Had a great experience at the BistroPlex. Drink and food brought to you while you enjoy a movie in a comfy recliner, what's not to like? For the food: we ordered the chicken lettuce wraps and jamming grilled cheese. Neither disappointed. Chicken lettuce wraps came with 3 lettuce wraps filled with generous portions of the chicken filling and two jelly like sauces to put on them. The grilled cheese was delicious. The combo of bleu and fontina cheeses with bacon and currant jam on sourdough bread, so good. I was hesitant about the fries because at a glance they resemble McDonald's fries. Fortunately, they were much better, not tasting at all like their fries. Super impressed with the craft beer menu featuring many local craft breweries. I enjoyed a kolsch from Raised Grain in Waukesha. Service was great. Our server greeted us promptly and answered questions about the menu. He brought out our drinks in a timely fashion followed by our food. He was very courteous. The movie viewing experience was enjoyable as well. The table tray is handy, sliding in and out as you needed. The dream loungers still recline and have the adjustable armrest between the sets of two seats. T R A S H!!! First visit was not as well as I thought it would be. I ordered a black bean burger, they said they only had one patty left and they burned it! I was disappointed in the quality of the food. My last and final visit was trash. I ordered concessions and the cashier argued about the change he owed me. His math was wrong and shorted me change. Next the server asked us in the hallway what our seats were and stated he had our order and gave it to us in the hallway with our full hands the awkward exchange took longer than if he would have just delivered it to the seats. Atmosphere is pretty nice, not a nice as some of the other Marcus locations if I'm being honest. Free popcorn on a tuesday is a nice feature. It made taking my nieces to go see Aladdin a bit more cost friendly. But there is just so much commotion. Dinner and a movie go well together, just separately. Seats aren't as comfy and the trays in front of you can be distracting. However, service is great. Still had a great time, this theatre just wasn't my cup of tea. read more

I'll start with the good parts: the theater was clean and the seats comfortable. As for the not so good: you pay an outrageous price for subpar food, and on top of that, you have to wait in line for overworked bartenders to take your order outside the theater (because the servers don't take orders at your seat). I had a mediocre turkey club wrap. My wife ordered a chicken caesar salad that came without chicken, had stale croutons, and wasn't tossed. I do have to commend the BistroPlex for one part of their business model - they probably rarely get complaints (because patrons are too busy watching their movie to track down a server and ask for the correct food). read more

My husband and I have long been fans of the dinner and a movie concept Marcus theaters have concocted. The Majestic Big Screen Bistro in Brookfield as been our go to spot to enjoy food and film together for the last six years. This evening, we decided to branch out and try to Bistroplex at Southridge because the show times jived better with our schedule. While it was enjoyable, it didn't quite measure up to the expectations created by the Majestic. The nice thing about the Bistroplex is that all of their screens offer food service. Most theaters only offer a full menu in select theaters. The other huge bonus was the dreamlounger chairs. The seats are cloud-like leather recliners with a nice fold up foot rest. It was like watching a movie in the comfort of our living room. The food trays also pull right up to diners, which makes eating in the dark a bit easier, or at least prevents klutzy eaters from leaving with a lap full of food. As for the food service, we felt the experience left something to be desired. The most unfortunate aspect was that ordering is limited to the first thirty minutes of the posted show time. Everything comes out at warp speed to make sure delivery occurs inside of the service window. Our entire meal, including coffee and dessert were brought out during the previews. I am a slow eater and enjoy a bit of time between courses, so everything felt a bit rushed. This also made the overall experience more like dinner before the movie, rather than dinner AND a movie. The vittles themselves were not bad. The menu offered a good variety of choices from quinoa salad bowls to fully loaded burgers. We skipped the apps, which is very rare for us, but nothing really grabbed our attention. Many of the starters, like the fish tacos and lettuce wraps, seemed more like meals, not snacks. I ordered the turkey bacon club wrap with southwest quinoa salad on the side. My husband got the fried chicken dinner with fries. The wrap and salad were better than having popcorn and Butterfinger Bites for dinner, but were not memorably delicious in any way. The quinoa salad was actually a bit soupy for my taste. The fried chicken was hot and crispy, as were the fries, but lacked seasoning. Pairing it with a spicy sauce would be my recommendation. We ordered the Nutella begniets and marshmallow brownie sundae for dessert. The begniets were hot and fresh, but the flavor more closely resembled funnel cake than fried French dough. The brownie in the sundae was probably the best part of our dessert course. It was thick, rich, and fudgy. However, the marshmallow topping was the downfall of the sundae. Once cooled, cooked marshmallow turns into edible Gorilla glue. It was hard to work through the ice cream and brownie because the whole thing stuck together. Overall, the best word for our Bistroplex meal would be "fine". If movie goers enter the situation wanting and expecting theme park quality food, they won't be disappointed. I think we'll stick to the Majestic if we plan to dine at the theater, but I would definitely go back ot th Bistroplex for the comfortable seats! read more

