Our favorite dinner in Rome! My husband and I ventured here on our last night in the city and it was honestly the best meal we had during our stay in Rome. Reservations were incredibly easy, the decorations were beautiful and the service was great. We shared cacio e pepe, meatballs and beef strips for dinner. To finish, we had tiramisu and strawberry cheesecake - both were served in adorable mason jars.

I lived in Prati for a few months and loved this restaurant. The interior is magical! Romantic and cozy with the string lights. All the dishes were delicious and our servers were always friendly and helpful. They also spoke English well. My friend ranked this as her favorite Carciofi (artichoke) dish in Rome. This was a neighborhood favorite for me!

Excellent dining experience on our first and last day in Rome. We made a reservation here for 21:30 on a Saturday night and were happy to arrive and be seated at our reserved table, because the rest of the place was packed. There is a small outside section and an inside section which is located in a basement. You would never know you're in a basement from the way that it is decorated. The interior is so cozy and romantic. Perfect for our anniversary dinner. The menu is written in Italian (with english underneath if I remember correctly). The waiter was patient with our questions and super friendly. After being bombarded by tourists in Rome, it was nice to finally only hear people speaking Italian around us. The first time we were there, we ordered eggplant parmigiana (5/5), a pasta amatriciana (5/5 amazing!!), meatballs (5/5) and a breaded lamb dish with a side of potatoes (3/5, not our favourite). The coperto included bread and it was delicious to dip into the sauce of our appetizer and pasta. We had just gotten off a plane and didn't feel like drinking so we stuck to water. We loved our meal and were so stuffed that we couldn't get dessert. The second time we came, it was again 21:30 but on a wednesday night and we ended up being only one of two couples there. The waiter had more time to speak to us. Although she didn't really speak english and we don't really speak Italian, we were able to communicate and she was super sweet. This time we each ordered a glass of wine (7 euros each for a big glass but I would recommend just ordering a bottle which was around 20 euros). The owner brought as complementary prosecco because she remembered us from a few days earlier. This time we ordered Amatriciana (again 5/5), Carbanara (3/5. I found it a bit salty), meatballs (5/5), veal scallopini (5/5). They forgot to bring us bread but by this point, I think another piece of bread would have put our carb-o-meter into overdrive. Service was excellent and they event gave us a small bottle of olive oil as a parting gift. Again, we did not save room for dessert. Pricepoint very reasonable for the quality. This is not a tourist trap place in my opinion. Each time cost between 50-65 euros for two people who ate way more than they needed to. I would love to come back here and would recommend it to groups, to friends and to couples.

So we were finishing a Mediterranean Cruise with a group of friends from the States and one of them did some research and came up with Margot. The staff spoke a little English but the menu had descriptions in English. We got a table for 8 and were charmed by the place which is slightly below ground. They have a nice wine list, well priced with decent Italian reds. They suggested Margot's special appetizer which they could not explain due to language barrier but our waiter said he would comp it if we were not pleased. We also ordered the Parma ham with Buffalo mozzarella and it was all fabulous. We then all ordered pasta and it was great with every preparation. I also ordered meatballs and although poorly described on the menu, they were melt in your mouth delicacies. A tray of pastries with some tiramisu and some limoncello. We then met Margot to cap the night and they sent us away with some pastry for the morning and some olive oil to take home. I would give it 8 stars. Very reasonably priced. 3 bottles of wine and dinner for 8 for $375.00. Do not miss this place.

Margot was a gem of a spot! It was close to the Vatican and our air bnb. It came well recommended from our air bnb host! We started of with a bottle of wine and an Aperol spritz. It was the biggest one I had ever been served! We had the meatballs as a starter and they melted in our mouths. We got a pasta dish and veal Marsala and both were to die for. We went for the Nutella cheesecake for dessert! They have us free shots after we paid. The ambiance was amazing and the food was as well.

We ordered sea bass fillet rolled in zucchini and honey mushrooms. Fish was tender, soft, and delicious with great seasoning. We also ordered Ravioli with white truffles and it was delicious as well. Ravioli tasted like it was freshly made and it tasted great with truffles. Lastly, we got tiramisu for dessert. This tiramisu was prepared by an artist. Just by looking at the dish, it was very pretty to look at. It was presented on a beautiful plate with thin chocolate cookie on top with sugar decoration and underneath was a creamy white tiramisu. I loved this dish because it was unique dessert with great sweet flavor and great presentation. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly with great attitude and they are attentive. I think they liked the look on my face every time they brought out the dishes because their presentation was great. Whoever was the Chef that night, I would give him or her an award. This restaurant was unique just like Rome. Highly recommended!

