I was looking for an inexpensive place to stay when I was in columbiana, Ohio, and found the Davis motel. From the outside it looks like a very old 1950s or '60s style motel. But don't let the exterior fool you. This is a very solid deal! When I went to check in the man at the front desk was very friendly. Very helpful to give suggestions, places to eat, etc. And they even give you a cool little welcome bag with water and some snacks! That was a nice treat. The accommodations were comfortable, clean and bonus points. I could park my car right in front of the room. Bottom line? I would definitely stay here again. I was skeptical at first but after reading reviews I thought this might be a cozy little gem. I was not right. This was part of a bigger busy trip so I only wanted a place to shower and sleep, so it's ok for that. I had to wear my flip flops in the shower tho. No bed bugs which is a huge plus! We were given goodie bags of drink and snacks which was kinda cool. But the motel is old and falling apart. Most of the damage is cosmetic which I can overlook but when it comes to cleanliness I do think they could do a whole lot better in the bathroom. We booked a room at Davis Motel based on all the positive reviews. What we received was an old Mom & Pop motel with air conditioners/ heaters in the windows of the rooms. Basically there is no window because of the air conditioner/ heater. The door to the room was not sealed properly. You could see daylight between the floor and the door. Freezing air was pouring in , so we had to put a towel across the bottom of the door to keep out the cold. The walls are thin - the noise of trucks rolling by made it impossible to sleep. One dude had his car idling in the car park at 6am. Shower pressure was weak. The room was very small. As world travelers, we have stayed in our fair share of Mom & Pop motels. Generally we love them but we have never paid $113 for the experience. This is a $60 one star motel tops. Total rip off. Don't believe the fake reviews! read more

I stayed here last night while attending a concert at covelli center. Granted there were closer places, but I wanted something cheap and off the beaten path. This little motel fit that bill perfectly. If you're looking for luxury and elegance this ain't your place. It's old and funky and I loved it. Everyone was really friendly and I even bought a beer from the front office after my uber driver dropped me off. They have a little section where you can buy drinks and such which was cool. Forgot to take pics of the room but it's your basic motel room. Looked like there were quite a few occupants but it was really quiet. Heater worked well as did everything else. Having said that, my only suggestion would be that when the room is cleaned that they push the switch on the TV back to the TV side! I saw the little note on the TV but didn't really think about it when I hit the on button on the remote. I thought it was an option on the remote itself since I didn't look that closely. Well needless to say the TV came on literally blaring the adult channel. I mean it was kind of funny, but not. I'm not into that and just kept wondering what my neighbors thought lol. So if you stay, be mindful of that especially if you have kids that might just grab the remote and turn the TV on. Early education to say the least! read more

Let me start by saying that we have stayed at the Davis Motel many times over the years and always enjoyed our stay but, we will not be back. I struggled if I should write review but know I have to. Last week there was a senior man in the office who was very ignorant to me because I was talking to my mom in Spanish. I conducted our business in English but was answering her question in Spanish because she dont speak English good. Five stars seems a bit generous to me. True, it isn't the Hyatt, but it isn't the Comfort Inn either. It's a no-frills option next to a truck stop in a relatively convenient location, at an affordable price. If you are on the side facing the truck stop, as I was, there will be a low rumble from the idling trucks and a faint smell of diesel throughout the night. The rumble is actually kind of nice as white noise for falling asleep, in that regard it's better in a way than many Marriotts, but the whiff of diesel isn't really a bonus. The furniture is utilitarian, but functional, and the bed is comfortable enough. Cleanliness was also good. The parking lot could use some re-sealing, but there aren't any motorcycle-swallowing potholes yet. The welcome packet proved to be well-suited for the outdoor adventures I had planned in the area, being a nice supplement to the trail snacks I'd brought. Bill Davis himself was super friendly when I checked in, and we probably could've talked for half an hour easy. There was also a tuxedo cat hanging out nearby multiple times when I exited the room, check for it under your car! The area, as mentioned, is convenient. The Five Branches barbecue restaurant next door was a good dinner choice, and C's Waffles down in North Lima is an excellent breakfast option. You're close to multiple nice bike trails (including Little Beaver Creek, one of the best in Ohio), and not far from the gardens in Youngstown. And it's fairly close to some of the major thruways. In the end, I'd definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area, just have realistic expectations that it's a utilitarian option, not a quaint independent hotel with unique decor and fancy landscaping. read more

My husband and I stayed 2 nights over the 4th of July weekend. From check in to check out, the employees were very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was clean with excellent WiFi. Even with a parking lot full of big rigs, we weren't bothered by noise. The bed was very comfortable and I was able to sleep well even with my back problems. I would definitely recommend this motel to anyone on a budget. AND the FREE bags of ice were wonderful. A big thank you to all the staff for making our weekend worry free. Elegance, Stylish, Tasteful, Lovely, just some words i would use to describe Davis Motel. Fastest Wifi East of San Francisco with some of the classiest employees this traveler ever seen. Cleanliness and value would be two of the best ways to describe this gem in Ohio. The adult channels supplied a learning experience for the wife and I along with having one of the hardest streaming showers straight from Lake Erie. This hotel needs to be a staple of a visit for any traveler through NE Ohio. Davis Motel will go down as a place i stay on a regular basis as long as they keep the smiling staff. read more

