I drove all the way from Yuma to try this Marieta's. I used to live in Santee and went to that location at least once a week for 20 years. I was really craving their food so I tried this one and it didn't disappoint. The service was great and so was the food. I really love the chips and salsa and margaritas. I liked it so much that I bought a bunch of food to take home. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because I've only been once. If I decide to take the 5 hour trip for lunch again maybe I'll upgrade. read more

Marieta's in Alpine is the only Marietta's in the chain to eat at. The service is impeccable and the food is excellent. The waiters have a wonderful personality and are very accommodating to your needs and wants. They make sure your drinks never go empty and meet all of your specifics that you may have and the minor changes you'd like and what you order. The ambience is amazing. Went here on the recommendation of a friend. The carnitas were lack luster. Deep fried pork but no good carnitas flavor. At first I thought maybe the oil was rancid but then my wife tasted it and said it just has no flavor. Chips and salsa were meh. Probably will not be returning. read more

All though, Alpine has slim pickens for food, I don't think I will return after my experience here tonight! Chicken enchiladas were cold and absolutely disgusting, sent them back to get a decently warm plate of the same disgusting chicken enchiladas in return. Something tells me they didn't remake them but instead tossed it in the microwave to reheat. After complaining about this plate disgustingness, the lady had the audacity to charge me for a meal I did not eat and even returned. Local Gem in Alpine. Hankering for a quick lunch bite so I walked into this awesome homey restaurant. I was immediately greeted and given a menu to order. My food was To Go but I could've eaten inside or outdoors in their seating area. Super friendly server took my order for the 3 Tacos Al pastor to go. I got rice and guacamole. The food was so good I reached out to some friends so they will know about this place. The 3 tacos were beautiful to look at but even better to eat. Loved having the guacamole to spoon all over them. Went in on Saturday night 3/9/24. After we were done eating we saw a HUGE rat run across the restaurant. The staff didn't act surprised and were very nonchalant. The health department closed them down on Tuesday 3/12/24 and said the kitchen is full of rat droppings. Obviously we will not be returning EVER! read more

My wife and I live closer to 2 other Marietta's near El Cajon, but the welcoming atmosphere and our previous good dining experiences have made the extra drive to Alpine worthwhile in the past. Today's lunch changed our minds about ever going there again. I had my usual beef tamale combo meal which was great as always. My wife ordered a chicken taco ala carte which was served severely overcooked with pieces of burned chicken inside. I don't understand how any cook with any pride at all in his work could serve something so inedible. My wife picked out the burned chicken and reluctantly ate some of the rest which was wrapped in an overcooked tortilla. We returned the burned taco remnants to the waiter who took it back to the kitchen. We asked that we not be charged for the taco. A few minutes later, the manager came to our table and I reiterated our complaint. He seemed to confer with our waiter, but then the waiter then brought over our bill for the full amount. I was very disappointed with the apparent indifference of the restaurant personnel who were unapologetic for serving us such a poorly prepared meal, even after we said we would never come back. I guess getting our $5.00 for the taco was more important than keeping a customer. read more

I have been going to Marriettas here in Alpine for many years, and it has always been excellent food, excellent service, and a beautiful ambiance. My favorite entree is their trio Fajitas, and it is perfect to share with a guest. I also love to enjoy their guacamole dip while we wait for our Fajitas My boyfriend and I went there this past Sunday, and we left disappointed, unfortunately. There were little tiny pieces of chicken (we had a hard time finding any at all actually and very little stringy pieces of beef. I will say that there was plenty of shrimp and it was very flavorful. There was ALOT of onion, which I liked, but it seemed they were skimpy on the other and using onion as a filler. I'm not sure if we will return anytime soon, but when we do, I will certainly mention that please be sure to add the beef and chicken. Yes, it was a trio and not just the shrimp because we did find pieces of beef and chicken. Would have mentioned it that night, but our server was clearly busy. read more

The taco was not edible. HARD shell, barely broke up with a fork. Very little beef in it. The enchilada was just okay. i got the cheese quesadilla. i do have to say, the cheese was excellent. but it was just an average quesadilla. The server was very slow. not sure why he wasn't on the floor, maybe he was cooking too? There are better places to go to.