We opted for the Roman-style cuisine tasting menu with wine pairings. The service was warm and welcoming, and the ambiance was quiet and romantic. I appreciated the decor, especially the various wine bottles displayed throughout, and I also liked the dishes the food was served on. That said, this restaurant leaned a little too "foodie" for my taste. I also discovered that I really dislike truffles! My husband, on the other hand, enjoyed everything--including my leftovers. The wines were fantastic across the board. I also want to mention the pricing was shockingly affordable for what we got at dinner, which again, included the wine pairing. If you consider yourself a foodie and enjoy creative, thoughtfully prepared dishes, Ristorante Ad Hoc is worth a visit.

Pane e Salame, however, was delicious!!!! On our first day in Rome, my husband and I decided to search for a lunch spot nearby (we were staying near the Trevi fountain), and I found this place had pretty good reviews. We got there about an hour after it opened and requested a seat outdoors. They have a tiny patio across from their entrance, but they fit quite a bit of people in it! We initially wanted to order two sandwiches to try more items, but I'm glad we just shared one - they were big and filling! We also had the small charcuterie board to share which was plenty of food for us both. We shared a bottle of rose, and all in all, we paid under $50 (usd) - what a steal! This was the perfect first meal in Rome. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was great, and the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the streets of Rome. 10/10 - would absolutely go back.

Our sandwiches were cut in half and one half was big enough to make the average person full. We got five sandwiches for only about €30! The place was not a tourist trap, but i have to say, the seats at the booth were uncomfortable to me, and the place was a bit small. Sorry i do not have photos. But overall, I would recommend to go here.

The edamame we had was soft and boiled/spiced to perfection. Originally we were just going to get a roll and a bowl but after trying the food we immediately got another roll. The staff was a whole new level of mind blowing. To start the waiter made us feel exactly where we belonged (even though we were a little underdressed for a classier restaurant). You could've just sat there and watched the bar tender all night, she looked like she was a professional I wouldn't want anyone else making me drinks. The atmosphere of the whole bar embodied a classic American jazz bar, even the other people and tables we were by were friendly and really added to the whole experience. Was very well worth the price and couldn't recommend any other restaurant.

A jazz club for American tourists…read more Okay, there was one Australian lady and a few Chinese. Everyone else was American. Prices are sky-high because this is a soak the tourist situation. Alexanderplatz which is the premiere jazz club in Rome charges $18 euros for a month membership - no cover after that - and $12 per drink. So once you have paid your monthly cover charge, you can hear all the jazz you want for free - or if need be for $12 euros a drink At Alexanderplatz, the performances are legendary with some of the most innovative and technically amazing musicians in Rome. We dropped over $150 euros at Gregory's. We got a perfectly reasonable yeoman guitarist. But nothing like the artistic lions that routinely perform over at Alexanderplatz. Now to be fair, we had dinner at Gregory's and we never eat at Alexanderplatz. The standard "sushi dinner" was perfectly reasonable yeoman sushi. There was so little of it that we both had to order a la carte dishes afterwards. The extra extras seriously expanded the final tab. * * * One argument in Gregory's favor: their bar is extraordinary. The bar at Alexanderplatz is mediocre. Gregory's charges top dollar for its bar offerings, but what they mix and what is in their bottles is worth every single euro they ask for. I would be perfectly happy to just go to the bar, and order a few premium beverages. I would hear my wallet cry. But I would know that I was drinking supremely well in return for my investment. Fortunately, the bar is downstairs from the club. I would not have to put up with the shenanigans in the club. * * * The problem with the club is the crowd. At most, one third of the customers are actually there to listen to jazz. The room is filled with tourists taking selfies. There are also hot-daters playing snuggle-buns. Many of them will leave mid-set so they can go back to the hotel. Gregory's is less about the music and more about selling happy memories of Rome. * * * Alexanderplatz gets a mostly Italian crowd. You are looking as musicians, music critics, academics, and all purpose artsy types - as well as normal Italian human beings who just want to hear fine music. The music is taken very very seriously. Yeah, there are usually two or three tables with good time Charlies who are doing the phone recording, party hearty thing. But this is 8% of the audience at Alexanderplatz as opposed to 70% of the audience at Gregory's. To be fair to the crowd at Gregory's, the music at Alexanderplatz is simply better. The jazz at Alexanderplatz is capable of transfixing even philistines with tin ears. Gregory's jazz doesn't put that much on the table. But the crowd at Alexanderplatz sets me up for listening to mystic, complex music with the highest level of attention and aesthetic receptiveness. The crowd at Gregory's just gets me irritated. * * * If you are in Rome with a hot date, go to Gregory's. Be prepared to shell out the bucks. * * * If you are in Rome with someone who can truly appreciate once-in-a-lifetime musical experiences, take them to Alexanderplatz. After you talk about the music for half an hour after the concert, You can still go back to the hotel. Just figure that the hotel will be the second best part of the night.