This is a fun movie theatre. They have a full menu of food that consists of a lot of appetizers, Zaffiro's pizza, burgers and a few other things. They have wonton wrapped mozzarella sticks that I must try next time! Yumm. They also have Icees! You can get cherry or blue raspberry. I couldn't decide and then the server mentioned that they can do a twist Icee. Score! Service here was friendly, attentive and the food gets to you pretty quickly after ordering. The pizza was good, I'd definitely get it again. I love Zaffiro's. However, it was a little bland and skimpy on the veggies. They have reclining seats and you can put your feet up and lean back while you watch the movie. These are the absolute most comfortable movie theatre seats that I've ever sat in. Theeeee best! I never thought I'd consider a movie theater one of the best restaurants/bars in town, but here I am... took my family to see a movie last Thursday and was running short on time, so we decided to eat when we got there. HOLY COW. It was happy hour, (3-6 Mon-Thu) so we ordered some $5 apps (also have 20 tap beers for $3 and $5 rails). The Fish Tacos were up there with the best I've had, and the Chicken Lettuce Wraps were delicious and pleantyful) The "Hollywood Heat" burger was phenomenal. My son is a huge Red Robin fan and liked this burger better than anything hes tasted there. This place really is a restaurant that serves movies. I highly recommend it read more

Very disappointed at Marcus BistroPlex Southridge specially the manager on duty tonight. People who know me know that I hate complaining in public places, restaurant, or customer service in general. However receiving only half of my food order during showtime (not the first time this happens) forced me to file a complaint after movie was done. The way manager handled the situation was very unprofessional. Instead of a good experience or good "entertainment" I left the place with a bitter taste of mouth. Updated: I said originally that I hoped this place would improve. And it really has. I've now been to Bistroplex a half dozen times (give or take), and each time the service has been a little better. Today I would categorize their service as prompt, courteous, and accurate. The theaters remain clean and well maintained, and I love choosing my seat in advance. The bar is also greatly improved, with great care shown to customers who stop in for a drink before the show. The A/V issues have never reoccurred, so I assume it was an opening week glitch that won't happen again. All-in-all, I'm happy to have this theater close-ish to my home. I'll definitely be back. ---------- This movie theater hasn't been open long, so it is my sincere hope that they improve with time and that I can update this review later with a higher rating. That said... I have been to the Bistroplex twice in the last week. It's close to my home, and I like the dinner and a movie" concept, often going to the Bigscreen Bistro screen at the Marcus Majestic located in Brookfield. Unfortunately, this new Bistroplex doesn't measure up. First, the service is not up to par. While the front room service (who help with getting tickets, etc) are great, the servers in the theater are not great. Now, mind you they are trying hard to get the job done, but I don't think there are enough of them. These are large theaters with easily over 100 seats and I only saw maybe three waitstaff for the entire room. So it's not surprising that they are frazzled, forgetful, and seemingly slow. While there are several food runners to bring drinks and entrees, they are not well trained (or perhaps the back of House system is poor?) because I witnessed them being wrong food and drinks to several patrons. Their response when the patrons were annoyed? "I'm just the drink runner; I can't help you." ...SERIOUSLY? That sort of tone would get most folks fired at any other service job. Next, while the food is tasty and the beer selection is Wisconsin-worthy, the bar is not good. We tried to order a beer at the large, relatively empty bar 35 minutes before our movie (so, before seating) and after waiting more than 10 minutes without even being acknowledged by one of the three bartenders or the (I assume) manager, we left empty handed and had to order in the theater. Then, there was a malfunction during my movie. Audio and visual went dark. We sat in the dark for a minute before someone came in to say that the manager's are working on it. When a patron from the crowd suggested "a free snack" to accommodate us, the answer again was, "I can't do anything to help you there." Eventually the movie was restored, but it jumped forward so we lost several minutes of the plot. I thought surely when the bills came at the end of the night there would be a discount or a coupon, or even a note of apology from a manager. Nope; none of that. So, overall I am sorely disappointed with the Bistroplex. I expected so much more. read more

