(RIP Chuck Negron) This was my "Must go to" spot on the first day we were here...and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I made a reservation per recommendation on their website and I am glad I did. As the evening went on it got very busy. The foyer where you check in reminded me of the lobby of a small theatre. There were 2 velveteen curtains separating it from the restaurant. When the curtains parted a huge room with high industrial ceilings and architecture was revealed. WOW!!!! The hostess led us upstairs to the smaller loft bar and told us to sit where ever we wanted...So, we sat with a review to the entire place! We ordered food and drinks from their huge cocktail menu. We watched the bartender make both drinks with fascination. *BTW The bartenders here need to know how to make every cocktail by heart and there are over 50 specialty cocktails! Rosie and I went with: Vodkadora - Wódka Vodka, raspberry syrup, ginger syrup, lime, soda water Cigar Box - Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, smoked black tea syrup, RR lavender bitters, tobacco essence, served on an ashtray with a flamed cinnamon stick Food: CLASSIC REUBEN w/chips - 5/5 sooo good (Rye bread with Rosemary-Garlic Butter, Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese, housemade Sauerkraut & Russian Dressing) SALADE VERTE 5/5 - light and fresh Loved the industrial space and decor. I felt the vibe instantly, like as soon as I put one foot in the door. Magical, sophisticated, worldly, wonderful and more were the feelings that spontaneously hit me. The dark and elegant decor, lighting, design, & layout made me feel as though I were in a high-end Tokyo cocktail lounge. The front room as I mentioned is an intimate bar and lounge area with artwork adorning the walls. It's a modern, minimalist, and sleek space. The artwork is ever-changing (every couple of months or so) and the cocktail menu changes right long with it. Note: artwork is available for purchase. What an absolutely glorious way of combining different mediums (liquid art vs physical art). The craft cocktails & mocktails are the epitome of works of art. I've had great cocktails and mocktails elsewhere but honestly I'd be hard pressed to find anything on this level. You're taken into an entirely different realm just watching the genius of mixologists. It's mesmerizing watching them hone their craft. In the back of the lounge is an enclave of eclectic art and other pieces that then leads you to Konbini, the sushi bar. It's an industrial, warehouse vibe with a long counter that screams hip, Tokyo inspired, late-night eatery. Service is impeccable and welcoming at this cosmopolitan venue. It's truly an amazing experience.

Only food I tried was the Tofu Chip which was delicious as well. Also got the Milky drink and it went down just as smoothly. All in all great place, just popped in for my second time in the past three days. The vibe was chill and laid back. Dim lighting and good music.

I'm usually not a fan of 'craft cocktails' out bc they're overpriced and not nearly as good as what my partner makes at home, but these were glorious. These drinks had layers of flavor. And fresh ingredients. And they were reasonably priced. Honestly, I don't even remember the last time we had such good drinks out (ok that's a lie but another review and it was at that place where Crowbar used to be - but these win hands down). The bartenders were nice and knowledgeable (Did I mention they make amazing drinks?). The outside has a similar feel to Cosmic but more secluded which is nice. They have plenty of seating, mostly outside, and food from an onsite truck, Sabor Tapatio. Honestly, I feel like this place is a unicorn. 78745 low key vibe but also with some old school Austin feels (I'm talking 2005 mid-Noughties - not 20-teen Rainey Street batch cocktails). They also have coffee in the mornings which we'll be checking out sooner rather than later. 10/10 recommend.

There are plenty of different seating options but very few seats inside. The place is chill, ordering drinks took some time even with no rush. Seems like they have some pre-mixed type of cocktails. Happy that South Austin is finally seeing some nice spacious outdoor hangout spots.

