Baffled by the fantastic reviews. Have these people never tasted delicious Mexican food? I've…read moreeaten a LOT since childhood and this isn't it. You have to have your standards (rice and beans) on lock. Tasteless rice, beans that tasted too greasy (I suspect bacon). And the salsa was underwhelming. They gave us some roasted stuff that barely had flavor and not the green kind I saw in some other reviews. I got the pork green chile and it had a TON of flavor, but was slightly too salty. Eaten with the beans and rice, it kind of balanced out, but I didn't like the smoky flavor of the beans. My partner's steak tacos were DELICIOUS, I will say. The best bite I had, and the pico de gallo on top was a delight. I wish I'd been given that to dip chips in. It was still a shame that these wonderful tacos were accompanied by the same beans and rice that mine had. Portions were not generous for the price. The ambiance was decent. The bar looked cool. The prickly pear marg on special was good, but in a tall pint beer glass instead of a margarita glass. A little too sweet for my taste. My boyfriend got a Mexican-style beer and it was good enough, nothing to write home about. Service was okay. I would have liked to have been provided both kinds of salsa or at least offered the option of another kind. He didn't refill the chips and salsa, and we had to ask for more salsa. I did like that they provided Crayola brand crayons for kids! Most places cheap out there. We had a great time decorating the burro coloring sheet. Bottom line: If you want great Mexican food, pass on this place. If you want to drink mezcal, DEFINITELY stop here.

I would recommend offering a spicier option to those who like spice. I was craving a tamale, so I got a combo meal with rice & beans. The tamale was good, the enchilada was okay, but if we're ever back in Hot Springs, I'll be getting what my husband got (the Jalapenos Fajitas - steak, chicken & chorizo fajitas). Soooo spicy & flavorful. We also each got a frozen margarita - mango and lime, which were yummy. Sorry - I always forget to take pix before I eat & drink half of it. :) Great choice if you're craving good Mexican food.

Popular place with a wide variety of choices for dinner--friendly and attentive service (if you…read moredon't see your server, ask another--they clearly work well as a team) and interesting decor. Starter and food, drinks, etc., are brought promptly to the table. This is exceptional in a highly popular tourist area. The food is good but could use a little improvement--the grilled mahi-mahi was good, but a little on the dry sauce and definitely needed a sauce. A couple of the dishes did have sauces, but fish is why most Creole restaurants like Brennan's will serve a sauce on the side, or a topping with butter such as Trout Almandine. It doesn't have to be a fancy sauce--the option of good ol' tartar sauce works. The grilled vegetables also needed a little more butter and seasoning. Carrots are good on their own; broccoli and cauliflower need a little cheese or butter and some seasoning to be loved. The IPA (Long John) was excellent. The beer cheese dip and soft pretzels were to die for; the chardonnay was passable. A great choice for dining in a VERY heavily traveled tourist destination. Get there early--it starts filling up fast and all the restaurants around Mount Rushmore close at 9.

When I first walked in I looked at their merch and was very disappointed with their hats. Plenty of shirts and a very cool metal sign of their logo. Service was fine. We intended to eat dinner at one of their restaurants but after reviewing the menu and reviews, decided to head somewhere else as this place was a bit of a disappointment.
