This is a restaurant that cannot be missed in Limerick. It's located in the heart of the city on O'Connell Street, just opposite the AIB. This review is based on my second and most recent visit to this location.
The first thing I have to applaud about this place is the modern and lush interior. It just makes you feel like you're dining at a private expensive lounge in some exotic country!
The price is also quite commendable. It's usually about €15 for a two course meal during weekday lunch times every other time of the year but because it's Christmas, it's increased to €17 (much to my surprise, but it's only a small difference!)
I love the fact that they serve you a jug of water while you're being seated so you don't have to ask for one. That gesture definitely saves some stress of having to wait for a server to attend to you before ordering.
I have to admit I was a bit confused and weary about the whole "east meets west" theme they've got going on. In my mind, I was like "oh god, not another attempt to collaborate Asian and Western food". However, I soon realised in didn't make much of an impact of the quality of the food they serve. The menu is pretty much a mix of everything.
During my visit, I decided to go for the honey bbq ribs for a starter and the chicken and veg pasta carbonara for my main. The starter was nice, nothing overly special. Just regular ribs. I would say a 3/5 as the portion was way too small and the flavour was quite bland in my opinion. Although when I received my main there was a mix up and I didn't have chicken in my pasta, it was quickly rectified (within 5-10 mins) and they were very apologetic. The carbonara was so creamy and flavourful, definitely a 5/5.
I have to mention how quickly the food was out! The restaurant was quite busy when I went so I initially expected the wait to be longer than usual but I was gladly mistaken. I only had to wait about 10 mins for my starter to be served and then when my table was cleared, another maybe 15 mins (minus the mistake) for my main to be served.
I really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable meal out in Limerick. The menu is filled with variety and they have a good selection of drinks too. Two amazing courses during lunch for €15/€17,of course it's a must try! read more
