I love this place! March Farms is an adorable little farm stand, with parking next to and above the shop. Inside they have honey, jam, seasoning, spices, bagels, popcorn, meat.... It goes on and on. The bagels are delicious without any of the plastic taste from a supermarket. The apple cider donuts are a perfect fall treat, without too much sugar topping to fall everywhere. It feels like a quaint New England shop. There is also a playground on a field below, but Canadian geese were strutting around at a pond next to it. They seemed to have attitude. They do have pick your own fruit as it is seasonally appropriate. There is also a second space, down the road and to the right, which has music and food trucks occasionally. It seems you must bring your own chairs, so come prepared with a place to sit. You can see the field from the farm shop!

Great family farm - and an awesome destination for fall family fun! They've got a great pumpkin patch at the entrance with a variety from plain, giant, to the odd ones. The farm store has all sorts of great farm fresh goodies - produce, cheese, mums! This is the third year we've visited March Farms for apple picking with our kiddos. This year, instead of the bus to Hilltop, we were able to drive our car to that area. They do ask for a donation to park on Hilltop. From there, you're able to access the hay rides ($3, 3 and under free), purchase peck bags for apple picking, enjoy food trucks and great seating around the fire pit on a chilly day. There was a great live band there today, The Yodels. Our kids love the hay ride, getting up close and personal with the apple trees - on a deeper level, having them experience where their food comes from is super important to us. Great to see them enjoy the fresh fruit! On your way out, don't miss the frozen cider with whipped cream and cinnamon by the pumpkin patch :)

Best sauces for glazing, cooking, marinades and also for gifts! Received a few for my birthday and garlic honey bbq is my current favorite. Can't wait to try all of the others, yum.

Great as farms go! Bring back some apples, peaches, blueberries, corn, and pumpkin throughout the year. Get your jams, cookies, and pies in the store. Walk around the lake and say hi to the goats. Halloween was a treat too!

I originally pooh-poohed the place going solely by the Googly pics but OMG so glad Steve chose this place! Many plants and beautiful irises outside. BUT...I stepped INSIDE the store and the first thing I noticed was the bakery section. Okay, so only one item was gluten free (local bakery offerings) but they were lavender meringues and they were only $1 each! A super unique treat for me! Steve found the freezer with the meat. YOU MUST BUY THE MEAT! Buy ALL the BACONS! We fried up the Irish bacon today (had to find out how to cook it just right) and it was soooo good. Very different and much much much better than any store bought bacon. We also purchased Canadian bacon to try later this week. The tomatos were the first of the season. I cut one up for a tomato, spinach and brie omelette and the tomato flavor stood out. Very very good flavor! I would love (and hope to) return for produce this summer...and for eggs. Some of the items were a bit pricey for us (bacon was a steal for the quality, though) like the bourbon maple syrup and the duck pastrami however these are top notch products I have not seen anywhere else and honestly, the syrup is on my shopping list now if I do ever get back to Holbrook Farm. We also bought local coffee but haven't ground the beans yet. BTW the proprietress was very kind and patient and lovely. Please visit!

Keep in mind that there is a "Jones Family Farm Pumpkinseed Hill" at 120 Beardsley Rd., and then the "Jones Valley Farm/Jones Winery" at 606 Walnut Tree Rd. My GPS accidentally took me to the Pumpkinseed Farm at first, but it wasn't a big deal because the winery is just a few minutes away. Once I was in the right place, a staff member greeted me and gave me the wine/food menu. They have a lot of different areas to sit, including a patio with tables/umbrellas (where they had live music playing), a pavilion with tables underneath, an upper patio that was covered by a pergola with leaves/vines on top, and an inside bar area with seating. The inside bar area has garage doors that were open, leading out to the upper patio. Even though it was a hot day, I sat under the pergola and it was surprisingly cool underneath! After sitting down, a staff member quickly came over and took my drink/food order. I tried a glass of the Sunshine White, which was delicious! It was on the sweeter side though. Keep in mind that they only sell wine by the glass on the menu, but they do have a store where you can buy bottles to go. I also ordered the Simply Cheese Plate, which came with sharp cheddar cheese, Jones Berry Chutney, and sea salt crackers. This was excellent! They also do have a "Light Fare" menu with things like a hummus plate, cheesecake, popcorn, etc. The service was fast and the staff were friendly. They had a "Bouquet Bar" set up where you could buy fresh cut flowers, as well as a small gift shop. Overall a very cool winery in Shelton, I would definitely recommend!

Now that we're living in The Catskills, my quest to find that similar market prototype I grew to love in Westchester, continues. I had forgotten hubs and I came here before during one of our bi-annual trips to The Catskills. Recently though, when I searched for produce markets near work in Highland, Wallkill View in New Paltz popped up within a short driving distance. As you drive past all of New Paltz bustling shops and restaurants on Main St, you'll soon approach a sleepy farmland area overlooking Mohonk Preserve in about 5 or so minutes. I've been hard-pressed to find a market that tops my favorite one in Westchester and checks all the boxes. Wallkill View grows and sells a nice mix of produce the area has to offer. And when veggies and fruit aren't grown on-site or in season, they're sourced from elsewhere. Unlike other farm markets that operate only Sat+Sun, Wallkill V. is open everyday. Well...almost. These folks shut down for Christmas and throughout the winter- reopening in March. Prices are about $1 more than what I paid down in White Plains- but hey... I get it. Service is great though.

During my visit, the trees were full of Pink Lady, Evercrisp, Red Delicious, and Empire apples. After tasting these fresh, juicy picks straight from the tree, I don't think I can go back to store-bought apples - not that I really have a choice! Every bite was crisp perfection, and honestly, this might become an annual tradition for me. You can choose from a few bag sizes when you go apple-picking: Large ($40) - labeled at 30 lbs Medium ($25) - labeled at 12-15 lbs Small ($15) - labeled at 7-8 lbs Separate from the orchard, there's a large open field that's perfect for picnics, with plenty of seating and cozy fire pits to keep you warm. It's a beautiful, family-friendly space -- kids running around, birthday celebrations happening, and couples just relaxing in the fall breeze. You don't need to pick apples or pay any additional fees to enjoy this area, which is a big plus. Bring your own chairs if you want extra comfort. There were three food trucks on-site during my visit. My favorite was Pika Food Truck -- their Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich was delicious. Chef O's Streatery offered empanadas but they weren't my favourite-- a bit too salty and lacking flavor. We also tried a flight of ciders, which was such a fun way to sample different seasonal flavors. Before you leave, make sure to check out the scenic overlook -- it's stunning, especially with the fall foliage. I loved that they even had a tripod set up for easy photo-taking.
