I tried 2 of their new food items and both were very good! The stuffed jalapeños are decent as well. The sauce to dip them in is a bit spicy but it is good. The waitress was good but seemed to be a little busy. They were down a cook she said so food was coming out a bit slower than normal. The inside was clean and I had a clean booth. We've had several not-so-great experiences at this Covington location over the years, but the last one ... was the last one. We went in last week for Taco Tuesday. It was around 7:15. They were relatively busy, but not slammed (quite a few empty tables). We were seated in the very back corner on the south side of the building (not a problem, but a little off the "main" part of the dining room). We looked over our menus and waited for a server. And waited. And waited. During this time, a male server (a pretty good sized fellow) came over to the table right across from us at least 3 separate times ... glanced at our table but didn't acknowledge us. When he walked away the first time, we assumed he was probably going to go to another server that they had been seated, but no one else ever appeared. He came back to that table again and made conversion with the lady and child who were sitting there (and were apparently, waiting for another person to join them). Never looked our way. Came back a third time and by this time, we had been waiting for over 15 minutes. He again glanced ar our table (avoiding eye contact) and walked away again. It was obvious we had not been waited on, still had our menus in front of us and nothing to drink or anything. So we decided to leave. On the way out the door, I stopped at the register up front and told the lady, in a very polite but disappointed tone, that we had been sitting back there at our booth for over 15 minutes and had never even been acknowledged in any way by anyone. She just stared blankly at me, as if she either didn't understand English to know what I was saying, or like she truly could not care less ... not sure which (although both are unacceptable, so it doesn't really matter). She never said a word. Just looked at me blankly. So we just turned and walked out the door. They obviously didn't give two hoots about disappointing the customer. We will not be back. Oh, and one more thing ... just a day or two later, we read the most recent bad health department inspection reports, during which they seized a good deal of their meats for being held at over 54° so maybe it was a blessing in disguise that we didn't eat there that night! Might've regretted that, big time. Anyway, we'll find other places to spend our Taco Tuesday nights, but it won't be at any restaurant called Margaritas. read more

We looked for some place close to our hotel. This place looked good. There were a number of cars parked out front. We were seated right away and offered drinks. After our waters along with chips and salsa arrived we dug in. The salsa tasted good and wasn't too spicy. My husband ordered the fajita nachos and I ordered the chicken flautas Margaritas. I have to say they tasted delicious and the dipping sauce added just the right touch. I didn't finish mine and wanted to take my sauce with me. The server brought me a lid and I asked if could have an extra. He told me the extra would cost $1.50. For 2 tablespoons of sauce? No thanks. I had the blackened ranch from Popeyes leftover so I used that and it was free. I'm sorry but a small 2T of sauce isn't worth charging for. While the food was delicious that was a bit of a turn off. read more

If you haven't been here in a while because they weren't up to par, like us, give them another try. They turned things around and have top shelf service and food. They have new plates and glassware now. Delicious and flavorful, steak fajitas and outstanding margaritas. The bartender poured the drinks stout too. Place was clean and servers were very attentive and friendly. Margaritas has an elegant Mexican decor with tall ceilings and stucco walls. This restaurant didn't measure up today, when it came to the flavor and real beef in my order of Enchiladas. Those Enchiladas didn't have any flavor, and the so-called beef in them were not beef at all. They didn't taste like any beef that I'm accustomed to eating. There is no telling what type of meat that was , (Dog, Cat, or Horse Meat possibly?!!!. Needless to say, I will not be visiting there anymore. read more

Driving down Hwy 51, you see a hacienda style building. Your 5 senses are awakened soon as you get out of your car. Mexican music wafting thru the air as you approach the building and throughout the dining room, Mexican art on the walls. The smell of salsa coming from the tables, not to mention your taste buds coming to life as you taste the salsa served at the table along with home made chips. Out server,Destiny, was very engaging and attentive. The food came out quickly and piping hot. I had the pollo borracho,(druken chicken)which is a chicken breast drenched in a tequila sauce topped with bacon and melted queso blanco, served with mexican rice, refried beans and (here's the 5th sense)home made warm tortillas. The wife had the fajita quesadillas that she couldn't finish (it was so big). Wash that all down with a Fiesta margarita and a glass of zinfandel and you're set. Worth the drive. read more

