The layout is confusing, the produce is sad looking (also - so specific, I know - but they don't carry many herbs; no dill or mint here, for example; very soggy looking berries), the overhead music is blasting so loud, the shopping carts are enormous and many seem to have one funky wheel, the space is small so the aisles are small and it feels like you're constantly in the shadow of shelves... I don't know, it's hard to explain. I think if you're looking for food/snack/grocery items, go to the Hannaford across the street (or the Shaws a quarter of a mile down the road). I understand the importance of this Walmart, seeing as it's ideally located en route to Sebago and you can stock up on all your camping/staycation essentials. As a local, I'd rather skip coming here entirely (even for using it as a convenient bathroom stop).

Well, stop I did, to see if they had a gift for a friend's birthday. First, I love any store that smells like balsam as you walk through the door. The scent makes me feel like a kid again. I'm not from Maine (have been here long enough to feel at home), but as a kid we used to drive here from Ohio and spend a few weeks going up and down the coast. The smell of balsam reminds me of these trips. Second, I was shocked by the variety they had. Maple syrup, Maine souvenirs, crafting supplies, wooden figurines, and antiques. The have a sign stating that they "glue chairs". I didn't know that was a thing, but apparently, it is... They also sell wreaths and Christmas trees during the appropriate season. And finally, the owners were as nice as could be. They had out hot chocolate for the kids, and they wrapped my little gift up neatly. This little shop is well worth the drive into town because of how darn cute it is!

One of my items that I got is this cute, small chargeable lamp to keep @ my Mom's house in my room & man I wish I picked up two of them so I can bring back one to Vegas with me...ugh. I found these cat wobble toys that you put cat treats in & your cat will hit the toy causing it to rock & treats to fall out of the hole. I have something like this already & my younger cat LOVES it. My friend wanted one but when I went looking on-line for one the one's I was coming across were crazy $$, I got one for under $3.00. Their dog toys are inexpensive & they have a big selection. I also grabbed a few packs of clearance underwear for men & women along with a pack of t-shirts for $2.00 per package. I grabbed these due to the great deal & to donate to our "kindness closet" @ work for the homeless patients & other's who may need something to wear. They have these hugs cans of nuts for wicked cheap, great for grabbing to bring to a friend's house when headed over for a gathering. Their hair products, body wash & lotions are cheaper than Walmart prices. They also have a sign in the check out line to not forget to pickup a ME Whoopee pie so I grabbed one for only $1.50. The cashier was nice, I didn't catch her name. Don't forget to bring your own bag with ya to put all your goodies in (guess it's a ME thing now) & make sure it's a big one!!! lol

I had been to Marden's before but never saw anything I really loved. This time I went I scored big…read moretime and found Creme de la Mer (ultra high end French skincare product). It was a 1 oz jar for $90. Usually the 1 oz jar is $200. I was able to use checkfresh.com on the item's batch code and see it was from 2021. This didn't bother me though as the product was still in-box and plastic wrapped. I feel so lucky and would definitely come back just to check the glass cases where the more expensive products are.

Our friend needs two different sizes for her feet, and we were able to find them pretty easily. This location is convenient to pickup beach towels or chairs if you plan to visit Sebago Lake State Park (20 minute drive away on Route 302). This Reny's was a surprisingly large store with two levels and had many products made in Maine. On the first floor, we picked up 2 bags of Fox Family Potato Chips (Salt and Pepper; Wicked Hot BBQ) before leaving the state of Maine. I wish we had purchased 5 more bags as the chips were delicious (potato flavor and not overly seasoned). Service was friendly and the checkout line was relatively short. The prices were comparable to what you might pay at a grocery store like a Hannaford. Overall, I think every visitor should stop by a Reny's at least one time to experience this unique Maine store!
