This was probably our favorite meal on vacation! We stopped by the small bar to the side (its a two seater, I believe) and grabbed a couple of cocktails before our reservation. Our bartender was friendly and the decor is fun - it feels like your in a rich friend's cool at home bar, but with better drinks. When it was time for dinner we were seated at one of the booth-style tables looking at the pretty pool. The rain was coming, but they were prepared with drop down shades that kept the storm from impacting us. We had the Spanish octopus with potato cream as an app and it was delicious. Followed that with the black paella and again, phenom (this is said from a non-seafood fan too). 100% will be back, and we're contemplating staying at the hotel too since it's kid free and gorgeous! read more

I am a foodie that likes to try new things. But often one picks where you feel comfortable. This time I picked this Spanish restaurant because it had the best ratings in all platforms. I expected a great meal. I got much more than that, even when we ordered spanish staples like Padron peppers or papas bravas they had a twist that made it worth experimenting. The dessert was also incredible, we had the caramelizadlo brioche with guava.... Worth it. The have a tasting menu but I was worn that it's quite a lot of food. With what we tried, 4 dishes, they are all worth it and next time I will go more hungry to tackle the tasting menu and try many more dishes. Stayed at The National so we had to try this restaurant for dinner (breakfast was great too). The sitting area is outside under cover, and looks out into the stunning courtyard/pool. Tapas were good. Would have liked to try more but we split the paella for two so didn't over do it. I'm vegetarian focused, so we shared the mushroom / artichoke paella...and it was simply amazing. Perfectly prepared and so much flavor. The meat paella options must be awesome as well. Both desserts (brioche / cheesecake) were a cut above. Food: The Kale salad was nothing too special, the blue cheese was good. The mussels were... not our favorite. I would skip. However, the mussels were AMAZING. We made reservations for our first night at the National hotel (where Mareva is located) figuring it would be easier to just eat on site. Well, at the end of the meal my husband and I were so impressed with the food and drinks that we decided we might not need to leave the hotel for a meal anywhere else lol. Saturday night featured excellent live music at the Mareva bar. The cocktails were creative, delicious, and beautifully designed - yet another example of the National's attention to beauty and detail. The appetizers were fantastic, the paella was incredible, and the dessert - a carmalized brioche with guava foam and coconut ice cream - was so ridiculously delicious that we had it more than once. The breakfast avocado toast and waffles were also delicious. My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining here. The atmosphere, staff and food were all great. Our table overlooked a beautiful infinity pool and we had option of seating inside/outside. Unfortunate that I write this as I've been here before and it was incredible. The service was just awful.... Our waitress disappeared and didn't come back for an egregiously long tine to take our order - she explained there was "an incident". The wine we ordered came after our first two tapas plates, the bread we asked for came after we had finished all our courses. The check with 18% tip included was not picked up and I had to walk it in myself. Just a really horrible experience and ruined what would otherwise have been a good culinary experience. read more

This was definitely not the place for our family - there was 10 of us, although, that is not the reason for the 1 star review. When we sat the music was so loud outside that even screaming into the waitresses ear, she couldn't hear me. We asked about 10 times total for the music to be lowered and still nothing. We put in our drink orders and about 10 minutes later put in our appetizer orders. The appetizers came out before any of our drinks, and I don't just mean cocktails, but even the coca cola and the lemonade that two of my cousins ordered. We were obviously upset, so we asked for the manager. He offered us a bottle of pink champagne and without asking if it was what we wanted, he opened it and started pouring everyone glasses - no one in my family likes champagne or pink wine. A while later the drinks started coming out. The specialty cocktails were way over poured - as a 22 year old this is never a problem for me LOL, but theses drinks were seriously unbearable. I got a dirty martini and it tasted like they scooped water out of the ocean. Wayyyyyy too salty and undrinkable. After all that, we decided we couldn't stay for our entrees and had to leave. If you do choose to eat here though, the chorizo, octopus and meatballs were very good. read more

We've been to Mareva a handful of times since it opened. It's hard to find truly good food in Miami beach, and this is one of the spots where you can expect really flavorful and skillfully made food. Our server Olga was very attentive and provided excellent service, she checked in on us frequently so we didn't have to wait to order more drinks or other dishes. After that, the place was a disaster.....food: subpar would be a kind description. Ordered three different tapas dishes and had a hard time finishing all three. They were literally challenging to eat. Service was atrocious. The waiter made me feel like I was at McDonald's....every five minutes he asked the equivalent of "would you like fries with that?". Final nail in the coffin--they added an 18% tip, without any notice. I paid it without complaining. But I'm writing this review. STAY AWAY....this place is a ONE star restaurant.
