Receptionist said 'just so you know the doctor is running about an hour behind'..... if the doctor is running that far behind, y'all should be calling patients ahead of time to let them know. My appointment was at 1:15 I was not seen until 1:50. If I was that late as a patient I would be rescheduled. So why is it that my time can be wasted? It's really hit and miss if you'll get a provider that will actually listen to your needs and treat you. I wanted to talk to an OBGYN about a c section and the midwife- Suzanne McCloskey - said "no you don't" and tried to end my appointment. after pushback she said "you can talk to a doctor, but they'll tell you no just like I did". I had a provider cancel my appointment (Renee Howard) because she wanted me there to fill out the same paperwork for a THIRD time and because it was only 10 minutes early she cancelled it (even though it was already completed) and this was a very important genetic testing appointment for a blood draw. She also doesn't read my paperwork before she comes in and the nurse asks the same questions for an additional time. Definitely not women who care about the health and wellbeing of their patients. If you have to go see Cecelia heys, Dr Kate Maroney or Dr Jackson (they're great). The other women have weird power complexes and don't care about their patients health needs. read more

Came in for a wellness exam and was charged for that plus an office visit after being told by the dr I needed to schedule a different appointment for women issues. Dr. was condescending, but I'm not surprised. Why tell me you can't discuss answers to my questions without another visit, and then decide to double charge me anyway? Three years. I have been a patient of Doctor Hebets for THREE YEARS. In this time I can count six separate occasions in which the front desk receptionists have been beyond reproach but today takes the cake. I had booked my Aug appt OVER TWO MONTHS in advance knowing full well the difficulty of getting in with her. Needing a well woman's visit, discussing tubal ligation, and renewing my hypothyroid medication are paramount into a woman's health, and this appt isn't something that could be done virtually. I called a week ago to see if there were any early morning appointments to ensure I had childcare. I was given the option of a Tuesday morning so I canceled my initial appointment and come to the Tuesday morning. yesterday I received a call from a young receptionist who said that "Dr. Hebets is not available let's reschedule your appointment." No: " I apologize for the inconvenience, can we reschedule your appointment?" No: " I see that you have schedule disappointment out in advance, I apologize for the inconvenience. I do have another provider available at this time, will this work for you?" I explained my frustration of having books so far in advance, rescheduling only to be told a week before that it cannot be done. No accommodations. I asked the receptionist "can you please see what other openings are available in the morning?" Her: " dr. Hebets has no morning appointments available." Me, incredulous: "there's got to be something I can't do an afternoon-" Her: (rude condescending tone) "ok I'm going to place you on a brief hold." Not a request. So I hang up, once she's available she can call me back and reschedule and hopefully by then they'll have a morning appointment. This morning I receive this text. No phone call. Just a text saying they've cancelled. No alternatives in provider or morning slots with the one who has managed my care for the last three years. I swear once Michelle Davis the Midwife left this place went DOWNHILL. Michelle and Dr Hebets were the only reason I stayed as long as I did, but at this point I can't even get with Hebets. So off to another practice me, my mom, and four other referrals we go! read more

I had previously had a poor experience with this clinic (about a year ago for a Pap smear) however, I came in today and I was so happy with how my appointment yet. Scheduling an appointment was super easy. I looked online and they magically had appointments open for the NEXT DAY (which literally never happens at OBGYNs). All of the staff was super friendly and helpful. I saw Dr. Michael Urig, and he was amazing!! He talked with me so much about my medical concerns, and walked me through what we were going to do going forward. Going to the doctor's can be scary, but Dr. Urig and the team at Maricopa OBGYN made it such a nice experience. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Brock Jackson. Appointment went great. Dr. Jackson made me feel really comfortable. He didn't rush me at all, took time explaining treatment options, alternatives, risks vs benefits, and how I will feel. During my uncomfortable procedure he made sure I was doing ok. I have to give this place 5 stars. It was very easy to make an appointment, get set up online, and head in. I am recently pregnant and live alone far from family, and I'm definitely more on the sensitive side. That said, Dr. Bell, the nurse and even lab staff were absolute gems. They were direct and knowledgeable while also listening and addressing my concerns sensitively. I feel extremely comfortable in their care and look forward to remaining a patient here. The place is a little run down, but just learned they are doing a big renovation which will hopefully improve the overall look (didn't take off any stars bc doesn't impact the medical practice of course). read more

