I've been to two other GYNs in the past year and just didn't feel comfortable with either. My normal GYN (10+ yrs) had made some serious medical errors with my friend and it was more than enough to cause me to look elsewhere. After finding Maricopa OBGYN on Yelp, I called to schedule a new patient appt. It was difficult to get in immediately since I wasn't pregnant or having any medical issues - just a pre-natal consult. I asked for their best OBGYN, and the admin was confidently unbiased. She sounded like she truly felt all of their doctors are great! I was put on the waitlist. I was concerned with appointment availability if a serious issue was presenting itself, but was quickly relieved when the scheduler said that if it was something requiring attention or related to pregnancy, that they would get me in right away. Because my appointment wasn't related to an immediate need, I accepted the waitlist option and they called after only a few days with an opening. From first call to appointment date was about 1 week. I met with Dr Mayer for the first time today. She is wonderful, personable and takes the time to make sure all questions are answered. I felt extremely comfortable with her. I felt like she really cared about my questions and immediately felt a sense of trust with her. I highly recommend her. First off, my insurance is through Banner so my selection of providers is limited. I have a bias towards midwives because they tend to be more nurturing and take a women's preferences into account versus just telling us what to do. I know doctors are very educated and do this for years but my first answer isn't using medical intervention unless absolutely necessary. I have a baby due in July and this place has a midwife. As a note, they do rotate which providers you meet (if you prefer) just because there's different providers who are on call when you go into labor - this gives an opportunity to work with whoever may be on call versus meeting a total stranger. I'm not sure why people complain about the wait times. I've never had to wait and am seen in the office within minutes. Both the midwife and provider I've met are super friendly and attentive. Their ultrasound tech is very friendly and makes you feel like you're important and your little bean is cute, even though she does this all day long. I chose this place specifically because there's a midwife... sadly there's only one and I want a midwife when I go into labor and she may not be on call. The midwife assured that the practice is actively recruiting more midwives and plans to have at least 3 more in the practice by May, so my fingers are crossed. It's so comforting to have a provider who is there, with a more natural approach, yet in the safety of a hospital where there are doctors should they be needed. read more

Not the best looking (a bit dingy and run down), pretty slow (I've never once been seen within 20 minutes after my appointment time) but everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. I started going here because I had accchs and they had the best ratings from the locations that accepted my insurance. I now have private insurance and continue to go and unless I have a bad customer service experience, will continue to go. read more

After being frustrated with seeing other doctors and their lack of professionalism. I decided to Google best ob/gun doctor in az and this group came up. Appointments are a bit far, so don't expect something the next day or week. However, when I was finally seen, I was completely happy, they're all so caring and professional, from the receptionist to the nurses, the assistants but above all the doctor. I've seen dr. Mayer and dr. Jackson and they both listened to my problems and concerns and best of all I dont feel like I'm being manipulated into being a guinea pig, I feel genuinely cared for.. I'm very happy with this group and don't think I will ever see another group. Btw...I felt I'll and called and they got me a same day appointment. So I think it depends on the situation. read more

Being new to the area I needed a new provider for my well woman exams. I was very nervous switching gynegolocits after being with the same doctor for 13 years. Dr. Jackson and his staff were very professional. I did not have to wait in the lobby more than 15 minutes and once in the back I did not have to wait in the exam room at all for the doctor. Dr Jackson answered all of my questions and really listened to me. I did not feel rushed at anytime during my appointment. My results were provided telephonically within 3-5 days and they even gave me access to a portal to view my results at a later date if I should wish. Overall experience was great! read more

The Phoenix location is so great and the staff is wonderful! It's an attractive and relaxing practice and everyone is very kind. I felt welcomed right away when I started coming to Maricopa OBGYN. I moved to Phoenix halfway through my pregnancy and was nervous about transitioning my care someplace new, but everyone was very understanding and accommodating. They put all my concerns at ease throughout the pregnancy and never made me feel like my questions or worries were silly. I would recommend Dr. Mercer to anyone. She is very kind and empathetic. I felt comfortable with her from the very beginning. She always remembered what we had talked about before, even if it was something about my personal life and not medical. She spoke to me like an equal, which helped make me feel very relaxed with her. She ended up being the doctor who delivered my baby (which I had really been hoping for!) and was so great. Even when there were complications, she helped me stay calm and I felt confident that we were being well cared for. I thank her so much for that! read more

I had an 9am appointment on 5/6/19, the front desk staff was very friendly! But I had to explain my situation too many times To three different people. Then, they didn't run any test to confirm my situation. The asked for a urine sample and when I went to give a urine Sample the women who were working the lab were rude, they didn't greet me or tell me what to do. This was my FIRST and LAST time here, I will be taking my services elsewhere because I felt like they didn't care and left there feeling worse about my situation than I came there feeling. read more

