Inn of Chagrin - The sunlight is amazing in this classic queen (Room 3)!

Great location and very friendly staff (shout out to Maggie). However, the room was not up to what…read morewould be expected for the price. The bathroom tile (Room 14) has excess grout all over the tiles, which could have been easily cleaned. Bath towels are what you would expect at Motel 6. There was an air conditioning unit in one window which had a cord trailing to the wall outlet and would therefore not allow the shutters to properly closed and with no shade to pull down it kept the room exposed to the outside. Fireplace did not work. Continental breakfast was extremely sparse. How hard would it be to get some baked goods from the next door bakery. We were honestly expecting better experience for that price.

My wife grew up in South Russell. The Inn of Chagrin has been a part of our lives for more than 38…read moreyears. We recently traveled to Chagrin Falls to enjoy Thanksgiving with her family. Due to room availability, we stayed a few nights in Room 10 and then Room 8 for a couple nights. Both rooms are on the second floor. This was the first time we stayed since the remodeling. The updates are very nice and most welcome. At all times, the staff was friendly and engaging. Nanette and Maggie were especially helpful. I wish that this could be a five star review for this charming and historic inn. However, some important issues subtract stars. MINUS 1 STAR: The lack of an elevator requires one to climb the staircase, a task made more difficult with luggage. The stairs present a challenge for seniors and those with health concerns. Though quaint, the round doorknobs and metal room keys present challenges for those with arthritis or other conditions. MINUS 1 STAR: The prior reviews regarding the HVAC in the rooms remain in force. Adjusting the heat was difficult. We ultimately found it easier to turn the gas fireplace on and off as needed. And the water heater is insufficient. On Sunday morning, we ran out of hot water as other guests were first to shower and bathe. MINUS 1 STAR: The remodel sacrifices guest functionality for accessorizing. Nearly every flat surface in both rooms was filled with pottery and other decorations. As a result, we laid our hard side suitcases open on the floor and operated from there. In Room 8, which features dark blue walls and a dark wood floor, a pair of short black tables holding pottery and other objects sit at the corner of the bed. To avoid tripping over these at night, I draped a white tee-shirt over these.

My husband recently stayed here while out on a business trip. He had nothing but good things to say…read moreabout this place. We took a road trip and he suggested we stayed here. Omg, the minute we pulled up the parking lot, I had really good vibes on this place. The minute we walked in, we were greeted and the staff was very kind, helpful and sincere. They were patient with all the questions we were asking about the area (this is located in Amish country). Dining and activities. There was cookies at the counter, displayed in lobby were historical facts about Amish country and the town, library, and coffee/snack station. It just felt like we were at home. So quiet and peaceful. The room was clean. What an amazing view of the the rolling hills of Ohio and a beautiful farm next to the hotel. We had a tiny patio with a spacious room. Can you believe this, we even had an kuerig coffee maker. How cool is that? Outside of the hotel, there is a small quiet area you can sit and relax and also a small gym with recreation center. Waking up to fresh breakfast was the best. The eggs was fresh and not runny. Breads were not stale, great selection of pastries and other healthy alternatives if you don't want the bad stuff. This is the best hotel I stayed at by far and highly recommend it. Pricing was fair. Stayed on an Sunday with tax $125.00. Not bad at all. Great hospitality and experience. All hotels should be like this.

I've stayed at B&B's all over the country, and I have to say this is one of the best I've…read moreencountered. It's new, and it's the only B&B in Berea, with the quaint downtown square right around the corner. The owners are quick to respond to any problems, the location is fantastic, the beds are good. Even the *towels* here are top-notch. When I checked to make sure I didn't have down pillows, I found brand new allergy shield pillow covers on high-quality synthetic pillows. When you stay in a B&B in an old Victorian or heritage home, usually that means dealing with a tiny bathroom, undersized shower, and so on; the beautiful old home that houses Riverside Gables was completely renovated in fall 2012, with nice big showers, new fixtures, and new floors. Guests even have a sitting room, with a kitchenette and fridge, Keurig coffee machine, spare dishes, and (my favorite) electric kettle and teapots for tea. Glass bottles of water are kept chilled for the use of the guests, and it was great to have that bottle of water to take to my room (and also not feel like I was wasting a plastic bottle just to have something cold to drink.) There's also a separate back door for guests. Breakfast has been excellent: fruit salad to start, juice, a beautiful omelette the first time I stayed and a Belgian waffle this morning. The owners have a beautiful Golden Retriever, but he is not allowed in the B&B portion of the house. Catherine is lovely to talk to, knowledgeable about the area, and responsive to the needs and preferences of her guests. If business brings me back to the area, I will *definitely* put this place at the top of my list.

The bathrooms are sizable and modern, the bedrooms are cozy and comfortable, plus there's a sitting room if you want to get out of the bedroom. The owners are pleasant and sociable and they've got a friendly Golden Retriever who's quiet and stays out of the guest part of the house. Second best is that they've got both a Tesla wall charger and a J1772 charger for those with electric cars, and the best thing is that you have the delightful Rocky River Valley across the street for driving and recreation.
