Passing through Auburn, Indiana this Thursday afternoon (enroute to Naperville IL) and stopped for…read morethe night (and to get dinner). Our neighbor is cat-sitting for us and suggested Salvatori's as a good place for Italian, and she was so right! It's not a big space and you may have a short wait for a table, but so worth it. The ambiance is casual and family-oriented, not too noisy even when full, and (best of all) there's No TVs. Heavenly! I had the pasta Apuli (minus the red pepper flakes), she had the Spaghetti Olio and we split a bruchetta and a cannoli for a to-go dessert. The portions are so large, we needed to-go boxes for both dinners even though we ordered the half sizes! Generous doesn't begin to describe this place. Our server was warm and attentive without 'hovering' and the host stopped by to ensure all's well. We're coming back through town on Monday and I think we'll be back again!

We were asked to wait 15 minutes near the restrooms, only to be completely forgotten about while a walk-in couple was seated at the next open table. To make matters worse, when the host finally noticed us, he offered no apology for the mix-up, simply stating he forgot about us and we'd have to wait for the next round of clean tables. Disappointing lack of customer service.

Salvatori's (Washington Center Road) - mixing up my local Italian food choices…read more Fort Wayne is blessed with many local Italian restaurants. Each a bit different with their own flare. On this occasion we picked Salvatori's on Washington Center Road. We've always had an easy time getting a table here as the restaurant is fairly large. The staff is very friendly and helps each other out. Wyatt did a great job on this occasion. The restaurant was clean and orderly. My wife really liked the chef salad. Very fresh with lots of meats and side veggies. A very attractive dish also. The house dressing is light, slightly sweet and has a nice oil based taste. Side house salads are very tasty and fresh as well. Lots of side veggies and cheese packed into this over flowing bowl. The Frutti di Mare is a weekly special only. The linguini was perfectly cooked and plentiful. The red sauce had a nice tomato with Italian seasoning/oil taste. Often this sauce can be very spicy. This dish was not spicy nor did it sacrifice flavor. There were lots of mussels - which don't have much meat. There really wasn't much shrimp or calamari included. The fish was tender and flakey.

I'm in Fort Wayne for business for about two weeks, and I've already three-timed this restaurant. I…read moreloved the baked ziti and garlic bread. Service is great excellent; it's clear that folks here care. They really paid attention to the details. I'd say this is a good spot for a special occasion or a regular night out. Prices are reasonable -- especially considering the humongous portions. Also, I appreciated that they kept takeout orders in a warmer. My food was still warm when I got back to my hotel.

Don't Let the Exterior Fool You--This Place is an Absolute Gem!…read more If you are just driving past, you might completely miss Salvatori's since it's attached to an older gas station. But don't let that fool you for a single second. Step inside, and you're instantly met with a cozy, inviting, and bustling little neighborhood Italian joint that packs a serious punch. ### The Vibe & Service The New Haven spot is small--it only seats about 48 people--which actually gives it an awesome, high-energy, intimate atmosphere. Even when they are absolutely slammed with dine-in, carryout, and catering, the service is lightning-fast and genuinely friendly. The staff treats you like regular family the minute you walk through the door. ### The Food The portions here are massive, and the value for what you pay is incredible. If you leave this place hungry, that is completely on you. * **The Dough:** It's easily some of the best tasting, freshest dough in the area. Whether it's their garlic breadsticks or the crust on their pies, they nail the texture perfectly. * **The Calzones:** They are absolute monsters. The *Abruzzo All Meat Calzone* and the *Salvatori Supreme* are loaded to the brim, baked beautifully, and served with a killer pizza dipping sauce. * **Veneto White Pizza:** If you want to skip the traditional red sauce, this is a must-try. The combination of chicken, alfredo, mushrooms, and fresh basil on that signature crust is top-tier. * **The Pastas:** They offer half-plate and full-plate options. The full plates are massive enough to guarantee lunch for the next day. The lasagna and the rich meat sauces taste like they've been simmering all day long. ### The Verdict Salvatori's New Haven proves that some of the absolute best food comes out of the most unassuming places. It's affordable, hearty, authentic comfort food served by great people. Just make sure to get there a little early if you want a table, or call ahead for carryout--it's a local favorite for a reason!

So it was being held at a very high standard for the other three who had not been there. It did not disappoint. The bread sticks were nicely cooked, airy with holes in the middle and choice of sauces. Manicotti with meat sauce, fettuccine Alfredo add chicken, spaghetti and meatballs and a small pizza were all delicious. They do have a gluten free option. Single bathroom that can accommodate a wheelchair but likely not a large enough turning radius. It is attached to a gas station so that would be alternative option. Sangria was on par, not too sweet. Server's are all experienced and very nice. Management checked on table to insure food was good. Full size portions are enormous. We definitely have left overs.

Don't Be Deterred by the Rating--The Food Is Great!…read more As a fan of Biaggi's in Iowa, I was thrilled to see one in Fort Wayne but puzzled by the lower ratings. After dining here, I think I understand the mixed feelings: the ambiance is a bit more worn-in compared to other locations.but also the bread and the achohol free drink they are not as great as the others But let me be clear: the food itself was excellent and completely met my expectations. From the chicken to the seafood, every dish was delicious. The sea bass and shrimp salmon risotto were particular highlights. And the strawberry mash cocktail ! Absolutely a must-order! But also the price is fair compared to other fine dinner restaurants we have been

Ambiance of this area is casual and fun (see "tree" on wall). Our server was Corrine and she did an excellent job! Started w/soup: Hubby had chicken corn chowder and I had the brothy potato, green bean, and kielbasa (both soups pictured together). Both were great in flavor but were only just warm in temp, not hot as we would've preferred. The brothy kielbasa soup also needed a bit more seasoning. We didn't complain, as they were still tasty! Hubby got the wonderfully delicious and warm Pear, Brie, and Ham sandwich on a crusty loaf (pictured). One of the best ham sandwiches ever, he said. Highly recommends! Comes with chips . I got the special Late Summer Blue Crab Salad (pictured) which I was surprised to discover came with no salad greens, or not even, perhaps, toast points or crackers. I did ask for a side of arugula ($2) and the combo of fresh, summery crab salad and greens was delectable! This was a seasonal offering and today, I'm told, was its last day of availability. Had the soup been hot, this would've been a 5-star lunch!