The previous OBGYN I saw was the doctor who actually delivered me; so, nothing was really going to compare to that. Celeste is a wonderful doctor, and her nurse practitioner was very kind. The only reason I am giving this a 3/5 is because their front desk sucks. I scheduled my appointment on the phone, and when I got there, they wrote down my name and insurance wrong.. the insurance was a huge concern, because what if they didn't consider it in-network, and I have to pay out of pocket after the fact? Seeing this type of doctor can be a thrilling or scary thing, so make sure your front desk are cheery. After all, they are the first impression of your business. read more

I used the MOGA Ahwatukee office for both of my pregnancies. The staff was always respectful and kind. Both deliveries had complications (Pre-term birth and Preeclampsia, respectively) and I felt very comfortable with the physician's expertise and care. Dr. Celeste Pottorff is one of the best doctors I have ever had. She delivered my second baby and I wish, SO WISH, she had been there to deliver my first. She is the perfect OB. Perfect, perfect, perfect. Kind, compassionate, knowledgeable. The whole package when it comes to a physician. In the office I also really liked Laura Rutledge, NP. Also, very knowledgeable, kind, with a calming presence. A visit to the OB-GYN is never a "fun" experience, per se. The staff at the MOGA Ahwatukee office make it as pleasant as it can be. I went to this clinic to get a nexplanon and Lisa the NP that I saw inserted it in my left arm. After having it in for 3 months I decided to take it out because I noticed a drastic change in my mood and I was always on my period. i know diff birth controls affect people differently and I can say this one was by far the worst one for me. When I went back to follow up with the NP she told me that it shouldn't have affected my mood because it barely has any hormones in it.. PFFT! Yeah right! It wouldn't be stated on their website if I was the only one feeling this way... I mentioned to her that it's stated on their website that it causes mood changes but again she said that it shouldn't have changed due to a small amount of hormones..also on top of that my birth control wasn't in the same place where she had put it and shifted downward! She then puts the blame on me saying it's cause I was playing with it as she's chomping on her gum.. Haha how do you know if I played with it? Were you with me 24/7? I then asked if it's cause I work out and she said that's a possibility.. but then I realized after I asked her that a lot of females who have this in works out but never run into this issue.. anyway she didn't feel comfortable taking it out so she called another NP into my room... both of them were trying to find my birth control but couldn't after an hour of searching.. finally the NP told me to schedule an appt with one of their Drs to get it removed. I ended up seeing Dr Jackson over the weekend and he also couldn't find my birth control and had to make a bigger incision so that way he had some room to work with. The Dr was super apologetic and told me he would talk to his friends and would call the manufacturer for the bc to see what their protocols were for my rare case.. since I saw him during the wkend I knew it was going to take a couple of days to hear back from him. I went out of town the next day and he was very quick to calling me back because my incision started to leak blood for a whole day then it turned into an infection. He also updated me on what was going to happen next. I ended up having to see a surgeon at Banner University a wk later and he used an ultrasound to help him locate my bc and was able to take my bc out that way.. I'm giving them 2 stars as opposed to one because the Dr here was super apologetic and the staff members were very nice. I mean don't get me wrong, Lisa was very nice but I'm giving this place a low rating because I didn't like how she put the blame on me. For all I know my body could've rejected it which made it shift downwards or she could've inserted it incorrectly. I also didn't like how I had to waste so much of my time and waste gas to drive to the office and also to the store to get supplies for my incision.. read more

Michelle Davis is the best midwife around! You will have the best birth experience if you let her take care of you. I have been a MOGA patient for about 6 years and have always been seen by one of the doctor's, even when I got pregnant. When I was in the hospital to deliver my baby I was being treated for high blood pressure and was undergoing a very long induction, all while trying to have a pain medication free birth. Michelle was not scheduled to participate in my birth but ended up showing up to assist the doctor and she was truly a miracle worker! She was devoted to my goal of going epidural free and took charge of my labor to help me reach that goal. She taught my hubby how to massage me during contractions, she applied essentials oils, she got me into the shower and when it came time to push she coached me! She made me feel like I was the lot important patient in the word and helped me reach my goal. Her aftercare was spectacular as well. She helped with lactation, diet recommendations and blood pressure management. She's always on call for her patients and still takes my texts when I need her even though I'm no longer a post partum patient. YOU NEED MICHELLE!!!!! read more

This is NOT a reflection on Dr. Pottorff, she is excellent. I was told today that I am "not essential" being a man that wants to be there for an ultrasound, while there are thousands in the street protesting I cannot do anything to be there for this ultrasound, not wear a mask, not get tested, not take my temp. They said there is nothing they can do. I don't want to view this life changing moment through a 3X5" screen. read more

The doctors and staff here are amazing but if you are getting anything done here make sure you ask them in as many ways as possible how much you will be believe because they will tell you an amount and then for months afterwards you will continue to get bills upon bills upon bills that they will claim they told you about up front. read more