Driving through and decided to try something new. I had chili relleno with steak. Was the worst I've ever had, the steak was inedible hard little chunks. The chili's were sopping wet, not sure how they managed that. My friend had chicken fajitas. Just OK but only got two tortillas with meal. Beans were flavorless but Rice was OK. Very solid Mexican place. We come here anytime we visit from Houston. We find that Margaritas gives even our favorite TX places a run for the money. (Especially for fajitas or their Molcajete special) Their margaritas and cheese dips are very tasty. No better place in town for Mexican food. read more

This is a stellar Mexican restaurant. I visit whenever I'm in town from Houston, Texas, which should tell you a lot. Great margaritas, bean dip and fajitas! My favorite item to order is the molcajete. Beef fajitas, chicken fajitas, shrimp, panela cheese, nopales and chorizo come sizzling in a lava-rock stone bowl (it's called a molcajete). This location is definitely a lot better than the Atoka location. Better service for sure.. the only thing I have to really complain about is the margaritas. I ordered one that had so much tequila in it that I couldn't drink it! Maybe next time I'll ask to go a little light on the tequila other than that the service is great, food is great and come out fast. read more

Ok.. I really don't want to do this. I've always loved this place. We went and had mediocre food. After we ate I killed a roach on the table. I told the waitress and she said sorry, we paid our bill and left. We stayed away for awhile. We'll, tonight (3-16-22) we decided to try it again and were sat at the very same table. My wife's food came out fast, hot, and tasted great. I ordered the barrio tacos. The waiter asked if I wanted chicken or steak, which I thought they were made from pork. I said steak. She was finished eating when my food arrived. Mine came out with pork, two types of bland sauces, on deep fried corn tortillas. I still had high hopes so I took a bite... one bite. It was horrible. The waiter finally came by after some time and I told him how bad they were. He thanked me for telling him because he wanted to try them and now he won't. Lol. You can't make this up. 2nd and 3rd chances.. The first time we came, we ordered to go. Only the steak tacos were wrong.. When I took it back the white waitress told me, "you were on the phone with a Mexican..." I guess that means I should have known my order was going to be wrong.. And they charged me extra... The second time I went, I also called my order in. Our order was correct, but when I went to pick up our order she wouldn't check me out. She went and got the manager he and came out he asked me, "Is there a problem?" I said, "Not that I know of.. I'm just here to pick up my order." I didnt kniw how to feel Tonight was a different ball game. My husband's order was wrong, again. He kept telling me, "this is not what I orderd." Our waitress came over with another waitress. When he looked up she said, "We're just checking something.." and they disappeared. Later, when our waitress came back, my husband said, "I got the wrong plate. didnt I?" She said, "yes, I'm so sorry, is it okay though?" When he said something like, "yes, but this isn't what I ordered." She simply thanked him and walked away.. There was never an offer to adjust the ticket. not even for the $2 difference for the plate being lesser than what he ordered. Ordered the guacamole the first time had so much lime juice it was inedible. So they remade it and didn't put in any salt or lime juice. Tried to get a waitresses attention and she just mumbled something at us and walked off. But the entree was good. read more

By far the worst service AND food I've ever received in a Mexican establishment. I would not recommend whatsoever. I've never reviewed a place until today, so that should tell you bad it was and I've worked in food service. From start to finish I felt uncomfortable - got seated, got chips/salsa, didn't get asked for a drink for 15mins following getting my chips, then I asked for queso, never received my queso until I rementioned it after I received all my other food, then 15 minutes after I waited she came out to ask if I still wanted the queso because she'd charge me for it (prob would've been a good start to apologize & not charge me for it considering she didn't bring it till the end), so then she went back and got the queso, then my quesadilla was so cold the cheese was all still shredded, not even melted. And I couldn't even believe how much my bill was for all of that horrible Mexican food & service. Never again. read more

Was in tonight from out of town, for a family dinner with a group of 20, we had excellent service and the food was great. The server knew exactly who had ordered what despite our rowdy group and her other tables. Definitely recommend!! read more
