asthma, allergies, and ear problems, and with 2 kids 18 months apart, we spent more than a little time in his office. Dr. Aguilar has always been kind and compassionate -- very patient with us in those early "new parent" years when we were high on anxiety and low on experience. He has always explained his diagnosis, given us treatment options, and made sure he answered any follow-up questions. We have always felt respected as parents -- he has never spoken down to us; this is especially important to me as I favor natural treatments over prescriptions when possible. Now that we have made it through those crucial early years and have moved on to adolescence, I continue to appreciate our great "luck" in choosing his practice. Even when the waiting room is full, he gives us his total attention when he is in the room with us -- I have never once felt like he had one foot out the door, trying to hurry us thru so he could get on to the next patient. This has been true of his nursing staff as well. In over 15 years of doctor visits, considering the size and pace of Los Angeles County, I think this is outstanding. For all those of you looking to find a excellent pediatrician, I cannot say it enough -- Dr. Aguilar will be a great gift to you and your family. read more

Dr. Aguilar has been our pediatrician since our son was born in 2012. We have always experience great service every time. On several occasions we have called after hours to speak to the nurse on call. Our phone calls have been returned promply everytime. They take time to listen address our concerns. When our daughter was born earlier this year Dr. Aguilar became her pediatrician as well and we continue to receive great service. Been taking our children to Dr Aguilar since 2007 and didn't think twice about bringing our new born to him. He is friendly and extremely knowledgeable about diagnosing a child condition. Prior to having him we had a doctor that could not diagnose our Childs condition after months of exams and formula changes Dr Aguilar diagnosed his eczema and he was relieved of it in days. For those that complain he wasn't in the day they visited try two things. Schedule for the day he is in Downey or head to Huntington Park where he could also be found. I've been taking my two daughters there for the past 4 years. While it is true that the nurse practitioner is there most of the time, the office is able to accomodate an appointment with Dr. Aguilar himself if requested. I must say though the nurse practitioner is very knowledgeable and she is good at remembering patients. I recently took my 2 newborn for his 2-month appointment with Dr. Aguilar, who right away became concerned with the size of my son's head. He immediately put in a request to have an ultrasound done and when the results showed my son has external hydrocephalus, he immediately requested an MRI to be completely sure. Dr. Aguilar made all the arrangements for my husband and I to take our son and even requested for a neurosurgeon to take a look at his case. I am extremely pleased and thankful for the sense of urgency and concern he showed us. Words cannot express how grateful I am for everything he has done for my son.
