The outdoor tables are incredible. Service almost over solicitous (but better that than being forgotten about). Nice to see the lead sous out on the floor checking in on diners. The food, however, was lacking. $25 for seven slices of pretty standard manchego and bread started the evening off. The octopus over potato had an incredible flavor though not much octopus. Had to order more bread as the dish was very soupy. The bone marrow was simply short-rib shredded into a bone cavity - flavorful but not at all what it was advertised to be. The patatas bravas tasted simply of smoked paprika and needed both salt and something bright to liven the dish. The branzino was well done and likely saved the evening. Did not try any of the paellas, but based on the reaction of the larger table next to us, I'm glad I didn't. The entire table asked for salt and even then, most left lots of their two different paellas uneaten. Finally - and while I recognize this is pretty much industry standard in Miami Beach - adding 18% gratuity automatically to a check for a party of two is quite annoying. Enough so that I was tempted to leave it at that and ignore the "extra tip" request. Overall, however, this was one of our better meals in Miami Beach... read more

I had the most amazing experience at Mareva 1939. The food was incredible, the staff were outstanding, and the atmosphere couldn't have been more perfect for a relaxing 7pm dinner. Meme our server was always there to cater to our needs and consistently demonstrated the professionalism and courtesy one would expect from such a nice dining establishment. I would highly suggest ordering anything you wish off their menu. There is no wrong choice. Personally the ribeye steak entrée and the Spanish octopus appetizer were top notch as well as the bone marrow. I will definitely be returning next time I'm in Miami to enjoy another night at this restaurant! Thank you! read more

I am giving two stars instead of 1 just be puse of the staff which is very attentive., and the beautiful decor. I had the artichoke and mushroom paella the rice was undercooked And the octopus overcooked hard to eat when is that way . The bone marrow was good. But unfortunately the good things don't make it up for the bad things that went wrong with our food that night. read more

Mareva 1939 - Spanish Near Me - Miami Beach, Florida

Mareva1939 is located in the National Hotel and is nicely tucked away overlooking the pool. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and while I sat outside on the patio, the seating inside certainly looked comfortable. For dinner, I had two tapas dishes...the clams and the octopus. Unfortunately, they were out of the ham croquettes and potatas bravas...which was deeply disappointing as they are a staple at almost every Spanish tapas restaurant. The clams were just ok. The dish contained ~1 dozen tiny clams, thick slices of onions in an unremarkable sauce. Tbh, my clams in white wine and garlic sauce are far superior. The Octopus was a bit better as the dish was full of bite sized octopus pieces in a nice paparika intensive potato ragu. That being said, the main dish was quite good. I had the artichoke and mushroom paella and it was really well done. Excellent mushrooms and rather well prepared artichokes, Overall, a decent dinner at a restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere and very attentive service read more

I just had the worst breakfast I have ever eaten before. I got the huevos rotos, the fries where super undercooked the eggs where overcooked and the jamon was too thick and chewy. Also got the pancakes which where down right bad. Terrible texture, heavy and no taste. The bananas on top where putrid, like what did you do to a banana to make it taste that bad ? It's really impressive how bad everything was. The place was beautiful though ! Nice breeze, perfect morning. Really disappointing ! read more

So full confession, I came mainly for the chocolate ganache dessert! The meal turned out fabulous! The atmosphere was beautiful and the vibe lively. Flavio was my server and he nailed it with his service and attention. He never steered me wrong and gave me perfect attention despite me being a single diner! I had the beet carpaccio salad which was delicious and then I had the octopus in the potato purée which came with some toasted bread. The octopus was a generous sized tapas! Then I went straight for my chocolate ganache dessert which was outstanding. It was so unique with garlic and bread and somewhere in there was mushrooms! I don't know how it was made but I absolutely loved it. I drank a glass of Rosè txakolina and it paired well with everything! The place was quite beautiful too with its tiled floor and tiled ceiling, and I was fortunate enough to hear an classical music concert in the bar. Just wonderful and reasonably priced too! read more

Superb cocktails. Solid food. Fun ambience. OK service. Came here twice, both for group celebrations. This is the perfect spot for a group to have 2 cocktails a person, share tapas, and walk out actually full with your bill being right at $100 - honestly a feat for miami beach. Service was decent for the area & group size - not attentive, but the food/drinks kept coming, and we could get their attention when needed. Recommended dishes - Seafood paella (a 2 person order is enough for 4 when you're ordering other things) - Pan con tomate - Jamon iberico - Baby kale - Croquetas - Bone marrow Honorable mentions - Patatas bravas - Mussels Didn't care for the steak tartare, short rib paella, octopus, chorizo. Unfortunately, didn't get to try the more entree-type dishes. Everyone really enjoyed the cocktails - hibiscus and melon drinks were the favorites! About 8pm (on Fridays at least) a live vocalist begins playing in the bar area, but the music is projected to the outside area, so it's pretty loud no matter where you're sitting. I'm not sure if there's a regular, but the first time was a sultry modern cover artist, second time was a lively entertainer switching between Elton John and show tunes. Depends on your taste, I loved both! Don't forget to capture a quintessential miami photo down by the pool. Sweet Liberty is an easy walk away if you're looking to keep the casual fun going. read more

The atmosphere would really have been enough for me but the food and service were great! We sat by the pool at a very cute lit table. Mussels, croquettes, kale salad and paella were all delicious! We said we weren't hungry going in but changed after we started eating haha! Also they make a great martini read more

Legitimately one of the best restaurants I've had in Miami! Their melon or sandia cocktail was amazing! It has mezcal in it but it's still very light and easy to drink. All the tapas were delicious but we especially loved the octopus and mussels. We ordered the mushroom and asparagus paella as well as seafood and lobster paella and couldn't decide which was better, they were both that good. It was our friends birthday and they gave us a cheese flan which I'm not usually a fan of but it was amazing! Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back again! read more