With my girlfriend coming into town, I knew it was the perfect chance. We booked a reservation ahead of time using OpenTable, and even though we showed up late, the owners Lawrence and Rachel were immediately friendly and accommodating to us. Located at the Affordable Storage shopping center just north of Hutto, Grapes & Rye is so comfortable inside that you don't even think about it being a converted storage unit. There's plenty of seating for parties of different sizes and chairs that are welcoming and comfortable for long visits. Their menu is impressively expansive with a seasonal fall menu and a regular menu packed with specialty cocktails, classics, and all the liquor needed to make anything you can think of. We were served water immediately once we sat down, which felt very inviting and made me feel welcomed in their space. On their big TV was the Wizards playing the Cavs, and there was the pinnacle of New Jack Swing and R&B playing inside. It was already a fantastic vibe. While we were debating our drinks, Lawrence came by, asked us what we liked, and made picks for us that we trusted. For me, he suggested an Aviation made with gin and maraschino liqueur that was practically glowing when placed in front of me. After my first sip, I patted myself on the back for a drink I didn't even choose. He nailed my preferences perfectly, and on top of that, the drink was one of the most refreshing and well-balanced cocktails I have ever had. As for my girlfriend, she was suggested a Vierre Caureux that she really seemed to enjoy. Our tastes in drinks are pretty different, but we both were very satisfied with Lawrence's suggestions. This led to us asking them about their origins and learning that Grapes & Rye is a passion project of theirs built on their love of bartending and cocktails. They do such a good job that it's hard not to imagine them doing it full time. We hung out for quite a while savoring our beverages before ordering another round. I ordered their Negroni that was easily one of the best Negronis I have ever had. It's so vividly impressive that I immediately want them catering all future events I go to, and I want to see them cater my wedding in like three years time. It's that good. My girlfriend got a Pink Lychee Spritz which she kept saying to me "that's really good" over and over again, showing that it wasn't just me who was impressed by their cocktail mastery. Next time she's in town, I know we'll be back because the drinks here are truly on a different plane of existence. Grapes & Rye has surpassed cocktail hour and become a cocktail experience, making beverages that are next level. They deserve all the success in the world, and it couldn't happen to a better duo. It was just four of us students with Lawrence and Rachel the owners, the perfect hosts. Lawrence explained every step and all the ingredients were measured out in little cups and this gave room for adding more or less of any ingredients, so you could make it your own depending on preferences. It reminded me of how they do this in cooking shows to save time and you can see at a glance all what goes into making a particular cocktail. The class was informative but also really fun. It was very special to have such an engaging experience. I felt among friends at their home. I felt their passion to make tasty imaginative drinks for others to enjoy. As well as teaching anyone interested in learning. A great thing to do for a date or with friends. It's a bit tucked away in an industrial area and their signage is discreet. Suite #28 on the end. That'll make sense once you're there. They've only been at this location since March but Lawrence and Rachel been in business a lot longer and are very knowledgeable in cocktail creations. They mainly do mobile bartending and bring all the bells and whistles to you, including how to make the special drinks. So if you're having a shindig, they're the ones to call to bring the cocktails and skill. I'm so happy to had the opportunity to experience this business and meet the owners.

And, at both breakfasts Amy made me feel especially welcome! The table came with a bottle of water for self-service, which I appreciated. The wine list was of good quality. My server at dinner was able to give me a solid recommendation for one to pair with my salmon. She was dead on with how well it complimented the fish. As for the salmon, it wasn't overly seasoned and was incredibly flaky. It was a good size as well. For breakfast, The Breakfast Plate's eggs were cooked perfectly with appropriately cooked bacon. I enjoyed the potatoes that accompanied it as well. The Buttermilk Pancakes meal was a failure though. The pancakes were gooey inside. My server, Amy, offered to have them remade, but I declined the offer. So I accepted a parfait, which was easily one of the best I've had in Austin. The granola with the berries were perfectly balanced, and the granola wasn't super chunky. Amy was 100% invested in my meal satisfaction. The dining room is quite pretty with lovely set tables. Every time I ate, I felt a tad underdressed! But they don't care if you're comfortably casual, and i saw a family with small children looking very relaxed and vacationy and they were welcome.

That's because we later realized that it was actually the Cambria Hotel's in-building restaurant. We also realized we didn't need reservations, since we and one other family were the only ones dining in for Sunday brunch. The woman who attended to us was very friendly and accommodating. I was able to get a flavorful cappuccino and eggs benedict made vegetarian friendly. The Hollandaise sauce was swapped out for queso, which was a fun twist! All-in-all, a great brunch was had by all. The food was not the best we'd ever had in regards to other brunch places, but knowing that crowds are not a problem here makes this a great back-up spot if the other brunch places in town are backed up!