I've been going to the office for about two years. Every time I've gone in for my appointments...the service never stood out. It was just another dr. appt to me. When I went in for my annual wellness exam this past week, I overly impressed. I had been seen my Mary F. the nurse practitioner and she was so thoughful and helpful in speaking to me about my overall health. She not only talked to me about my "woman parts" but she also gave me a regimen for my acne which is always a touchy subject. She also noticed a few skin conditions on my stomach that every other doctor or dermatologist ignored for the past year. It was more of a breath of fresh air that she noticed, listened, and payed attention, and that's what made my experience so positive. read more

Maybe you have to get a dr here instead of a NP but I've seen the same NP two years in a row and was never given a different different option when booking an appointment. Or maybe they're only great as an OB and not GYN. Whatever the case may be, I went in to both annual exams with many concerns and left feeling dismissed and more confused. First off, I am college educated, married, no children and not planning any pregnancies any time soon. So here's the reason for the two stars: 1. First appointment I went in with questions about some side effects I was having with the pill. Without getting into private specifics, I was pretty desperate for some answers. Her response was, "well, that's the pill. there are sooooo many other benefits, don't you like having nice skin?" I was dismissed and no alternatives were discussed. 2. A year later, still having the same issue. Did a lot of research during that year and even went off the pill for a few months. Felt 100% relief from my previous issue being off the pill. Told the NP that I wanted a non-hormonal birth control method. She was extremely hesitant and said there really isn't anything that I would like. I brought up IUDs and she said they're not good for women who have never had children and make you painfully bleed all the time, both statements that contradict the research I had done. Overall, my concerns were completely dismissed and I left feeling devalued as a patient wanting more options and control over her reproductive health. I'm going to go to Planned Parenthood now because they offer a more well rounded and patient-empowering approach. read more

This location of Maricopa OBGYN called my cell phone for 2 WEEKS day and night, trying to send a fax to a cell phone. Brilliant though medical front office personnel are, they couldn't bother to call the number they were trying to fax and see if it was actually a fax machine. I called and left a voicemail, after at least 100 calls from their fax machine, and the faxes still continued to come. Delightfully, they dropped me as a patient because I was done getting fax machine calls. Considering they can't send a fax properly, perhaps this is in my best interest. Thanks Maricopa OBGYN! I was a patient over six years ago I called to make an appointment only to find out that I apparently owe them money. I never received a bill and after 6 years the debt is considered expired in the state of Arizona. If they would of sent me a bill six years ago I would of payed it. So' because they made a mistake they refuse to let me make an appiontment. If the doctors really cared about there patience they wouldn't make the patient pay for there mistake, they also wouldn't refuse to see someone based on this alone. So if there office staff makes a mistake they won't let you make an appointment. To them money is more important than people we are just another number to a real person based on there policy alone. read more

I enjoy going to this clinic. The staff here are great and their always nice :) yeah you have to wait sometimes but things happen. Its a doctors office what do you expect? But more importantly my midwife Michelle is amazing! We we're so grateful and happy we had her. She made me feel so comfortable and was always there when i had any questions at any time! My experience with midwife Michelle Davis was wonderful! I switched to MOGA at 31 weeks into term. Michelle made me feel so comfortable from the moment I met her. Her confidence, knowledge, and experience in labor and delivery is exceptional to say the least. Michelle was 100% dedicated to ensuring my labor plan went as close as nature allowed to my wishes. In the delivery room when I felt I could no longer go through another contraction, Michelle took control and made me focus and breath and I got through it with her by my side coaching and encouraging me. I would definitely recommend Michelle and will be using her in the future if I am blessed with another pregancy. read more

For my first visit I was not that impressed. I didn't like that they draw blood right in-front of the the restroom (don't wanna see that). Also, the room they put me in was so small and the person that took down my information was very cold and made me go and pick up my own cup for pregnancy test (very unprofessional). Due to the room was so small there was no room to put my clothes when ready for exam. The nurse practitioner had a person by her side, and that was very uncomfortable having two people exam me for first visit. After my exam I felt they couldn't or had time answer questions that I had, and I left the office Google my questions. read more

I have had four different midwives for my four babies. Michelle Davis is hands down the BEST Midwife out of them all! She was kind, caring and attentive. She answered all my questions, really listened to my concerns, never made me feel dumb or unheard and was never rushed during appointments. She listened to my birth plan and was completely supportive of everything I wanted. She was accessible to me whenever I needed her. She treated me like family! During labor she went above and beyond to make sure my baby and I were taken care of and my birth plan was respected! She was most knowledgeable, helped me with positions to manage my pain naturally, she stayed with me the entire labor and encouragingly coach me through it all! I could not imagine my birth without her! I 100% recommend her!! read more