Awesome food. Service is great too. We loved the atmosphere - chill music, beautiful pool view and cozy comfortable seating. We had white gazpacho, octopus, and artichoke and mushroom paella. Food was of highest quality. Octopus is not easy to make, this chef cooked it to perfection - crunchy outside tender inside. Paella and gazpacho were really food too. Best dinning experience I've had in Miami. My family and I were pleasantly surprised on how great this place was. The staff was super helpful and friendly and the dishes was exceptional. We've had the bone marrow, Spanish sausage, Spanish octopus, and cheese dish for the tapas. Everything was amazing. The price was reasonable and the desert was great. We came for our anniversary dinner and could not be more pleased. The food was absolutely delicious (my husband still can't stop talking about the octopus) from all of the tapas to the bigger plates. Excellent food, the ambience is absolutely gorgeous, the service was impeccable, I highly recommend.

I arranged a corporate dinner here for ~15 people and found the restaurant to be very helpful and accommodating. We were seated at a long table toward the back corner of the inside area where we could still feel a nice breeze. The service was timely and attentive, and my server helped me ordered a variety of tapas items for the table that included vegetarian and gluten free options. I also appreciated that people could come and go, and the restaurant wasn't strict about seating everyone at one time. Our group enjoyed the food and the vibe of the place. Prices are on par with other restaurants of this style in South Beach, and there were plenty of options for everyone. I especially enjoyed the artichoke and wild mushroom paella! Would recommend for informal group dinners, especially if you're attending an event at the convention center nearby. read more

Came here on Friday Night to try out their Miami Spice Menu. The restaurant is located inside of the National Hotel. The place and ambiance is very romantic which makes it perfect for a date night. Our server was very attentive and explained almost everything in the menu for us. All the food was pretty delicious just wish there would have been more of the mashed purée under my fish. Will most likely come back here to try their regular menu. read more

Located in the National Hotel, an Art Deco gem built in 1939. The ambiance is among the finest in Miami Beach. There are plenty of photos on Mareva's website to see for yourself. The Chef prepares true Spanish style cuisine. Everything we had was very good. Ambiance and delicious food aside, what made our evening at Mareva absolutely MARVELOUS was the Staff. The Hostess, Bar Manager and Server were professional, cheerful and welcoming. This restaurant may say it is Old World cuisine of Spain but Definitely NOT. Not one Cod Fish/Bacalao dish on menu. Traditional protien. Advertised Padron peppers were not. The potatoe cream in scantily found rubbery grilled octopus was bland, needed seasoning. Short rib and garbanzo paella was not good. Rice was mushy and under seasoned. We had to search for thin fibers of short rib. The bland morsilla was 4 small pieces for two a person serving. Lots of garbanzo beans. The service was good. The only reason we gave it 1 star because the toreja Dessert was excellent. read more

Raw oysters, bone marrow and seafood are the best. They taste great and are delicious. Thank you, Dr. Jacqueline Sacco MD PhD

We spent the day at the beach and wanted to stay at our hotel the National, and we really enjoyed our dining experience. To start our waitress Melissa was very sweet and a joy . She was helpful and answered all our questions and even went back to the kitchen to verify some ingredients. My sister the got the Bronzino . It had a vinaigrette sauce with spicy peppers , she said it was delicious and I tasted it and agreed. I got the short ribs and they were so tender and the sauce on them were great but I would have liked more potatoes . The surrounding sauce was excellent. We tried the dark chocolate dessert and it was surrounded by cookie crumbs and fruit and the combination was good. We ate by the infinity pool and the atmosphere was beautiful. read more

Beautiful place and great service. Photo opps are great for instagram but not for your stomach- the food still needs to be good and Marea comes through with esthetic and substance. We came here during a recent trip to Miami that just so happened to be Spice Week. Was a great chance to try three courses at a cheaper rate. The spicy chorizo was my favorite. My steak was well cooked but I could had a little less finishing salt. For tapas, it's a little pricey however typical for the area. Cocktails were tasty while also packing a punch. Our server Sebastian was a delight! Would recommend and return on my next trip. Check out Marea 1939! read more

If you're looking to be pampered by a super attentive staff and distinctive dishes, then definitely check this place out. We stuck to the menu highlights and were immensely satisfied and stuffed by the end: a couple mini empanadas (on the house!), the grilled octopus tapa, the black ink paella, and manchego flan. We were also provided bread on the house to clean up the plates because the sauces were that good! :) the staff was always available to answer questions, provide suggestions, and accommodate requests. read more

We had an amazing 10th anniversary dinner at Mareva 1939 during our trip to Miami. We chose to eat outside since it was beautiful out. Such nice views. Our waitress was a little new, but enthusiastic and helpful. There were four of us, and we all decided on the Miami Spice menu. My husband and I split everything, so got a great feel of the offerings. So our appetizers were the baby kale salad and the Spanish chorizo. The salad had cheese, pear slices, almonds, and a sherry vinaigrette. It was delicious. The grilled chorizo looked a little different than what I'm used to, as it was long and thin, but tasted great. For entrees, we tried the branzino and rib eye. The branzino was a decent sized portion served on top of a delicious white sauce. The rib eye was tasty and tender. The two desserts were the most interesting on the spice. Menu. The "always chocolate" was a chocolate ganache with a little sprinkling of olive oil and salt. The Spanish flan had a base made from my favorite, manchego cheese, served topped with a sweet red pepper compote. I'm such a chocolate lover, but surprisingly the flan was the table's favorite, hands down. read more
