Then we discovered we are both retired school teachers! WONDERFUL exchange of our experiences, while we sat in the kitchen with coffee and muffins. I have been back to visit only once since it is quite a trip for me to drive. However, I'm heading back to Akron in late November or early December, depending on when the Clinic in Wadsworth has their opening. I think she may be a little clairvoyant, because Charlie anticipated our every need, and few we didn't even know we even had! Our every request and whim was fulfilled before, during, and after our stay, and if Charlie couldn't provide something, she knew someone who could, including her wonderful husband John. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable, with breathtaking views that changed with the weather or time of day. Each breakfast was more spectacular than the last, and we could have spent the rest of our days sitting on our balconies. But Charlie encouraged us to get out and about and see all that Hartville has to offer. Restaurants, wineries, farms, antiques stores, specialty shops, and some amazing second-hand stores awaited us, and we enjoyed each and every one of them. We were welcomed with open arms by Charlie and John, and everyone in the community, and will carry the memories we made with them in our hearts forever. Highly recommend!

We just got back from our 2nd visit. The first time, we were in the Emily cabin in the summer,…read morewhich had a huge plot of land and plenty of trees go tie a hammock to. It was a 1 bed cabin that was a little crammed, but managable and still super nice. We made many nice fires and took advantage of the hiking path on site. The second time, we wanted more space to put our bags and chill, so we got a two bed (same price). We went in the winter. I would highly recommend for couples if you don't mind the window cut in half by a bed). It comes with extra seating outside and inside and an extra ledge next to the bed close to the window. This was the way to go. The Carleen cabin was pretty beat up (under sink door didn't close all the way, lots of bumps and scratches, many crayon marks everywhere), so I assume that families take advantage of this style. This plot of land was half the size of the Emily cabin and seemed much closer to our neighbors. The hot water lasted 5 minutes in the shower, whereas the Emily cabin's water lasted for almost 10. What we did enjoy was the snowy walks on the trail, the view was better from our window/wildlife was more active, and we were able to make a fire on one of the days. They provide salt for the stairs so you do not slip. Adding on late check out is a must, as is taking advantage of the "provisions" inside the cabin for an extra charge and the firewood/fire starters outside. You have to put away all technology while on your site to get the most out of the experience, though I would recommend bringing an alarm clock. We always feel relaxed and closer to nature coming, and will be back to experience each season at Getaway (it's Postcard now, but we still call it Getaway)!

Came here for Mothers Day. Worth the visit to see the house and gardens…read more We were told when you come around Christmas there are not as many rooms open for the house tour. But on Mother's Day we got to see a lot of the rooms we never saw. And got to ask more questions and take our time a bit more. All around good experience. You want to see as many of the rooms as possible. Pro tip. If you are doing a house and garden tour leave the house thru the front door. This way you don't have to back track the gardens. Out the front door take a right to head along the back of the house and the gardens. Don't miss the greenhouse. The Japanese garden and the really all the gardens are beautiful. It's a nice walk. You can definitely get your steps in. It's a nice afternoon. We spent about 2.5 hours. Could have spent longer. But we were hungry. This was a good experience overall and fun afternoon.
