This place has been around for close to 30 years and I made my first visit tonight...why did I wait so long? When you walk in the decor isn't thst of your typical Mexican restaurant and the ambiance is very casual. The menu is pretty standard as in not too big, not too small. The chips are unsalted and served with a red (hot) salsa and a green salsa (tomatillo) chocked full of cilantro and onions. I ordered the pollo con mole & my wife ordered the taco especial (your choice of meat topped with cheese, lettuce, & tomato). The flavor of both were great. Portions are a good size and the prices are strandard. Service was excellent. There are a ton of Mexican places in Columbus, but this is going to end up as one of my favorites. read more

Wow!!!! Give this place a try! We loved: authentic tortillas, flavorful beans and rice, huevos rancheros. Star of the show: taco al pastor, which had wonderful spices and was perfectly balanced; plus the Chile relleno which was not too spicy but actually had a fresh pepper, cooked al dente instead of a canned pepperclike you often get. Delicious! The chips and ceviche were good but nothing to write home about. All in all, between good prices (tacos are less than $2 each) and friendly service, five stars! read more

Sadly, I had high Hope's, we try to support local places since we live in Forest Park. Got seated and got drinks and that was it. Waiter and waitress keep walking by ignoring us when they were not even busy. Finally got up and asked for the check for the drinks we did get,was told to forget it, since they forgot about us. I came over tonight for dinner. Its a quick trip for me; about ten minutes. It's a much larger restaurant that it appears to be from the street. And nicely decorated, but with tile floors. A little carpet would have been better. They had two waiters working today and the one who was assigned my table was quick to bring me chips and salsa. The salsa was a little on the thick side, made with peppers and tomatoes. It was hotter than mild but not disagreeablly so. For dinner I ordered their Camarones a la Diabla. That's shrimp sauted in a spicy red sauce and onions. The sauce was REALLY spicy. And the shrimp were really good. It came with rice and refried beans. The beans were mashed to a mush. I'm not crazy about them doing that but it doesn't affect the taste. The restaurant's prices are slightly lower than my current favorite but probalbly not enough to make me switch. First rate food that is served with pride and hard work. I came to this restaurant with the intent of finding some good Mexican food and was not disappointed at all. I first came in not knowing what they had to offer and I was talking to the owners son who was very helpful. He was a very personable young man who took my order and suggested items they have only during the weekend. I returned to the restaurant with other family members and they too were very pleased. The owner came to our table and had a nice pleasant conversation with us. The food is fresh and delicious. My message to those who complained about the authentic food, get back to the drive thru at a crappy corporate fast food place because clearly you have no taste buds. read more

Absolutely the authentic Mexican experience we have been looking for. Service from the staff was super friendly and attentive. We sat at the bar, ordered a Cadillac Margarita and some Modelo beers. Been driving past this place for years and finally decided to give it a try. The place is bigger inside than what you think. The menu looks good but that is the end of it. We got our drinks and waited for over 15 min for our server to come take our order bet never came back. She had stopped and the only 3 other tables that were already eating but never acknowledged us. We finally got up to leave and stopped at the bar to pay for our drinks but the server said no charge since we forgot about you. She didnt seem to care that we were leaving nor did the manager. Worst service I've ever had. I've been here twice, the last experience wasn't good but I wanted to give it a second chance. It was significantly worse. It took 15 minutes for the server to greet us and take our drinks, even though she was walking around and clearly saw us, there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant. Took another 10min to actually get the drinks. We ordered queso but she didn't bring chips with it, we waited another 10-15 minutes before I got up to find her as we needed refills and the queso was hardening. After that she blatantly ignored our table. She checked in with the other tables frequently, I can't help but point out that we were the only non-Hispanic customers there. I picked up carry out today on a whim when I spotted their sign and I was desperately headed to the near by Taco Bell because I was starving after getting out of work and had 10 mins before I had to pick up my daughter from school. Personally, from the outside I wasn't so sure what I may be getting myself into, however upon entering I felt like I was in a nice family friendly Authentic Mexi joint! The gentleman who helped me and took my order was helpful and they got my steak tacos out to me quickly. They were fantastic!!!! Here is the thing, I am officially one of the most annoying customers to have come to your restaurant. I'm doing keto, so I ask a lot of questions about what is in the food and I make a lot of modifications. Let me tell you I have never been somewhere that was so kind and supportive of my way of eating. When I said I wanted the fajitas, but without carrots, rice, beans, or tortillas (Latino blasphemy) he asked me if I was on a special diet. I told him yes and my friend mentioned that I could eat all the avocado I want. So when the food comes this waiter they called "Guero" brought me out a huge plate of guacamole to eat with my fajitas! I was shocked because most restaurants would never do something like that without charging you an arm and a leg. It seriously almost made me cry because I feel guilty sometimes of always having to change my order from what's on the menu, but this place went above and beyond to make my experience amazing. That said, the food was amazing! I will definitely be back again. I've been here a few times before keto and it was always good. This place has been here for a while and I hope it's around forever. I was disappointed in this place. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired, which in my mind is secondary if the food is good enough. In this case, the food was not. We ordered guacamole and cheese dip as an appetizer. The guacamole was OK, but very overpowered by onions. The cheese "dip" was very clearly shredded cheese that was just put in a bowl and then microwaved. There was a layer of oil on top, it was very hard to separate to get it on to a chip, and by halfway through the meal it had hardened so much that it was inedible. I'm not sure if they just ran out of their regular cheese dip and decided to use this as a substitute, or if this is just what the consider cheese dip. Either way, it was not worth $3. For the entree I had the steak fajitas. The steak was very tough and had very little flavor. In fact, pretty much the only thing that had any flavor throughout the entire meal were the onions. My girlfriend had the chicken fajitas, and her chicken at least had some flavor to it (though not much). All in all, I would not recommend Mariachi's to anyone, nor do I expect to go back there again. The service was decent, but the ambiance and food were both bland and unimaginative. read more

Second time not good at all, I was only the one in the restaurant my wait for food was 45 minutes (chicken burrito) The waitress walked by me at least 20 times never offered me chips or a drink or apologize why the food was taking so long. Stopped there for lunch with my wife today. I wasn't expecting much based on the other review but we were in that part of town and had a coupon so decided to give it a try. The place was bigger than we expected with plenty of tables and a separate bar area. The place looked clean and well lit. Chips & salsa arrived within a minute of us being seated. Service was quick and pleasant. The chips were typical corn chips but the salsa was better than most places and appeared to be freshly made. My wife can't eat any gluten so she has to avoid the flour tortilla shells. She ordered the chicken fajitas with corn tortillas. I ordered a chicken burrito. The server brought additional chips and drink refills while we waited for our food. My burrito was OK...I've had better but I've had a lot worse. My wife's fajitas however were very tasty. The prices were lower than most Mexican restaurants (we eat Mexican 2-3 times per week). In fact, we spent less than we would have at Chipotle's. We stopped primarily due to a coupon but will definitely go back. Good service, decent food, pleasant interior, low prices. read more

I love this place and have been going here since I moved to Columbus 5 years ago. The horchata is delicious and the smothered burritos remind me of growing up in Salt Lake (where smothered burritos were popular). There is a male server who is an absolute delight. Been going here since I stumbled on it when I lived near the circle in the late 90's (used to be on Morse road). The most authentic Mexican place around. I love the chips and salsa, both made fresh. I always get the steak tacos, small but very flavorful in both Mexican or American styles. Also love the steak tostada. Inexpensive and service is great. read more