Go here if you'd like to ruin the entire movie going experience. - The stupid tray cannot be folded away and therefore covers 30% of your seat at all times even when pushed out, when you are fully reclined it's rather claustrophobic. Had to literally get up and go ask someone to shut it off! Who allows the light to be turned on in the projection room mid showing? May be a brand new theatre but it's easily the worst movie going experience I've had in a long long time, if not ever. First of all of your not eating the trays don't fold down and they take up half of the seat, they are huge and bulky and bright white, they should fold down. Who thought it was a good idea to not turn all the lights off during a movie? Because let me tell you it's a horrible idea. Also they leave ALL the lights on including random colored flashing ones throughout the previews, there was so much glare you could barely see the screen. And the. To make matters worse a bright light came on in the projection room that was shining right in my eyes. I literally had to get up and find an employee to go turn it off. It's a different theater experience than we are used to. No concessions on the front lobby. Instead a cashier to one side and a huge bar to the other side. No kiosks to buy tickets at either but we a loyality members and buy ahead. We came 30 minutes prior to showtime to eat and see 12 Strong. The theater was pretty empty. There were several runners but only one waitress. It's really dim and hard to see the menus. There was a 2/$25 special where you get a choice of sandwich, burger, or pizza. And one app to share. I chose the smash burger without a bun and a side of couscous with edaname. I wasn't expecting sugar to be in it but there was. Hubby liked his burger and fries. We got the bill and we were overcharged. She corrected that but I don't think she used my points I requested. We didn't see her the rest of the movie. So gourmet it's not but a nice date place. Burgers are pricey from $12-15. On top of drinks and ticket prices, that could be up to $70 for two. read more

I have never experienced a movie in this type of setting. The reclining lounge chairs, and the easy access to the restrooms were a plus. And how about that "in your seat ordering?"I can't believe that the food they serve is such top quality. If you desire a alcoholic beverage, You can have that in your seat or sit at the full-service bar. Took my sons and a couple friends to the movies to see Batman on Saturday. I'm beyond embarrassed of how I was treated by the young lady and the security guard. After spending well over $100.00 I was asked by the security guard to see my tickets. Our movie was around 8:30 but I purchased the tickets earlier because this was a brand new movie and I knew seats would fill up. The boys had a couple of female friends that wanted to join but the young lady lied not only to them but also to me saying they were sold out. I will not be back to this theater because of the way I was treated. My son felt uneasy after this situation but I assured him the security guard was most likely doing what the young lady asked him to do. You all will not get one dime from me again. I will let friends and family know not to support this theater. You don't treat patrons who are spending more than just the price of a ticket that way. Honestly I don't know how they are still in business. I'm pretty sure corporate would not approve of how they are treating people. If they were to shut down this theater, I'm pretty sure this young lady would rethink how she treats people considering she would be unemployed. read more

My teenagers and I went to the movies today and the customer service was outstanding. A young lady by the name of Piper greeted us and delivered popcorn and drinks to our seats. This is the worst movie experience ever. Like they were trying to have some upscale movie experience. Im bringing my kids to the movie I am expecting a fun atmosphere. The bartender did not know how to make the promotional drink and started making other people drinks in front of me. Just so happen the people she chose to fix drink before me was white and I was black. I will never patronize this place again. They called the police on me while I was getting my things out of the theater and informing my family that I had to leave. I have never been as embarrassed as I was on Saturday. I live a few minutes from here but I did not try it out until recently. Seems like that was a good move based on the dismal reviews from the first few months. I have enjoyed the Marcus Theaters attempts to move toward this dinner and a movie concept at Majestic and Ridge Cinemas with Zaffiro's and their other food and drink options. We had two great experiences lately and I think we will happily make this our go-to theater in the future. It is, to be fair, super close to our house so that helps. That said, as everyone else notes, the seats are amazing. The screens are all fantastic. You can basically lay down, sprawl out and get super comfortable here while watching on a huge screen. There were no issues with sound or light during our movies. I hate when movie theaters leave the lights on for too long, but that wasn't an issue. On our first visit, we did not order any food, just free waters which the servers happily brought, no questions asked. We did leave a tip anyway... just to not be jerks. On our second visit, we got there a few minutes before the previews started, we were given menus and told to press a button by the seat for service. It turns out we turned on a light and did not press the right button. But that was our error, and when we did press the right button, our server came within minutes. We ordered dinner and got our food very quickly. The theater was not busy as it was a Wednesday however. Our food was solidly good. Not amazing, but good. My boyfriend's burger was a little better than my Asian Banh Mi. The only service complaint is that no one came to clear our plates until almost the end of the movie. Especially when it's slow, I think a walk through to pick up plates should be routine. I agree that arriving 30 minutes before your movie is excessive. I think 10-15 on a weekend night would be sufficient so most of the orders are in before the movie starts, however, the servers and runners seem well-trained now to deliver in a way that is not distracting from the movie. Everything is designed really well, from the seats, the tray tables which are large enough for the plates, drinks and silverware, and also can be moved almost entirely out of the way when you are done. There is a lot of room between each row for the servers to walk around and patrons to recline. The facility is also super nice, from the entrance to the walkway and bar area and the bathrooms... Had the chance to go to a Star Wars preview at this newish theater. I am a big fan of the Marcus band compared to other theaters. This was a unique experience. They do not have a concession stand at all. Everything is brought right to your seat. The service was extremely quick and friendly. Each seat has its own little table and request service button. The menu is pretty extensive and for the most part pretty good. Each seat is a recliner and fairly spacious. I really enjoy not having another person sit right on top of me during a full movie theater. All most all theaters are going to this model so it is no longer that unique. This was a free event for me so did not see a menu with prices. The food was good but nothing special. Not sure if the price matches the quality. I would assume it keeps with movies theater tradition of being overpriced. A cool spot to watch a movie. I'll likely stick with Marcus Brookfield because it is so much closer, but if you are in the area it is a cool experience. read more