Sooo I have been a patient here for about 6 years, I have even brought patients here. If you want to make an appt and be on time forget about it. I haven't seen an actual doctor in I don't know how long, if you want an appt you will be waiting for months. Not to mention the HIPAA violations of saying your full name infront of other patients. I Understand they had to make a few changes with COVID, but HIPAA always applies, they should not have someone outside saying a patients full name EVER. Not to mention at the counter either. Sadly I did not have a good experience here at Maricopa OBGYN. I had high hopes when I called and they told me I would visit with only a few high risk OBGYN's, but when I got to my appt I found out that there were 8 high risk OBGYN's and I will also be working with NP's. I was not happy with the staff at all on my first visit. I felt as if I was just a number, not a human. I expressed that I have serious medical concerns and need a high risk OBGYN to discuss some of my concerns. Each person seemed to have an excuse and pass me along. Whether I worked with the greeter, the ultrasound tech, the NP, or the phlebotomist, no one seemed to validate my concerns. The NP stood in our room and gave us a pamphlet for any faq's. the NP, CeCe, never asked us if we had any concerns or questions. So my husband started to ask questions and she seemed impatient and answering the questions with short answers so she could leave. Again, no follow up concerns, no validation. I had a half a dozen questions prepared for our appt, but I felt as if we were a bother to her. So I just held back on asking. Overall just a terrible experience. While the midwife was kind, my experience here was more than a let down. I don't have insurance and asked ahead of time what my coat of visit breakdown would be when setting the appointment. It added up to just over $400 when I got that info. Fast forward to the actual appointment. The testing requested by the midwife that is STANDARD and the Pap smear performed added up to over $400 in undisclosed fees. These included an HIV test, and testing for Syphilis and Gonorrhea ($170 of the fees). I declined these tests and informed them I would get them for free elsewhere. I was discouraged from doing these free tests (if it's urgent why would you discourage it?) and encouraged to apply for state insurance then Come back and get the test through them. Seems the only reason why is so they can make the money on the testing. It's clear this place doesn't care about patients, only making money and I would discourage anyone from going here. I just got another $18 bill from them, after I paid in full at time of visit. Will be paying and telling everyone I know about their shady billing practices. read more

I've been a patient with them for 4 years+ The doctors are great but the front desk staff unfortunately takes away from that experience as you have to see the SAME staff every time you visit (your whole pregnancy). They don't set realistic time expectations, they are petty and catty. Don't bother them, they're busy talking amongst themselves about you in the back. read more

My doctor was Anne Lee at Camelback and she had some of the worst bedside manner. This is my first pregnancy so I have enough nerves as is. She called with my lab results bluntly saying that my pregnancy is not viable and I should come in to discuss procedures and medication to take care of it. There was no evidence of complications present. The fact is I am just very early in my pregnancy that is why nothing was showing up. When doing the transvaginal ultrasound, she needed another doctor to help which is okay but I was not talked to about what they were seeing/looking for. She did not seem confident or even competent. My anxiety was through the roof the entire time because I got no answers. I went to another OB for a second opinion and they said that baby is growing strong, healthy, and right on track. read more

