Got the Primo & it was exactly what I needed on a fine, brisk Marfa morning. Cute spot, decent seating indoors for when it's chillier out, lots of outdoor space, too! I'm a baby when it comes to hot sauce so I WISH they had a homemade sauce that was a little less spicy so I could have added a small kick to my burrito but even without it was SUPER tasty! Grabbed breakfast here on our way to Big Bend. As you enter, the owner, who is also the cook, greets you from her kitchen. The burrito was good the largest I've personally ever eaten and was chuck full of ingredients! I had an egg & cheese and my husband had a ground beef since their carne asada wasn't yet ready. He had to have a lb of meat along with several jalapeños in his burrito. There is salsa verde on a table and you help yourself. There is free coffee if you buy a burrito. Their coffee is better than at the hotel we stayed at! I would say this was the best burrito I've ever eaten. Now mind you, each burrito had only the ingredients listed...eggs & cheese for mine and ground beef & jalapeños for my husband's. My husband and I made the journey to Marfa this weekend and this was our last stop before heading out. I was excited from all the recommendations I'd seen online but overall, it was just okay to us. Maybe I had high expectations but this place was a bit of a let down. There was about 10-15 people ahead of us in line so overall we waited about 30 minutes or so. When you order from the window, you actually wait for your food to be prepared and then you take it back to a table rather than having a runner bring it out for you. I ordered a egg, cheese, and potato burrito and my husband ordered El Primo. While it's made in front of you (or so I think? You can see into the kitchen but there's a partition so you can't actually see them cooking) I was very surprised when my burrito came out cold! The tortilla was hard and basically snapped in several places when I took my bites. It lacked flavor and was overall disappointing. The saving grace was the salsa verde. Made fresh as they refilled while we were in line and it was straight from the blender. I would've taken buckets of it home if I could. Not rushing to go back any time for the food though. read more

What can I say? I saw many reviews for this place so I figured it would be a safe bet, so I ventured to go eat here. When I get to the place, there's a million and one flies outside. I mean more flies than I've seen in any other place I've ever been to. I ordered two burritos and two small cans of Coke for $18. I'm thinking yum, these are going to be good. I go sit outside, and immediately, I'm covered in flies. So with one hand I'm trying to grab the burrito, with the other hand, I'm fighting off flies. All I can say is either most of these reviews are from people who have not gone to other Mexican places, or maybe just people who like bland food. The meat is flavorless. I mean absolutely flavorless. It tastes like it was boiled. You have to add lots of green sauce to add any flavor and even then, it's just heat, not flavor. The tortillas are dry. The tortillas are so dry that they're flaking and cracking before you pick up the burrito. There's no way to eat this burrito unless you use a fork. Would I say this was the worst burrito I've ever eaten? No, but considering it's price and undeserving hype, I would say yes. I didn't find this place especially charming or quaint. It's true, it helps to know Spanish to order, which is kind of a pain. Not a political statement or anything, I just found it annoying, especially on top of all the other confusion about how to get a dang burrito out of the place. There's really no indication of where to order, or how, or even which door to enter when you get there. You just have to figure it out because they sure as hell are not going to tell you. They also don't let you know that sodas are available, or that the coffee is free. It feels like they didn't become a restaurant intentionally; people just started wandering in this lady's house at breakfast time, and she was like, okay, hand me $5 I guess. I'll bring you a burrito next month or so. The ordering process is not first-come, first-served. The person I was with (same order) was served about 15 minutes before me, and a lot of other randoms got food in between. The Primo Burrito I ordered came with an unpleasant surprise: a boatload of raw jalapeños. I know some people love spicy food, but unfortunately I'm not one of them, so it might have been nice to mention that somewhere on the hand-written menu. (Maybe I should've added it myself. Not like anyone would have noticed.) The burrito itself was pretty good, but definitely not good enough to balance out my wasted, awkward morning. Located in a woman's home it was a little difficult to decipher which door to enter. Go to the back door by the kitchen, but do not enter through the kitchen. Kinda verde-ish. Tasty, vibrant and fairly spicy this a fun way to start the day and gets your digestive tract active... The place is rickety and very charming. Grass and weeds grow through the some of the floors in the add-on. The windows would fog the more people would arrive and the tables and chairs were a little bit wobbly but for the price these features are to be expected. Recommended every morning you stay in Marfa. Absolutely delicious burritos in a charming, homestyle setting. The abuelita rolls out tortillas by hand, while her hija takes your order with limited English. The flour tortillas are as good as they get (and I say that after a week of eating breakfast burritos all over southwest Texas). The egg, cheese, potato and chorizo fillings are just right. I like that they have flexible hours and close when they run out - everything about it feels like I'm back in small town Mexico.
