My husband and I stopped at Mariano's on a Saturday night to pick up some essentials. We needed some apples and bananas. We were able to get what we needed and check out fast. We used the self-service kiosk. I was impressed with the selection they had. I highly recommend Mariano's.

Definitely enjoy visiting this location; I frequent this one the most and have no issues navigating the isles. They always have the freshest produce, and meats and the prettiest floral selections. I also love when I am on time for the free samples, you never know when they will be out, but I love when I catch them.

I like the sushi here when I'm in a hurry and need a snack, it's made right in front of you, so I always get it fresh! Sometimes they make custom orders, but all the sushi is time stamped, and I stick to the basics. these grocery stores are very clean but I wish the staff was more available & nicer in helping me find things. *also, white rice can be switched out for brown rice - when I'm in the mood that rice is nice; it's firmer, but still tasty.

After doing a little holiday shopping, I stopped for a bit of quick grocery shopping. I figured why not round out my shopping day with more shopping?! This Mariano's location is situated near a great shopping neighborhood. Just north and south of North Avenue, small and large stores are in abundance. You can shop for fun things and groceries too. Validated complimentary parking is easily available. The supermarket has two floors so if you park on the second floor and check out on that level, you can walk right out to your car. Otherwise there is a quick elevator in the parking garage. I found this supermarket to be well stocked. Many holiday items were in abundance. The bakery and floral departments were festive and giving off the holiday spirit. Prices here seem very fair. There are always deals in many departments. You'll see sale signs everywhere. The wine and liquor department is filled with so many options. They maintain the produce department and keep it looking fresh and fabulous. There was a small wait at checkout, but everyone was masked up and socially distanced. The young girl that assisted me was super nice and efficient. I felt like I was able to park, shop and get home quickly. My overall experience was positive. I appreciate easy parking, a clean and well stocked store, great prices and pleasant staff.

This is one of the better Mariano's that I have been too. It has 2 floors. The hot bar and other specialty foods are on the first floor. The grocery store is on the 2nd floor. The parking is horrendous. Even though there is a parking lot is it so crowded. And the spaces are very tight. The parking garage is shared by other businesses in the building. The parking is 2 hrs free when validated. During the week for lunch the parking is free. Not sure how that works. This one seems larger than the south loop or the west loop locations. Although I like it, I would rather park on the street.

Sometimes when I'm trying to find "international" ingredients at Mariano's or something it's hit or miss. I found what I needed here and it was a fairly quick trip--I don't think I was in store more than 20 minutes. The store is small, and very very crowded. Aisles are about as wide as a single person facing forward. This isn't a place where you're going to get a shopping cart down an aisle. The prices are good. I got a head of Napa cabbage for 99 cents per pound, and when I go to my neighborhood store it's usually closer to $3-4 or more per pound. Since it was such a steal I added hot and sour soup to my menu for the week. There's a parking lot at this store. It's one way, and you must enter from Archer. DO NOT enter the wrong way or you won't be able to park--the spaces are angled and there's not enough space between the building and the fencing to turn yourself around. There are only about ten parking spaces here so I'm sure it gets filled pretty quick, but when I was here I was the only car parked here. There's street parking which can be pretty chancy, but maybe I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who was here on a busy Sunday in Chinatown.

A line for grocery store fried chicken? Absolute cinema. People have been recommending I get into fried chicken reviews, and I've resisted as I really don't want to get fat, but this was the perfect storm to start a grocery store fried chicken review journey. I got to the front in the line and felt like a fish out of water. I sheepishly asked the employees, Darius R and Damariea J, what the move was as it was my first time getting fried chicken from here. I thought they'd be annoyed, but they were so helpful and welcoming. "Today is actually wing bucket Friday! A whole bucket is normally $17.99 but today it's $9.99. I can give you some of everything so you can try, but the spicy wings are my favorite." Hell yeah. Darius was the MAN. I took my tissi and wing bucket to the UIC campus for consumption. The tissi was a brick and landed at a 6/10, which currently ranks it 71st out of 94 grocery store birds I've tried, but the fried chicken was INSANE. Darius wasn't lying, the spicy wings were next level. The best grocery store chicken I've ever had. Boomin the Publix fried chicken. Shoutout to the Darius' and Damariea's of the world. Good people. As always, I am looking for new fantastic restaurants, and stores to try out, and share with: family, friends, and on Yelp. As you walk in it seems like a common corner store, groceries in the front, meat towards the rear. When I walked to the back I had a pretty good hunch this would be a great one. The fresh smell, it was very clean, and the amazing eye catching signage. You could feel like you just walked into in a sweet little store in Mexico. When they handed me the food I ordered I knew was on the right track. When I took my first bites I smiled, and knew, I needed to share this place. I was intrigued by the Pozole Verde sign out front. I had never had it before, so I placed my order for that and zero regrets. It comes out in a quart container with a plastic wrapped foam tray with: chopped onions, cilantro, radish, shredded cabbage, and mexican oregano. I added mostly everything but went easy on the oregano. The chunks of chicken were tender and not overcooked. The hominy and vegetables were just right as well. They have this to a science and it has to be near perfect. Now to the tacos: As you often see in neighborhood grocery stores the chorizo was hanging in back above the meat counter, so a house made chorizo taco was a given. The Al Pastor was reccomend by the one of the butchers, and I had a steak taco to round it, and myself, out. All I can say is that like the pozole everything was superb. Even the salsas.. I wish I knew of this place when I worked and lived in the area. I would definitely have known everyone there by name. I still smile thinking of it, and next time I'm in that hood, I will be there. I look forward to trying out a few more menu items, and picking up some of the fresh meat. So maybe don't slap Grandma... but you should at least pick her up and take her out to lunch here. Enjoy! #AlfieEats
