As a former service member I suffer with autoimmune disorder, fibromyalgia and low Testosterone levels which I feel were brought on by my exposure to burn pits. I also have a history of shoulder, hand, and back surgeries which in May, 2022 forced me to undergo an L4/L5/SI back fusion surgery to remedy degenerative discs and herniations. As soon as it was permitted after I began physical therapy (PT). I have severe neuropathy to my left leg/foot while my right foot also remains numb. Needless to say my balance and other motor skills are severely delayed. While making some progress with PT, I began experiencing a new numbness now in my fingers, hands and arms. For every good day, I experienced 3 bad days where I just wanted to stay in bed, be left alone and suffer through the head and body aches all with living with the uncertainty of not knowing if I can regain any quality of life. I was at 6 month post surgery when I Iearned of Dr. Garoppo' s practice from someone I met at PT. Based on a glowing recommendation for Dr. Garoppo, I immediately contacted her office and was surprised when I received a call after hours to discuss my health issues. I was even more excited when she scheduled me for the very next day. At her request to garner a better understanding of my overall medical and at times mental health conditions, Dr. Garoppo, myself and my Physical Therapy Dr., engaged in a conference call which resulted in them garnering a better understanding of my physical ailments and ongoing limitations. This effort enabled Dr. Garoppo to develop a treatment plan that benefited my overall medical and mental well being. Dr. Garoppo's ability to listen, develop an understanding of my ailments and then readjust the treatment when necessary is outstanding. I remain impressed by Dr. Garoppo' s knowledge and skillet of acupuncture and her utilization of myofascial therapy to reduce my pain. I first saw a chiropractor to get the bone back into the correct position. The chiropractor showed me the x-ray with the arthritis and said there was nothing more he could do and recommended acupuncture. It was so painful I still couldn't walk on it without extreme discomfort. It's been two years and I am walking like I never had an injury. The second issue was my lateral meniscus. I tweaked it and there was so much inflammation that I could not bend my leg. I was in terrible pain and couldn't sleep. I went to the orthopedic doctor and they did x-rays. The x-rays showed that there was no tear so they prescribed an anti--inflammatory medication. After several days I didn't get any relief. So, I went back to Dr. Luo and after only 4 visits, I'm able to bend my knee completely with no pain. The third ailment was congestion. I was sick the entire month of October. I got on antibiotics and even after the sickness I couldn't shake the cough or congestion. I was miserable. I couldn't breathe. So, back to Dr. Luo. One session and I can breathe.
