Only just discovered this place a couple months ago (it's right next to a yoga studio I frequent), right in downtown Watertown. It's a full service salon (minus nails) with about 8 hair stations when you first walk in, and a separate aesthetics area tucked away in the back. It is right on public square, so parking is a pain on the street, but I was told that there's also a parking lot tucked behind it that is much easier to deal with. I only knocked a star off because of the prices -- although they are the best prices in the area for Brazilians ($70 initially, then $60 from then on with recurring appointments). I've seen Hilary twice now, and she makes the process as quick and painless as possible. Plus she's fun to chat with, and knows a lot about the area -- which for me not being a local is helpful :) I've been to a couple other places for waxing so far, and they've either been outrageously priced and take forever, or the salons were very out of the way and inconvenient because they only took cash. So, I will definitely continue to see Hilary for her services as long as I'm in the area, and you should too! read more

I absolutely loved my hair cut and color from Olivia and the massage therapist was fantastic however when I was getting my massage it was extremely noisy I can hear people laughing and yelling there was a lot of slamming banging I would not recommend to ever get a massage at this place the noise was unbearable When I talk to the manager she did not seem to care in the slightest she says yes noise happens in old buildings sorry .I felt that after spending that kind of money on services she should have made it right by me somehow .However she did not offer anything but telling me old buildings are noisy .Don't go here it's not worth your money for a massage !!!!!! read more

We came here because our usual place was booked. It was difficult to find with navigation, and even though I thought my daughters hair was cute she didn't like it also was not happy with her makeup either. I've used Aveda Salon's over the past ten years or so, so naturally when moving into this area I sought them out. The building is quaint, however, it's off the main road so it took some searching for. The ladies that helped us were very friendly and the service was ok, but there were some issues regarding scheduling because there were several appointments made (i.e. hair, nails etc.) They have the hefty Aveda price, unfortunately, I don't think the services were up to par. I will continue to search for a hairstylist elsewhere as well as for my mani's and pedi's. read more

I just moved to the area and specifically looked for an Aveda spa to have my nails done. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi and opted for a shellac mani (July special). Upon arriving I noticed that there wasn't a "spa" feeling, at all. It's located in an old warehouse and it didn't seem like they did that much to update it. The waiting room consisted of what appeared to be someone's old thrown out sofa and chairs. During my manicure the office door was open and I got to watch an old man eat his lunch. Also, another employee came up to my tech and teased her about leaving a bottle of polish out. Very unprofessional. I wasn't impressed with the shellac mani. It ended up turning out kind of sloppy, with thick edges at the ends. The pedicure was ok, but I can do a better job at home. The only good thing about the visit was the tech. She was very friendly, telling me about local places to eat and things to do. This spa really needs to update their look and spend some time training their staff to be more professional. Additional training on nails would be a plus! read more

First time at Marcy. The place looks very inviting and clean. Michaela did my hair. The reason why I'm giving 1 star because my hair color looks almost exactly the same the moment I walked in and out the salon. I asked her to toned my hair and cut and have the glossy applied. The cut is ok. She applied the toner and left on my hair for 5 mins then rinse. Then she applied the glossy left on my hair for about five minutes then rinse. Sat on the chair and she blow dry my hair. I felt like everything went so quick. My hair on the top even looks and feel greasy after all those washing anf toning. Not really happy with the service I got from her. So I had to call another salon close by to fix my hair same day. Found Beauty Bar cross the street. First time here as well so hopefully it will turned out perfect. I will do a review once I'm done. Now I'm still waiting at the lobby here at Beauty Bar. read more

After getting my hair butchered at the PX, I decided to come to Marcy's Spa and Salon to fix the mess. One of my friends has been raving about how this place is amazing. So I decided to give this place a try and Debbie(Debby?) was my stylist and I told her to do her magic and fix my hair and add in some layers. She did a phenomenal job! She was really gentle with washing and blow drying my hair so much to the point I almost fell asleep xD I highly recommend this place to anyone who is new to Watertown and is apprehensive about getting their hair cut for the first time in this city. read more

Tattoo removal sessions do not work and are a complete waste of money. I purchased 6 removal sessions and spent hundreds of dollars, my tattoo did not fade at all. Either the laser doesn't work or their 'specialists' are not trained properly. I tried to work with the owner on a solution and her only suggestion was to spend hundreds more to see if that will remove any of it, and if I wasn't happy with the results I would have to contact the laser company. I really loved getting my gel polish done at the Marcy. It was even and stayed on with no chips for 3-4 weeks. The girl who did them was able to do many different variations of sparkles. She ended up moving away and I was booked with someone else this past time. My nails were uneven and sloppy and only lasted 4 days until they chipped. And many of the tools used before were taken with the girl when she moved. I was charged $40, and with removal it used to be $35- I won't be going back read more