I highly recommend Michelle Davis as a practitioner! I had a tall order to fill, but she checked every box and really came through from prenatal care to delivery! I met with quite a few midwives and Michelle was by far and away the most knowledgeable and exactly what I was seeking. She successfully synthesizes a natural approach that integrates modern medicine. During my pregnancy, we discussed and used a chiropractor (Webster technique), spinning babies, hypnobirth, teas, and supplements. I was always given options and thorough explanations so I could make the best choice for my body. Michelle's bedside manner was exceptional, she was kind, but direct. I never left her feeling uneasy, I always had facts, a plan, and a strong understanding of what was next when I left my appt. I was anxious through the first 2 trimesters of my pregnancy and Michelle went above and beyond to ease my anxiety. This made such a difference for me and both my physical and mental health. I was never a number to her, she adjusted to me, if I was anxious, she talked through my fears, if I came in with a list of questions, she sat and answered all of them until I understood (and she never rushed me!). Plus when delivery came she knew me as a whole and had a labor, delivery, and postpartum plan that was tailored to me. Since her background was as a labor and delivery nurse, the staff at the hospital knew her very well and it was clear that she was well respected by all of the doctors and nurses at the hospital. She also understood my husband's wishes very well, which is impressive because due to Covid she only met him once before labor. My labor was taking a long time and she could sense my husband was concerned, knowing he needed reassurance, Michelle asked a doctor to weigh in on her plan and my progress. The doctor clearly knew she had a handle on things and quickly agreed that her plan was solid. I will continue seeing Michelle for my wellness exams and future pregnancies. I strongly recommend you do too! read more

I wish that I could give this place zero stars. I have no idea where to even start with this review. First off, DON'T GO HERE!!! Run away! Rude front desk staff, ridiculous waiting time which makes you question why you even set an appt in the first place, and some of the doctors here are beyond rude and unprofessional. The dr who delivered my son was the only one in the building we felt comfortable with, and she was actually kind. But it was not enough for us to ever return. First thing you see when you walk in are the women sitting at the front desk, most who don't smile and are beyond rude. Check in, and wait for at least an hour because all the doctors are some how running behind every single time you come in for an appt. Next, some of these doctors were beyond unprofessional. One woman in particular really made us uncomfortable, we asked to not see her again at any of my appointments. (This request was not honored by the way). I was accused of smoking pot several times in one visit by this woman because I was wearing a Bob Marley t shirt. She also , very loudly, announced personal health problems I was having during my pregnancy loud for all to hear, and left me in tears more than one visit. Lastly, at least that I care to write about, is their god awful billing system. Or shall I say the lack there of. They don't bill insurance! They write you a letter saying you made payments and that's about it. My son is almost a year old and I am STILL getting phone calls and letters about balances that my insurance WOULD have covered if they would have been billed. Ladies, save yourself time and energy, do not go to this place. WORST OBGYN EVER. read more

As most the comments mention, front desk people are unhelpful and rude to say the least. Upon getting to go back, it does improve a bit. Phlebotomists are always very nice. This is definitely a place to go to if you want a doctor to make you feel like an idiot and like you know nothing about your own body though. Was told 10 day periods accompanied with wretched back pain and cramps are normal and "yep, sounds like a period" followed by the doctor laughing out loud. Also they NEVER send my BC script to my pharmacy. It's a full day of me having to call the pharmacy, them, my insurance, then the pharmacy again to get my fill. I have been coming here since I was in high school (15 years). Only 1 provider recognizes me after 2 babies, which is very impersonal to me. They don't seem to care about patients only about collecting payments. They made me pay them for delivery in 2020. The baby came in 2019 and now they owe me money for what I've paid since I met my deductible for 2019. When I called to get status of my $1700 check, they said their check software was down and they didn't know. Basically they are sitting on my cash. If you live in Phoenix and want a wonderful midwife, Michelle Davis at MOGA is truly AMAZING!!! This was my first pregnancy and I was terrified. Michelle really put me at ease and answered all my questions and more. She became my family during my pregnancy and now postpartum. At every appointment she took her time with me and made me feel so important. I wasn't sure if I wanted a natural birth or not, and Michelle stood by all my decisions and never made me feel insecure over my choices. I never used my birth plan, as Michelle remembered everything we discussed and thank goodness she did because I was in too much pain to recall everything I wanted. I had a wonderful birth and all my fears were squashed. I will be forever thankful for Michelle and with will be going to her for my next pregnancy! . read more

