Our family and friends have been going there for almost 5 years The food is great the service very friendly. Mushka Marika and the staff go out of their way to treat our grand daughters like family. In addition to the friendly outgoing family environment, There are many books and stuffed animals for the children to play with. Nice place to visit and great food. I came here with my mom and sister because we were in the mood for breakfast food and they serve breakfast all day. The women working there (a mother daughter team) are super nice and chatty. I could immediately tell that they have a lot of loyal regulars that they have gotten to know really well. I got a blueberry pancake with a side of homefries. The pancake was huge with lots of berries. I spent the extra $1.50 to get real maple syrup. The homefries were big, crispy and delicious. Great family run spot! read more

Marika's is responsible for serving the most tantalizingly delicious breakfasts ever! They also do totally yummy lunch and GERMAN LUNCH SPECIAL ON THURSDAYS!!!!! I have been a regular for years and have yet to be disappointed. Their specials are ridiculously awesome and all made with so much love that everything is from scratch. You also don't have to break the bank and Mama would be proud you got a good homemade meal. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pretty darn awesome. The team of Marika and her parents is what you would expect from family working in close quarters. There is a tiny bit of drama with the sweetness of home. Truly a wonderful place for breakfast! What a hidden gem! We went there today for the first time with our 2 yr old and they were nothing but sweet to him. I love Marikas because I love the atmosphere. It's cozy and comfortable, and everyone on the staff is very welcoming and friendly, especially Marika and her mother. It feels like I've been a regular for years, yet I've only been in Beverly for one year, and don't get to go to breakfast very often (maybe once a month). I thought Marika's was average. The menu selection was average, which means lacking variety. For the vegetarian breakfast goer, there isn't much straight off the menu to choose from but the staff is willing to accommodate. The place is really small and cramped when it fills up. What keeps me coming back is that the staff is super sweet and friendly, and they make sure your visit is just like home. Everyone seems upbeat and happy. You don't want a "sourpuss" serving you your coffee; it can set you up for a sour day! The other thing that I LOVE about Marika's is that they have veggie sausage. Yelpers, if there is another budget breakfast place on the North Shore that has veggie sausage, I need to know about it. Or....maybe I'm happy just devoting myself to Marika's. The boy and I (my lad who is featured in many of my Yelp reviews) went in recently for Texas French toast and veggie sausage and eggs. Everything was lovely, cooked to order, did not take long, and did I mention the delightful staff? Oh, I did, that's right. During our visit, it was pretty slow when we got there and an absolute scene when we left. Half the world showed up as we were sitting there, which is to the restaurant's credit. Marika's is a wonderful unique dining experience. The staff and the food are equally fantastic. The corned beef is homemade and flavorful. And the baked beans are sweet (made with molasses). Marika's is my quiet Sunday morning treat. The food is delicious and the staff is adorable. It's a family owned business and has a wonderfully dated atmosphere. You will not wait in huge lines or be cramped into a little booth, which I find so common at other area breakfast places. You will also not be rushed a long, and in good weather you can sit outside. If you are in a rush and like everything to be shiny and new, not the place for you. Skip it. Food is unmemorable and the service is AWFUL. I went there once, waited forever for my order to be taken, waited forever for my food, the waitress completely ignored my table (didn't refill coffee, take plates, check up, et cetera) - even though she was VERY attentive to the other tables nearby, where a few older couples sat. Interesting. Even though they came in several minutes after myself and my companion, they were welcomed first, served first, offered coffee refills... waitress didn't even look at our table as she continued walking past! We had to walk up to the counter to ask for our order to be taken, then again for the check. It is the one and only time I've ever gone somewhere and not left a tip. Great food! We have only had breakfast there but it was delicious - hard to choose from the tasty options. The service is pretty good - they are a bit strict / intense - but attentive. The wait for food can also be awhile but I assume that's just because they are making your food from scratch, which is worth it. read more

My favorite place in all of New England, if not just in general. When I go back home to Detroit, I tell stories about this place and the people who work here. I've never been to a place where I love seeing the same people, hearing about their lives, and enjoy the food all at the same time, usually every other place is 2 of those 3... I've explored the menu a bit, tried a couple of the specials, and not ONCE - EVER have I been disappointed or have left less than full and satisfied. I started taking my boyfriend w me who began to love it as much as I do, and now reminds me if we haven't been there in a while. While it is cash only, the prices are more than fair. Marika loves to tell you about the ingredients (usually fresh &/or organic) in her specials as well as your order, and the family does a great job running the place. I definitely have went way out of my way to get breakfast here more than a few times. Worth every single penny. read more

been doing breakfast for 30 years. this place was terrible. i ordered a western omelet and the ham wasn't cooked. the omelet wasn't done in a pan, it was on the flat top. the home fries tasted blah and the service was terrible. the waitress took her sweet time getting me anything. the waitress looked crossed when i didn't finish my food and actually questioned me on it i waited almost 10 mins for a check and they were on the counter 6 feet away from me. i will not be returning. read more