Four times in the past four years my wife and I have stayed at the Davis Motel when traveling from Philadelphia to Michigan. We went there first because of a review that noted the 1950s décor and the owners who are in the office and will give you an amazing history of the hotel and its patrons. We liked that the room was clean, the sheets and towels clean, and it's a friendly place to stop (and the price is reasonable). There are plenty of restaurants nearby from fast food to the very good Italian place Capri Café. We recommend you consider stopping here too. read more

Very interesting place. Let me start off by saying this place is very clean. To be honest when we pulled up I thought "oh dear" what have we gotten ourselves into. Let me tell you, what we got ourselves into was a great deal and a good place. If you want the Hyatt, stop reading now. If you want a hotel to spend the night. You found it. No frills but it got the job done. The room was very clean, including the bathroom, and the sink area. The bed was comfortable. I fell right to sleep. The TV is interesting... You have two options Cable or Porn-if you're into the latter. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and the lobby had everything you needed. My only complaint was the door. It needed a deadbolt and a better lock. I felt safe here but I would have liked better security to my room (and maybe better shades and curtains that covered the whole window). read more

This was our second time staying at the Davis Motel which was July 20-23, 2018. What a great place. All of the people at the front desk are friendly, the rooms are very clean. They have coffee 24 hours a day, give you ice, they sell beer and canned pop if you need it. I can't say enough about the hospitality the Davis Motel gives to their staying customers. Booked the Davis based on online reviews and wanted to try something other than the usual budget chain hotels. Got a $55 price (it ended up about $72 when I got there) through an online hotel app. I was lead to believe that this place was the highway travelers "hidden gem" of Ohio. I would have to politely disagree. On the plus side: Staff is friendly and make you feel welcome. The front office has a domestic beer selection for you thirsty truckers. The bathroom and room were mostly clean. AND finally it is easy to find right off the interstate. The minuses are many. The "smoke free" room smelled like smoke. The bedding and pillows are old and low quality. Room decor was that of your buddies basement bedroom in 1977, (panelling walls, cheap furniture and dark). Maybe in 30 years it will be "cool retro" but today it just seemed old and somewhat run down to me. Maybe truckers like the free porn and cheap room but this isn't a great place to bring your family. I hate to leave a somewhat negative review but I think there needs to be some honesty here fellow yelpers. The owners of this joint need to hear the truth and put some $ into fixing this place up. read more

Staff checks on me every day and are super friendly and helpful. There is a 24 hour truck stop and Mcdonald's right next door and plenty of places to eat near by. This small, old motel delivers exactly as expected. It is close to the interstate in an area with few motels. It is clean and quiet. The office is open 24 hours and also sells alcohol, which was very welcome after we missed an interstate split off and ended up 100 miles from our desired destination. It is hard to review this property because there is a significant dichotomy between the initial impression (the outside appearance of the property & staff) and our room. The facility is pretty run down, many potholes in the parking lot. Someone was sitting outside the main office at a TV tray smoking. The man who serviced us at check-in was very friendly but told us several times that he was the maintenance man (for 35 yrs! Good for him!!) and this was not his forte but he was doing the best he could. The other front desk worker was not "feeling well" and she moved very slowly. The experience was a bit unnerving. However, the room was clean & the A/C worked well. The bathroom was clean and at least the sink & toilet worked fine (we did not use the shower). It cost us $63 (+$10 for extra person + $11 tax) for the night. Probably wouldn't stay there again. Thanks, though! read more

When my husband suggested we stopped and rest in a small motel in Ohio, I was a bit concerned, the price was low and it was a motel. Lots of thoughts went through my head. When I reluctantly agreed and we got there, my husband was greeted by a lovely lady in an adorable cat sweater which eased my mind some. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and comfortable the room was. The AC/ heater worked without drying out the skin or nose. I slept soundly and woke up feeling rested. As we checked out, we took on the free coffee offer and they even had home made pastries. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean comfortable room to get some rest. read more

This is the third time staying at this establishment and i must say its once again just as clean as a whistle, one could eat off the bathroom floors if you so wanted to. The motel isnt new and isnt fancy but its clean, comfortable and a most excellent value for the money. The front desk clerk was most helpful and friendly, such good people running this place. We stayed at the Davis Motel because all the other places off the highway were booked or only had smoking rooms. The lady in the office was super nice and welcoming. Looks like they've been in business a long time based on the displays in the office. The room was basically clean, although it did smell like it had been smoked in even though it was supposed to be nonsmoking. The place is a real old trucker and working man's motel. I think they rent rooms by the week, and someone even had a grill outside their room. It's very old and dated, super low budget. There's a saloon and a strip joint type place on one side and a trucker travel stop and McDonalds on the other side. Wouldn't be my choice if I had other options but it wasn't a horrible experience either. read more