I started coming here 2 years ago after my aunt suggested I do and to see Celeste Pottorff. I've only been twice for annuals, but both my experiences have been pleasant. I really like Dr. Pottorff. She has a very welcoming and comforting air about her. My past lady doctors (not here) have always been rude and made me feel like I was stupid for asking questions. Dr. Pottorff has always made me feel comfortable, which is a relief for me since I've had bad experiences in the past at other places! The wait times were not bad for me either! read more

This is my first pregnancy so was cautious about where to go for appointments. I saw that dr pottorff had a fairly good review and she was practicing here. My first appointment was very smooth. The nurse practitioner I met with was super sweet and answered all the questions. My second visit has been pleasant as well. Everyone working here seemed to be nice and works with you to answer any questions you may have. I can't compare to any other OBGYN since I haven't had prenatal appointments before. read more

I switched to maricopa OBGYN super late in my third trimester to see a midwife. Both Kim and Emily made me feel super comfortable and glad I made the decision to leave my previous office for them. They were very informative and really made me enjoy the pregnancy, not treat me like just another patient number and insurance claim. I had to wait a bit before appointments but that's just a given in any medical office, especially one that delivers babies. I ended up delivering with Kim and it was the best birthing experience I could have wished for. She was super patient and explained things to me in a way that I could grasp even when I was in labor mode. read more

One of the absolute best experiences I have ever had in all my years of going to a Gyno office or any doctor's office for that matter. I was called in like a minute or two after my scheduled time. Which was a nice surprise since I had to wait like 2 months to get an initial appointment with a FEMALE doctor. To clarify, I would have had an earlier appt. had I agreed to a male doctor (which is a no-no for me) or N.P. The front desk lady was nice and was suprised that the office was on YELP. The back office staff were friendly and smiling. The medical assistant was very friendly and with a great sense of humor. And above all, I fell in love (in a straight way) with Dr. Celeste Pottorff. I am a people person and I love kind people. She is beautiful with the cutest dimples and perfect bedside manner. She listened intently to my issues and explained possible future actions with the most compassion, empathy and respect I've ever encountered. She provided a comical distraction while performing the cringeworthy exam we all hate to deal with (that darn cold, rigid speculum thingy). I highly recommend her to anyone searching for the whole experience. So to reiterate, it was an overall positive experience: * great covered parking garage * Convenient location * friendly staff * nice large waiting room * short wait times * Dr. Pottorff is awesome! Con: * Takes a long time to get an appointment for a female doctor. * This isn't really a con because in all fairness, they are not naturopathics but I prefer homeopathic treatment and nutrition versus prescriptions which only take care of symptoms versus treating the whole person so I like to receive advice in that vein. Thus, 4 stars vs 5. UPDATE 6/11/13 Had another appointment today. The tech was professional and had a great sense of humor. Got called in 3 minutes after my appt. No waiting. I witnessed an unprofessional exchange between a couple of staff members regarding another patient which I found very insensitive and uncool in a place housing such sensitive information but other than that, this office is a winner! read more

I've been to two other GYNs in the past year and just didn't feel comfortable with either. My normal GYN (10+ yrs) had made some serious medical errors with my friend and it was more than enough to cause me to look elsewhere. After finding Maricopa OBGYN on Yelp, I called to schedule a new patient appt. It was difficult to get in immediately since I wasn't pregnant or having any medical issues - just a pre-natal consult. I asked for their best OBGYN, and the admin was confidently unbiased. She sounded like she truly felt all of their doctors are great! I was put on the waitlist. I was concerned with appointment availability if a serious issue was presenting itself, but was quickly relieved when the scheduler said that if it was something requiring attention or related to pregnancy, that they would get me in right away. Because my appointment wasn't related to an immediate need, I accepted the waitlist option and they called after only a few days with an opening. From first call to appointment date was about 1 week. I met with Dr Mayer for the first time today. She is wonderful, personable and takes the time to make sure all questions are answered. I felt extremely comfortable with her. I felt like she really cared about my questions and immediately felt a sense of trust with her. I highly recommend her.