I highly recommend Michelle Davis with MOGA. She is nothing short of amazing- from our very first appointment she made me and my husband feel comfortable, confident, and eased our minds. Throughout the pregnancy she took her time during my appointments, listened to and acknowledged my fears, developed a relationship with me, and was very available to answer any questions/concerns that arose. The day I gave birth she was everything I needed- excited for me, calming, by our side the entire (very short) labor, provided essential oils, touch, words of encouragement, lightened the mood with her humor, made me feel special, and above all helped us bring our daughter into this world safely and exactly the way I was hoping. I just switched OB offices and it was the best switch ever! I'm on my 4th little one and Mary (Nurse Practitioner) was great!! Old doc told me I had no chance of a VBAC and Mary said otherwise- which was music to my ears, however I do know emergencies may happen. The doctors and NP were so thorough with me at every visit, as a new time mom back then I was unsure of which questions I should be asking and they seemed to cover all basis including vaccines for parents prior to the babies arrival, what to expect during delivery and post birth control options. I am saddened that my AMAZING midwife had to leave this practice 5/17 because she was not able to provide care as she felt it should be given. I felt so lucky to find such a caring wonderful practitioner to see me through my VBAC at age 39. I chose a midwife because I wanted the care and holistic integration that midwifery brings. I also knew that the birth process would be more in line with what I wanted for my attempt at VBAC. This is the only reason I sought out Maricopa OB-GYN, and I am sad to see the regression in midwifery care within this particular OB-GYN group. Just another reason to seek midwives out no matter how far and no matter the inconvenience if that is your desire. As a former NICU nurse who worked many years with my share of OB's, it is a rare thing indeed to come across one who's passion lies in the care and ultimate guidance through a healthy birth process that does NOT come down to the bottom line, dinner reservations, and ultimately trying to control a process that is not meant to be placed on a time table. I hope to see this midwifery group grow in the future as an adjunct choice of care for women not dictated by how many patients they see in a given day. At 30 weeks along, I am now having to seek out new care. read more

Never again - wait endlessly long hours for a doctor when you have an appt year after year - total waste of time docs nothing special

As a new patient I had an overall excellent experience. Front office staff was engaging and thorough with documentation. Doctor had a good rapport with husband and children in waiting room waiting for Mom's recovery from a procedure. When called, I was greeted by "Welcome Gorgeous!" by Stacee. I was surprised and yet delighted because she sounded so sincere. I told my NP, CeCe Heys, that if every patient is not greeted that way, they should be! I generally would not appreciate that kind of attention but again, it just felt so welcoming and the rest of the visit was just as comfortable...well as comfortable as an OB/GYN appt can be anyway! Went here after I was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst for evaluation of removal possibilities. Dr who performed my surgery left me in more pain then when I came to her in & for six months after refused to do any further testing. A second surgery later revealed her shabby work and leftover endometriosis growths that couldn't have grown in the amount of time between surgeries. I also have nerve damage from her glorious work. read more

MINDY from fmla department is so rude, just because i missed one month of not going to my appointment she didnt wanna fill out my forms, when my due date to turn in my forms was today 09/12/2018, i had an appt scheduled and they still call me to cancel my appt knowing i had to pick up my forms and i had told them on the day i left my forms. When i call Mindy and i inform her i understand i missed one month of my appt, she still had the nerve to laugh and said thats not her responsibility. Which i know thats not her fault, instead of making things better she was just so rude and not caring about my job status. She made it seem i missed all my blood test and all my ultrasounds. still has the nerve to say they dont have no Obgyn care for me. She is so unprofessional, and all she did just laugh and not even try to fit me in on the scheduled and get my forms done. Im so upset about this place. I have gone to Dr. Urig for 19 years. He is absolutely fantastic!! I moved out to Surprise years ago and I will still make an 80 mile round trip to see him. He is that good. I needed to get in for a follow up appt and he wasn't immediately available, so I made an appt with Dr. Jackson (who I have never seen before). Dr. Jackson was running late and I wasn't initially pleased about it. When I was finally called back, it was by Stacee (who I have never met before). She was amazing! She talked with me, got all the background information on why I was there (from me and not just my file). She was positive, upbeat and took the time to provide an excellent patient interaction with me. I was beyond impressed. When I met with Dr. Jackson, I understood why he was running behind. What a patient, thorough doctor. He sat with me, talked with me, explained things to me. He never rushed, even though I'm sure he knew he had patients waiting. I now understand why they were running behind schedule. When you are with them, they focus fully on you and why you are there. I, for one, am thankful for the thoroughness that they both provided to me. I actually left there feeling bad that I wasn't as understanding to their profession as they were to me. If you ever have a wait, understand that they are providing the best care that you can get to each and every patient. Kudos to The staff at MOGA!!! read more