I got my hair done here once and I really wasn't all that impressed. I asked them to do blonde hilights which they did but they went way too light and when I told the girl that I really didn't like the way it came out, she sighed and acted like I was annoying her. I wish there was on option to give 0 stars. The problem started when I called to make an appointment for a haircut and the woman on the phone was having a conversation with someone else while trying to make my appointment. I arrived to every employee outside smoking in the front of the building. When I began to get my haircut the woman had double booked and had two clients at once. The woman washed my hair and began cutting it, but left twice mid hair cut to go check and wash her other clients hair. I sat with freezing cold, wet hair, for 15 minutes until I decided to walk out. While I was sitting there, waiting, other employees were walking around, eating food, talking about their weekend plans quite loudly. I left with half a haircut and wet hair. They are unprofessional, non apologetic and I will NEVER be back. read more

I've been to many Aveda concept salons and usually look for them when I move to a new area. I've been to this salon a few times for hair cuts and a manicure. The manicure was good and my first two hair cuts were fine, but not great. I have wavy/curly hair and never wear it straight, so it's hard for me to find the right stylist that really understands that type of hair. On my last visit I specifically asked for someone who works well with wavy/curly hair and the person scheduling recommended a senior stylist. The front desk person was friendly in greeting me and let my stylist know I was there. She came out within a few minutes. She took me to her chair and I explained in detail what I was wanting. I had let my hair grow to the middle of my back and it was pulling the curly out. I wanted to cut my hair so that when it curled, it sat on my shoulders. I also wanted layers put in to give it body. She acted like she understood. Before taking me to wash it, she wanted to get rid of the bulk. She gathered my hair in the back and cut. I should have known from that moment that this was not going to end well. The shampoo was nice; she wasn't rough. She began cutting, before I knew it I saw that she had gone too short. I didn't say anything because how was she going to fix going too short. By the time she was finished, I saw that she really didn't listen to me at all. Once it was dry, my hair reached the base of my neck. I've had my hair this short before, but it was not what I was wanting or expecting. Now usually at this point, the stylist would walk me to the front, give me her card and maybe a few free samples, and ask me if I would like to make a future appointment. To my surprise this did not happen. She walked ahead of me and went into the back office. I needed some conditioner, so I grab one and went to the front desk to pay. I waited a few minutes for someone to come out and check me out. She finally did. But I didn't see my stylist again until I walked outside to my car and saw her with the other stylists having a smoking break. I got no "thank you for coming in", except from the front desk person. This is really the worst hair cut I have gotten in awhile. And there is nothing I can do, except wait for it to grow out. read more

Just a heads up to everyone that Marcy Spa and Salon has a broken jets in 1 of the 2 pedicure chairs that they have and will wait for you to sit down for your pedicure and then will say "by the way the jets are broken in this chair" and not offer to reschedule your appointment or let you know ahead of time that they have broken jets. If you call them and tell them that this is not good customer service and expect them to resolve this and keep customers happy and they will pretty much tell you that no one else has complained about this and you are the only one and single you out and say the jets only run for 3 minutes anyways which is not the case! Ever heard of the saying the customer is always right? I even offered to pay for a new pedicure with the chair that isn't broken at the December special for a new pedicure with a 20 percent discount that they had offered me which would make another new one $20 and they said no! They basically wouldn't do anything to make me happy and then tell you to have a Happy New Year! Never again will I buy a Christmas present for my Wife and her best friend to get any services from Marcy Spa and Salon! I can only hope that other customers that normally go to you decide not to go to you because they see this! Besides, you will not get the full spa experience that you are supposed to receive! Happy New Year to you Marcy Spa and Salon! Take my advice and don't pay extra because you aren't paying extra for good customer service! Think I'm going to go to Casablanca Nails Spa in Evans Mills, NY from now on. Pedicures are only $20 and if one chair breaks then I'm sure they will have a lot more than just 2 of them. I think they have like 10 or more! Well I'm done paying extra to them to be treated like this! Maybe next time they won't treat the next customer that isn't happy with the service they receive the same way they treated us!