I have been here twice. Yes, it is a little more than other theaters, but SO worth it. First of all, you select your seat when you pay for the movie. Second, your seat is a heated ULTRA LOUNGER! Third, all of the theaters have Bistro Plex service! And the food is good! My companion and I opted to split the $25 special that consists of app, entree and dessert. I had mozzarella logs ( the app), she had a burger (main) and we split the dessert . Also, you can't have a movie without popcorn. They have free refills on large popcorn. They also have alcoholic beverages if you feel so inclined. The only minus is that the particular theater we were in is situated back to back with another. There were times when the sound effects from the other movie nearly drowned out the movie we were seeing. Overall, a good experience. read more

We went to see The rise of Skywalker. We ordered an appetizer. The grande nachos and then both of us got the bistro burgers. We ordered 20 minutes before the movie started. We waited and waited. The movie started. I kid you not... Almost 30 minutes into the movie they brought out our burgers. We asked what happened to our appetizer. The waiter who was completely nice and working his butt off was surprised it wasn't run out to us yet. He came back about five minutes later with the nachos but you could tell they were sitting there for quite a while. He came back a few minutes later and comped us for the nachos. We appreciated that but that really wasn't the point of us ordering it. We love the seating and being able to eat while watching the movie but if the food and service isn't up to par, what's the point. The mixup was not due to our waiter. It was the runners who were supposed to deliver the food. Honestly this wasn't the first time we have had a problem with the food. Going to the BistroPlex was so fun! I do not go to the movies very often but going to the BistroPlex felt like going to the movies was an actual EXPERIENCE again! We bought our tickets online...which was convenient. The only thing I would suggest about that was labeling the tiny squares that are a map of the seats if you are going with a group of people and buying separately. When we got to the BistroPlex we were escorted to our theatre and our seat. Everything was clearly explained. There were service buttons, recliners(that are heated), "night lights", plenty of room and convenient payment options. Getting there 30 min before the movie like suggested felt unnecessary- 10-15 min would be sufficient. It was really great and I will definitely be back! read more

The best thing about theater is the seats they are all recliners foot and head rest recline. I am 6'9 and I fit comfortably not much leg room but I am not average height. If you go there and recline your seats there so comfy you might fall asleep. I recommend this theater but you don't have a place to go up and see your food you pay and go straight to your seat. And order everything from your seat I didn't even smell popcorn like at other cinemas. The only complaint was the sound wasn't loud enough I could hear other people eating which was ok. I love the entire concept of eating food and relaxing while you're watching a movie however the most important thing in this Duo of food and movies is the food! People will always go watch movies however if you're offering food it needs to be tasty. Now when I went and took my three small children to see the Emoji Movie I was very disappointed in the food I purchased. Buffalo wings which looked like small little boneless things covered in Buffalo sauce but they were terrible. How could you go wrong and mess up buffalo wings? it's hot sauce and butter like that's it there's nothing complicated about it. I also would like to note when they give you water they give you a tall glass filled to the brim with no top on it and straight straws. So of course a little kid when they go to drink they're going to spill it all over themselves. Please invest in bendy straws for your drinks. Since the opening night, we have not returned to the BistroPlex due to such a bad experience. At a gathering, we happened to be talking to one of the managers at this location and were asked to give it one more chance. So we bought tickets and did. Wow, what a totally different experience. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by Austin with a big smile and genuine welcome. He personally walked us through the changes (food service, etc.), took our order, and showed us where to go. The place was very clean, the seats/tables comfortable and the theatre was perfect temp and atmosphere. The servers (we had 3 different ones) all worked together, and were extremely polite and friendly. We had the Game Day appetizers and was more of a split entrée due to the amount of food you received (all tasted great). If not for Austin we probably would have never returned to this location, but his professionalism and customer care will definitely have us back! read more

Beware!!! If you are looking forward to a heated dream lounger, good luck. The Bistro Plex has consistent problems with the seats not working. This is especially disappointing when only two movies are shown in auditoriums with heated seats and I pick my movies here based on that. My first visit was November 3rd and both of our seats in row G worked. On November 10th, neither of our seats in row G worked. The manager tried to find us other seats but none were available. She gave us free passes instead. Additionally, when I asked others to my left and right, the lack of heating was sporadic with other seats. Tonight, in row H, one of our seats worked and one didn't. The manager tried finding us other seats but the empty ones next to us didn't work either! Again, free passes. Additionally, as far as the menu goes, more vegetarian and vegan options should be offered. Is a veggie burger too much to ask? If they get the bugs worked out and deliver what they advertise, this would be a very nice theater. read more

Very clean and fresh decor. The food is supposed to be the star here. My Chinese chicken salad was poor. Would have sent it back but didnt want to explain this during the moviem. Dressing needs a lot of work...a lot more tangy/soy flavor needed Popcorn comes in a stainless bowl but is hard to eat without spilling and was stale. Waiter brought a large salt shaker that looked like a drink with it. It's annoying to have waitstaff deliver food and checks during movie and then expect me to pay the bill during the movie! Hearing clinging of glasses and forks on plates is so annoying and tables feel like those on hospital beds. I know that many won't agree with me but...I'm not 6 feet tall so the recliners are awful. I am 5'4" tall and the headrest causes my head to tilt forward. Also, I can't get out of the seat by myself as my legs don't reach the floor once I'm in the recliner. It is just uncomfortable for us shorter people. How about having some non-reclining seats just like they have at the Showtime Cinema? We short folks would appreciate it! read more

We've been here 3 times now and have really enjoyed each of our BistroPlex experiences. I'll admit we went in initially with low expectations of "movie dining" based on previous experiences at other theaters that offer table service and menus. But with BistroPlex we've been pleasantly surprised with the food, service and atmosphere. We've made a point to sample different items on the menu each time (although we've had to repeat the Fish & Chips - delicious!) to get a sense of what's really good here and what is so-so. I would reorder the Asian bahn mi, the chicken sandwich, the pizza, the buffalo wings appetizer, and as I mentioned before, the fish & chips. I would not order the Smash Burger again (I got the Bistro ... sort of like a Big Boy style burger), or the guac/salsa and chips. They were just okay. My daughter had the mac & cheese and for a dedicated mac & cheese lover she said she'd pass on those again. The fries are delicious. The dream loungers are so comfortable, with plenty of room and a good amount of recline available. The trays slide away when you're done eating. The screens and audio quality has been great (we've been to both the super screen and the regular one). While this kind of experience is pricey (expect to spend at least $100 for 2-3 people for meals and drinks, NOT including tickets), it will be our new go-to movie theater. read more

I've been here three times. The first time was amazing. We saw Thor ragnorak. Food and service was great. Came back a second time and saw Justice league. Same result. Tonight, we saw Star Wars on opening night, theater 6, the 7:15pm show. Everything was great until the movie started. The lights in the ceiling did not fully dim on the left side and back row of theater. Casting horrible effects on the screen during dark scenes. There was a flicker effect on those lights throughout the movie every 10 minutes. That lasted about 10 seconds. I informed staff, blue shirted waitresses and a person wearing a suit thinking they were the manager and they said they would look into it right away. That was about 20 minutes into the film. It obviously didn't improve. Manager was nowhere in sight after the film and I was with a group of people who wanted to just leave. So I'd say, be cautious on this one until they work out some of the tech issues. Could easily be a 5 Star experience if they do. read more

Rather go to a regular theater, not used to not having the regular concessions, trays in front of the seats are distracting as well as the large podiums with the service button in between the seats, it was hard to tend to the children with them in the way. Also 6.50 is ridiculously too much for a large soda. It wasn't what we expected at all. read more

We just discovered this place on Christmas and decided it's a new date night spot! $5 tickets and free popcorn on Tuesdays! Are you kidding me?! We had already eaten dinner but ordered nachos and soda for the movie anyway because who can resist? The nachos were ok, nothing too special but we just loved the experience. Our waiter was so nice even though it must have sucked to be working Christmas night. Service was SO fast, our food came super quick. I loved it, I want to live at this theater.
